Impossible to reach the heights of the PS2, the variety, third party support, creative and weird ideas on display are still unmatched. With the industry being the way it is now, all the risks being taken back then will certainly not happen again.

I personally think the PS3 has some amazingly underated games and because is also the console i played the most tbh it wins. The Other ones are also great (except for the 5) but i feel the PS3 deserves more love when back in the day they actually tried to do good games. And a strong point is that PS3 games look like they did not age a thing, PS2 and PSX games have that retro charm but there are moments where is unbearable to be fluent with them. Also all the franchises that achieved their peak in that era, the old COD, GoW3, the best Uncharted games, prime Battlefield, the Arkham series, Gran Turismo, Infamous, prime Bioshock and the glorious saga of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, i could keep going. Maybe on the RPG side they kinda flawed but you gotta give it to them.

It's hard to argue with the PS2 considering it's massive library, the PS1 had a bunch of classics too and it's my personal favorite of them all, however recently i've really fallen in love with the ps3, a console which i never had and just now i'm starting to discover some of it's hidden gems, there's certainly a lot of good underrated games in there, specially some that never left japan, the PS4 has a few good unknown games too! the PS5 is.... arguable, but at least it can play the PS4 games

The Playstation 5 is also fine but when it comes to games unfortunately, this device didn't achieve much except that the graphics got better and I have the same fear for the Playstation 6 that there won't be much more to come !

My god Im glad Im not the crazy one to say PS2. Too many solid game AND Kingdom Hearts! Can't really say PS3 because once the PS2 EM goes out it becomes a paperweight.

For my money, I have to say it is the PS4. The PS1 and PS2 are rightfully considered legendary consoles and I have definitely have had great times with both of them but I have spent the most time and as a result, have developed so much good memories with the PS4. It introduced me to the Yakuza series in which every main entry is now available on it, has a crazy diverse library of AAA and indie with everything in between, some really great exclusives (I especially liked Last Guardian, Spiderman and Horizon: Zero Dawn) and genres which were really lacking in the PS3 era such as JRPGs and 3D platformers made a big comeback. It also finally realised that HD graphics can look even nicer when it is in colours other than gray and brown, who would have thought! There is still such a insane backlog of games I have to try out for the PS4 that I do not feel the need at all to even look at the PS5. To be honest, once I have gotten all I can out of the PS4, I think I will retire from console gaming. The future of consoles is looking pretty uncertain and the prices are getting out of control. When the time comes to put away the PS4, it will be the Steam Deck for me.

My vote would go to PS1 if it wasn't for the fact that the PS2 can play both libraries.

I'd say that not only does the PS2 have the best library among PlayStation consoles, but one of the best roster's of games of any console ever made. The PS2 was just built different.

This is like choosing between what do you prefer to eat with spaguetti, red shit or red tomato?

Many opinions here would suggest PS2 has the best catalogue hands down, followed by PS1, and I agree, but for some reason I ended having more PS4 than PS2 games. I don't know why it happened, but unintentionally my subconscious told me the PS4 catalogue is big and there are tons of games I like, because I don't buy games I don't like (well, 99% of time lol).

Since PS3, Sony started focusing on graphics for selling because games started to be mainstream, and that's what sells. Otherwise Marvel movies would be drama genre without action nor effects.

But it wasn't until PS5 that everything got really screwed (actually a little bit before). It never happened before that a machine advertised as 2160p runs most of the games at 1080p. Even PS4 had a few running at 900p, which is not that much different. I even think Cyberpunk 2077 is runnig at 720p, for obvious reasons, but there are also PS5 games running at 720~1080p, which is REALLY sad.

And that could be the main reason PS5 is alone, por thing. It won't have time to grow up because it was born damaged.

Well, I don't want to keep rambling anymore, or I will get a "serious" reprimend lol.

PS2 > PS4 > PS1 > PS3 > Xbox 360

I voted PS2, of course, but a lot of comments also are not very appreciative of PS3, even PS4 and such. PS2 does not need introduction but PS3 still gave stuff like Nier (Gestalt/Replicant), continuation of Suda51's weird games, more Way of the Samurai after PS2, a lot of weird and even weeby JRPG's, with Xbox 360 arguably a golden re-age of fighting games that still is not quite like it used to be since then, as digital distribution made companies re-release classics from last generation like Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Street Fighter 3rd strike and Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus (later with +R as a free update) and many more that would some disappear and take years, almost decade to be officially available again. PS3 was a slowly built up generation of good stuff in it's own right, though the multi-platform focus and PS3 being initially weaker in those titles makes the identity meld to background, though there was great, if not last great Naughty Dog games on PS3, with Last of Us being universally more acclaimed than it's follow up, same going for Uncharted trilogy versus it's last game on PS4. Also, while cheating, I think HD releases were also in their stride on PS3, especially Metal Gear Solid collection which plays "as it should" with official DualShock 3 controllers on PS3 compared to any other versions of the games.

There is same to be said for PS1 as well, for sure, but most people know that, and with PS4 though even for me, with the console and somewhat expansive library, cannot say much of it's exclusives or semi exclusives and even few of them leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I got to experience both Death Stranding and Days Gone on PS4 pro which was great time, but Sony being Sony killed off follow up for Days Gone leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I quite enjoyed that game in it's entirety.

Generally multi platform has ripped identity of gaming consoles, though many of "PS2 greatest games" are also such, like GTA games, even Silent Hill 2, but most people would agree things were quite different with Xbox 360 generation and onward.

PS2, that whole generation was amazing: gaming was big enough so they can have money to actually do stuff, but also not that much so corpos didnt put that attention to it, so devs have more freedom to try and do great things.

And great things they did:
Metal Gear Solid 3
Ace Combat
Gran Turismo
Devil May Cry
God Hand

And a big etc that Im just missing.
