All right I wanna start a discussion on Atlus due to the Raidou Remaster coming out for OG Switch, So I want to know which game made by Atlus is your all-time no 1 favorite in their library and also why you think Metaphor Refantazio should have won game of the year?

sole hackers on the sega saturn
it is the soul best atlus game
hardeehohohohohoho
the setting reminds me of the harbour city i grew up in, the art direction, music, and characters are so to my liking you would think i was dancing on kaneko and okada's shoulders while the game was being made

I havent played all of them of course but if i had to go with which Atlus game i liked the best it's either Etrian Odyssey 4,Persona 1 or Groove on Fight

I got a few that most of you forget exist:
Power Instinct, Growlanser, Princess Crown, Gunbird, Battle B-Daman, Trauma Center, Radiant Historia, Dragon's Crown, Tex Murphy, 13 Sentinels

Its always 3 (except when it is 2)

SMT 3: Nocturne
Etrian Odyssey 3
Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Unicorn Overlord
PS1 Tactics Ogre
Gungir
Odin Sphere

ATLUS has such a strong lineup...well, if you’re more into dark, hardcore turn-based stuff with philosophical overtones and demons everywhere, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne (especially the HD Remaster) is a wild, unforgettable ride.

Technically I’d say something like Etrian Odyssey III, SMT V Vengeance, Baroque, Deep Labyrinth, 7th Dragon 2020, Code of Princess, Dragon’s Crown, Odin Sphere, or Princess Crown but I wanna be different

Stella Glowers where y’all at

Completely forgot Atlus has an Arcade board, this means Dodonpachi is on the table

agreed I experienced this one on meh Steam Deck (HD remaster) after recovering from a dystonia episode where I lost cognitive function for a few days - made it an even bigger mindfuck than it already would've been. a little scary during that time of vulnerability but I sure don't regret it in hindsight

n wut, no love for PSx Guilty Gear 1? or Friday the 13th for NES xD LJN published it but Atlus were the devs responsible for that atrocity! I love Guilty Gear series but Atlus only published it (everyone knows Arc Sys Works developed every GG)

jus kiddin Atlus you know you mah boy! Persona 4 Ultimax is a helluva time. bust yer fight sticks out! it's time to settle accounts! wut accounts? our uhh.. err user accounts! (??) wutevR there's no room for makin sense at this point - onLy room for ~PRETENTIOUS MELODRAMA~ Lezzzzz gooooooooooo

A lot of you are confusing Atlus-published with Atlus-developed. Broque and Gungnir are Sting. Unicorn, Sentinels, Dragon and Princess Crown, and Odin are Vanillaware. 7th Dragon and Stella Glow are Imgeepoch (may they rest in peas). Dodonpachi is Cave. They published a lot of really solid games, I'll admit.

If we're going off best, I'd say Etrian Odyssey III, or Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. EO3 has probably the best classes to play with (beyond Hexer), and SJ feels more like a perfect SMT game than what came before and after, on top of having mechanics that are just weirdly absent from later games (such as enemy demons noticing if you're lugging a corpse of their species around). If we're going off my personal favourites, I like the jank of Trauma Center DS and Etrian Odyssey I to the point they endear me more than their better made sequels. Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker is easily the best of the 3DS era, owing in part to the god tier voice acting on top of what's already a great game. Trauma Team is great, aside from the endoscopy stuff. Shin Megami Tensei 1 also holds up incredibly well, having first played it last year. Just play the PS1 version.

Dunno if this counts cause they just published it... But first that came to my mind as my favorite with their "stamp". RIP Quest, what a banger to go out with ::sadkirby
Tactics Ogre - The Knight of Lodis (USA)-210710-202112.png

Wait Atlus made Battle B-DaMan for the GBA I played the rom I have of it and it was so much fun to play

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. As a big Vanillaware fan, I cannot stand it when people mostly end up crediting Atlus for their games.

Anyway, I'm personally a big fan of the Trauma Center series, with New Blood and Team probably being my favorites. I love a good medical drama and honestly both games show that Atlus can tell a more comparatively down to earth story. Yes, there is shit like the Healing Touch and super viruses, but at the same time, it feels a lot more realistic than most of their output and that's something I really appreciate about the Trauma Center series.

Persona 5 strikers without a doubt. I enjoyed that game as you cant imagine

My favourites are SMT Strange Journey, the Etrian Odyssey series and Snowboard Kids.

I was going to say exactly that. Atlus was publishing nearly every RPG coming out in the West for a while, let's stick to what they actually made. And they didn't even publish 7th Dragon, that was Sega. Princess Crown really was Atlus, though. It was the last game made by their Osaka studio, which created the Power Instinct series prior to it. Vanillaware was started by some of their former staff (along with Noise Factory).

For me, the perfect Atlus game doesn't exist from what I've seen. That's because the overall atmosphere, settings, themes and aesthetics in their games was peak in the 16 and 32-bit eras, but the gameplay was still weak (very basic, boring combat in SMT 1 - 2 or Persona 2, horrible game-ruining pacing in SRPGs like Majin Tensei 2). Then they really improved the gameplay by adding complexity, more challenge, and lowering encounters, but the games no longer looked, sounded, or felt as cool as their '90s and early '00s stuff. This switch probably happened around the time Koji Okada left (2003). But I need to play more of their stuff overall.

Stella Glow is one of my favorite on 3DS, sadly Imgeepoch went bankrupt ::sadkirby.

Including me, until I search more and found out that Atlus is published, not actually make that game. Also, talk about Sting Entertainment, I think Riviera and Yggdra Union are great too and deserved to praise.

To be fair the question never specified “Atlus developed,” so it’s reasonable to assume published games count too, given that Atlus’s name appears on a lot of stuff

The comment under the header specifically says made by Atlus, fuck I’m completely wrong
