I tend to look at them like this:

PS1: A lot of good games, but the library is still highly experimental. A vast "hit-or-miss" feel that has some real gems nonetheless.

PS2: A ton of good games with some weird stuff on the side. This one's my pick day in and day out.

PS3: Not as many great games, but still boasts a few solid franchises and one-offs that keep it interesting.

PS4: Way too many remakes/remasters and sequels. What's original is all good, but there isn't enough of it to go around.

PS5: It has no fucking games.

It always amazes me. No matter where I see one of these polls about Sony's best home console, the PS2 always wins hands down, in almost a landslide victory, and with good reason. It has an absolute record amount of good games. ::neku-jam

Even some of its bad games are still good, so to speak. I think the PS2 has a library of about 4,300 to 4,400 games at the end of its life. I think the PS1 had as many or close to that. How many does the PS3 have? 1,200? 2,000? ::cirnoshrug

The PS4? 3,500. The PS5? (laughs) 3? Okay, seriously barely, and maybe just a bit over 1,000. ::sailor-embarrassed

Now with each console, how many would be good? The PS1 probably at least 60% the PS2 easily 80% the PS3, I'll be fair and say 45-50% the PS4 and PS5 maybe 20% combined. ::cirnoshrug

So yeah, I bet when the PS12 comes along and this poll is posted again somewhere on the internet 30 years from now or whatever, the PS2 will still freaking win the vote. ::neku-jam

I concur
The PS2 will never be dethroned.

I think the only way they could dethrone it would be to re-release the entire game library of the PS2 on the next console. Then, ya I would say that the PS console is better, even though it would just be riding on the PS2's Dick coattails

I think people are underrating the PS4, but they're likely ignoring all of the amazing indie games and obscure Japanese titles. And I have no doubt they are completely ignoring the PSVR library.

There is literally NO Playstation console that doesn't have an amazing library...except the PS5. The red headed step child of the Playstation brand.
