I have been getting the interest lately in testing my hand at porting games from one system to another. Just I ended up wanting to port to a system that is considered one of the hardest to code for, the Saturn. So before I let my day dreams get out of hand I should probably learn how to code and which languages I should focus on. Any advice on which coding languages I should look into? Hopefully boot dev has courses for those languages.

Porting really depends on what you want to port and where. I guess the most useful languages for you would be C and assembly. Maybe you can find a good SDK for the Saturn and start from there. It would be great if you have the source code of the game you want to port first.

What inspired me down this path was a thread on I think SegaXtreme of whatever that forums is called where they are discussing the feasibility of porting Sonic CD to the Saturn. Sure I didn't understand anything being talked about but it interested me to stop being on the side lines waiting for others and for me to try learning and doing :p
