What's YOUR personal GOAT on all the consoles you can name/own (Greatest game of all time)

Metroid Fusion is my pick for the greatest game of all time. Not because of any objective metrics or anything like that, but simply because I’ve finished it over 100 times. I remember one Sunday as a bored teenager, I played through it three times in a single day. Back then, I could finish it in under three hours, and I’m pretty sure I could still do it today, just with fewer health and missile containers. My first playthrough took around 15 hours because I got stuck a few times, and I didn’t have the internet back then to look things up.

What makes it special for me is the atmosphere. It plays so well, the graphics are great, and it was my first Metroid game. I loved the oppressive vibe, the constant communication with the computer AI, and the philosophical theme, especially in the ending. The music was memorable, the boss fights were tense, and it just clicked with me in every way. I think it might be my favorite Game Boy Advance game. Actually, it has to be, since it’s my favorite game overall.

It might not be the game I’d take to a deserted island if I could only choose one, but it’s still my favorite. I played it constantly for years, finishing it every few months from when I first got it until maybe six or seven years ago. I still boot it up now and then, but I haven’t fully replayed it. That said, I know I’ll play it again in the future. It’s just one of those games for me.

Warcraft III + TFT.
There are also candidates very close to this:
Civilization V, NFS V Porshe Unleashed, Persona 5 Royal and Mount & Blade Warband.

There is just something so good about versions 40-90 of global maplestory. I can throw so many hours of my life into it and never be mad only burned out. As the years pass I crave it again and until Lloyd can ever fully shut those versions down I will continue my homage probably until the day I die and I may replay a game here and there, but no other games have that same place in my heart. The early ish MMO days were just so fun.

I have a hard time choosing between Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country. Both very different but so good!

Oof, no way is there any option to just single out one single game with this. Too many good games, too many good consoles, too much of everything basically. Going by the game with the most impact in my time with video games, it would probably be Gran Turismo on the PS1.

That game absolutely had everything for me during that time. Banger soundtrack (Original JP version rocks good, but the PAL version always did it for me), banger vehicles (GTO for life) and my lord, the gameplay. Seeing night courses like Special Stage Route 11 or Clubman 5 for the first time, with cars speeding and blending with the night scenery still leaves me stunned after all those years.

For all the love Moon over the Castle rightfully deserves, the EU/US opening with Everything Must Go from The Chemical Brothers still manage to give me goosebumps, especially when it builds up and the engine starts revving until that yellow Impreza breaks all your senses and jumps on the screen. Pure bliss.

No doubt that GT2 improved on almost every single aspect of the game and, depending on what region you ask, the music as well, but nothing quite catches the same magic that GT1 gave me back then. Also, let's ignore the fact that Special Stage Route 11 was missing.

My best list (for me):
Atari 2600: Megamania
GB: Kirby's Dream Land
GBC: Metal Gear Solid - Ghost Babel
GBA: Advance Wars
NES: Mappy
SNES: Super Mario World
Gamecube: Luigi's Mansion
Wii: Punch Out
Switch: Animal Crossing
PSP: Final Fantasy Tactics
PS Vita: Nuclear Throne
PS: Castlevania - Symphony of the Night
PS2: Silent Hill 2
PS3: Dark Souls II
PS4: Rez Infinite
Genesis/MegaDrive: Rocket Knight Adventures
Dreamcast: Cosmic Smash
DOS: Alley Cat
PC: Shotgun King
NeoGeo Pocket: Neo Turf Masters
Arcade: Dig Dug
C64: Ducks Ahoy

Best of them all (for me): Nuclear Throne

Ikaruga! Even 20 years later, I can see how I get better at parsing info and chaining content, though the symbolism of the game and the fact you can never technically perfect it (you could always eat/absorb just one more pellet) makes me love it dearly. Also it's artstyle is a big deal. So minimal, yet so distinct (and above 90 megs or so for the whole game's disk size IIRC removing empty data). Just awesome. :)

Beyond good and Evil
Silent Hill 2 (original version, I haven’t played the remake)
Final Fantasy 6
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Tales of Symphonia

I've never played a life changing game (which is why I'm here), but the closest I've found is Minecraft. Theres nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Its perfectly imperfect, where its flaws are as endearing as its triumphs. I still play on 1.7.10 to this day, and let my old account be swallowed up by Microsoft. The Minecraft I loved died when they took it over, but I frequently visit its grave to leave some flowers.

Edit: Scrolls was another really fun game by Mojang, but it died before it could really get going. It didn't stand a chance against hearthstone, but I feel like it could have sustained itself had Bethesda not been so litigious about the name.

Honestly I don´t like the Aspect of 1 game that´s the best of all time. Honestly would say I have several games that I enjoy allot and all in different Genre.

But lets pretend there is only game in the world that´s I had most fun time with. Heroes of might and magic II.

But in fact, the specific thread was born (or at least I personally perceived it that way) in the context of that specific game that marked in our imagination the 'entry into the world of video game play.

Obviously, not of the "whim of the game of the moment," but of THAT specific game, which has left in each of us an indelible mark in our personal growth as video gamers.

In my specific case it was a The Last Ninja for CBM64 (first gaming machine).

I loved dressing up as the Armakuni Ninja and playing what can be called for all intents and purposes; the first puzzle-isometric fighting game in video game history.

Also, I loved the open spaces and the 'oriental aspect of the game, along with the wonderful (for those times) soundtrack that accompanied it.

Well when you put it that way, let’s change it up a bit:
Greatest of all time on all the consoles you can think of/own

One for each console, did I understand correctly? It doesn't make much sense, there are too many different and incomparable genres. 🤔
Anyway here some titles: Wario Land on DMG001, Kirby Dreamland on NES, YS IV on PCE-CD, Monster World IV on MD, Tales of Phantasia on SNES, Bejewel Twist on Mobile, Lunar Walking School on GG, Mother 3 on GBA, Tales of Innocence on DS , SRWA on PSP, F.F.8 on PSX, Yu-No on PC98 and then I got tired of thinking about other consoles. 😅
