Anime Which trope in Anime you like and which you don't like?

My favorite trope is when the opening theme song begins and ends the same way.
As in, the song's beginning Melody is the same as it's end.
My least favorite, however:
Pervert characters.
They're not (and have never been) funny at all.
(With some exceptions)

Love: Slow moving scenes, to take in the atmosphere; and to save money on animation ;)

e.g. the elevator scene with asuka and rei in evangelion.

Good movies do this, they don't tell you what the character thinks, they let you speculate.

Hate: slice of life anime, kinda boring.

What's the fuck this show's deal? I went into it thinking it was just about developing eroge for 90s computers but then it hits me with some matrix-level, time traveling shit.
I'm confused about that.

I don't like when the story revolves around a chosen one, seems lazy and more of the same. I also don't like fillers that are too long or don't add anything to the story or characters. I like characters improving over time, both their personality as their skills.
A chosen one story could work when done well.

I mean Dune is basically about it and is considered to be one of the greatest piece of fiction.

As character development I kinda like when they end up being darker and more radical as things evolve.

Yeah, but it rarely does in anime lol, at least the ones i saw were bad.

It's a cool twist, i like it as well. Just like Anakin becoming Darth Vader

Favorite Anime Trope
- Characters who grow, form actual meaningful relationship with other characters and earn their happy endings.
- Good world building, I'm in love with Dungeon Meshi's world building! Every chapter of the manga introduces something that is expands the world building and can be relevant to the plot in future chapters!
Or how Frieren: Beyond Journey's End set the rules for using magic.
- BIG MEN/OLD MEN who are the Team's Dad

HATED Anime Trope
- Character who explains everything that is happening in a battle
- Idiot Unlikable Protagonists who gets 0 Character development (Recent example Bucchigiri?!)
- Anime with Beastfolks where the Males are actual Anthro animal men but the females are just human women with animal cosplay accessories.
- Anime where the protagonist looks like Kirito from Sword Art Online! A Gary Stu, Made to be "Relatable Self Insert" to the audience! Pic Related
b01.gif

- Fanservice! Made EVEN WORSE when the Faservice gets shoved in a scene of an episode with huge serious tone, not only it destroys the scene's tone and it comes out as extremely Desperated (Fire Force DROPPED After Episode 9!)
Mood Whiplash is not enough to describe it ::sadkirby

Western anime fans kinda mocked the hairstyle back then but in retrospect it's also what made some iconic.

I liked sword art online. But yes when everyone copies it, it gets rather tiring.

So many based replies… besides that one guy

Just want to add on that fanservice can get really annoying really fast. I get appealing to fans and it’s tolerable when it’s written okay, but fanservice can easily get way too in your face

like : silent protag
dislike: pervy characters, tsundere and the main character is always gonna win

I hate socially awkward and anxious characters like Bocchi, Tomoko, Komi, Midoriya to a lesser extent but kind of. I don't relate to them in the slightest and they're pathetic, not cute.

For what I like: Chad perverts like Roshi, Jiraiya, Onizuka, and Lupin. Bouncing boobies and pantyshot fanservice. Villains who are just evil, like Dio, with no deep explanation or relatability.

Fanservice of all kinds is my favorite anime trope. All the boobage!

My least favorite anime trope is when a romance or conflict or battle or whatever takes several episodes to start moving again. The stalling drives me nuts. This is one of the benefits of manga, since you can spend as much or little time on a particular arc as you want.

I like the Bladerunner type of machine consciousness themes in stuff like Ghost in the Shell. I love elaborately drawn outrageous sleezy body horror. I also like the monster of the month episodic horror based on Japanese folklore and stuff like Mushishi and Mononoke.

I lose all interest when writers start "killing" characters off and then set up these tragic moments only to bring the people usually like right back to life due to some contrived nonsense. It's so cheap and the show loses all tension and sense of stakes lol. I know that's something that happens in other media than anime too but it's REALLY bad in that world.

I got no favorite trope I just like a good story that get me engaed.

Tropes I hate is. Violent girls always being up the main charter for every mistake he makes and yet he falls for the same girl they must be masochists.

Annoying girls will never be cute the are only annoying.

Perverted Male charters in sexist towards males and just insulting. If you gonna have a pervert male then also have a pervert female.

Power of loves saves the days it never will and history has proven love has caused more wars than it should have so no Power of love is bull. Also power of friend ships is bull we all know that no human alive has friends like that. Yes I know it´s anime and anime never makes sense but a bit if realism never hurt and it´s just a tired trope at this point.

The one where the main character gets his ass kicked really bad, but because his friends are his power, he unlocks a new transformation or totally OP ability and starts making the antagonist shit his pants lol.

I don't like or dislike a trope. A trope is but a tool. There is no such thing as a good tool or a bad tool. Its how you use is that matters.

I don't know if it's a proper trope but when the antagonist does a hard damage on the main character, stays on the ground, has him saying something like "finally, he's down so I can continue my scheme" then the protag gets up as if nothing happened while throwing a small quip (such as "already done? I was merely warming up." then finally the antagonist getting surprised ("You're still not dead?").

It's both expected yet still badass to see that the character can survive a hard strike.

I just generally hate mean, angry, obnoxious, and in some cases, really dumb characters that I feel like the writers expect us to like for some reason such as:

Katsuki Bakugo

iu

Asuka Langley

iu

Texas from Motorcity

iu

or characters who are straight up evil and yet they are the protagonist and people love them for some reason like Kira from Death Note who actually had people rooting for him while watching the show. I can't stand this jerk.

iu

I don't like when the story revolves around a chosen one
This can be annoying too because other characters never get to shine or have their arcs ruined so that the "chosen one" can get the big moment instead of them. Vegeta and Robby Keene fans know what I'm talking about.

Like: long-term payoff.

When you start with a really flawed character and slowly build your way up from mediocrity until, at the very least, acceptable performance. It feels earned without losing sight of what happened first.

Hate: Titanium-strong plot armor.

Let the characters suffer a bit, damn it.

I hate the girl fall in love with boy insantly if he saves her stupid ass. LOVE DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT.

I hate the romance show where the girl is a damn bitch and when boys ignore her then she is suddenly interested ??? and yet even when she treats MC badly when she suddenly start to show interest he comes crawling back like a dog.

Or stupid girl forget to lock door dude walks in and she beats his ass like no tomorrow. Anime are expert on beating up men for mistakes.

I hate when they have bad guys and then suddenly we shall forgive their murders or other crimes and just like them ?? Like how a game Im playing diced we shall feel sorry for a shity charter and forgive her planing on murdering a whole city. And show how it works every one loves that psycho girl for some weird reason. I come to the conclusion people love psychotic killers.

I hate MC that get treated like shit and when they have the power to end does bad people they don´t so they end up having to deal with their shitty person more than once. We need more anime's with charters like Hajime Nagumo he had no issue killing his class mate when they turned out to be shitty people that started killing others.

And I hate Annoying MC like Naruto, Luffy, and more even when I was young I hated them because even I was not that loudmouth of annoying as a kid. IS that how adults see all kids ??

Honestly I can come up with more tropes I hate than I like. Sure I have my favorite anime´s that are hated by every western anime fan. But it´s genre´s and not tropes.

Like: When the opening changes a little with the plot advancements. And bad guy from first season comes back as a good guy.

Dislike: Romcom where the boy and girl obviously like each other but they drag out not knowing or dodging it for multiple seasons...
