Which user would you go on a date with?

If we’re still talking about burgers, I’ve tried In-N-Out on a NUMBER of occasions and have been thoroughly disappointed every time. The real good ones are Checkers/Rally’s you goofballs, their fries are ORGASMIC!!! I can’t believe more fast food chains don’t offer spicy fries. 😢

I’ve never had Whataburger, but I know a guy in Texas who eats pretty much exclusively that, so it’s on the list whenever I visit. I also had a very, very good experience at a Shake Shack several years ago.

Also, Johnny Rocket’s, while not terrible, is very bland. I’ve never been to one of those things as an adult, but I imagine that brand exists purely as “experiential dining”.

In n Out is fine for what it is. It's not worth waiting an hour in line for, but it's better than most fast food burgers and like half the price. I usually eat there once or twice when I visit Southern Oregon. I'd go to Whataburger all the time if we had them here so it's probably better that we don't. I also think Five Guys is massively overrated these days. Good burgers but way too expensive for what it is.

Someone said that Burger King doesn't flame-grill their burgers anymore, is that true? If so, what do they have to offer anyone at this point? A worse, imitated version of McDonalds?

If we’re still talking about burgers...
Dang, all these US burger joints have such cool or interesting names, Johnny Rocket's, WhataBurger etc. We don't have any of that this side of the pond. Just the odd Sgt. Peppers, Wimpy or Burger King. Oh, and a whole load of Maccy D's

Our burger chains suck in Canada, too — in fact, they’ve pretty all gone out of business, these days. The only one that survives is called Harvey’s, which is absolutely fucking abysmal. Our fast food options are so dire in this country. 😢

OH MY GOD, WAIT, I FORGOT!!! Our version of A&W, which is completely different from the American one, was a cultural institution for many years. I haven’t been to one in ages and it probably sucks now, but I have loads and loads of nostalgic memories of being there with my family. I always wanted a Root Bear plush. 😢

I’ve only had Burger King once in my life, many years ago in university, and I remember them tasting like the burgers you get served poolside at a hotel. I can’t imagine what their competitive advantage is. At the insistence of a friend, I also got their chicken fries, and those sucked, too.

I would so love to go to one of these things, and they actually have a few stores here, too! The menu photos always look like they’re from 1978.

Hoooly shit. We had a Johnny Rockets in our mall but they got rid of it and a bunch of other stores to make it more 'upscale'. Now it's gentrified bullshit.

To quote a video I saw on YouTube: they’ve all become Starbucks.

(I actually love Starbucks, but I say keep the identity to that one brand.)

Dairy Queen had some very good burgers when I last went during the pandemic — there was one right near where I lived, so I visited quite often, and their food was really quite good.

I have a memory of sitting in a quiet Dairy Queen, eating a banana split and looking out into the heavily-raining parking lot, after finishing an exam. After the rain parted, I went back home and watched an episode of Warau Salesman New and another of Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai, and felt rather content.

It actually feels like it's straight from the 70's as well! Hard thin metal frame chairs with tough cushions, thick off-colour white plastic tables, and an odd indoor terracotta tiled floor.

I always order the bendy frankfurter meal and have fun with the infinite mirror trick (two large mirrors on opposite walls make it looks like infinite you's from parallel universes have all decided to meet in your respective Wimpy's.

I HAD A ROOM IN MY HOUSE WITH THIS EFFECT, TOO!!!! It is impossible to be in that situation and not automatically realize that you’re looking at trillions of alternate universes at once.

I have some family who take me to In-N-Out any time I visit, I don't get the appeal. I miss the Checkers that used to be near me *so much* though.
Culver's is a pretty good burger place in the States if you have one nearby. It's a Wisconsin chain.
The burgers are pretty good, but I really liked their shakes.

(I don't know why I'm tormenting myself thinking about all this, I had to cut fast food out of the budget years ago).
