Bulk Slash by Hudson-soft / 1997 on Sega Saturn

Has everything I enjoy in video games; fast arcade-esqe action, piloting large mechas (transforming robots at that), large bosses, colorful 3D/2D hybrid graphics, animated cut-scenes I could go on. This was the time I dove into the sea of imports Sega Saturn had to offer in the early 2000s through torrents. Growing up I owned a Saturn in '96 and played that little localized games that were released in NA. I wrote a review of it back in the day then posted it on GameFAQs. I remember the time I bought it CIB on eBay for thirty bucks, before the YouTube reviewers started releasing videos and having the price annually increase.

Silhouette Mirage by Treasure / 1997 on Sega Saturn, PlayStation

Huge fan of developer Treasure ever since I played Gunstar Heroes on Genesis. Made a fan website back in the day on Angelfire (and then Geocities, anyone remember those?) and have fond memories buying the PlayStation game new at Circuit City in 1998 with my parents. Creative weapon upgrades, characters, stages, bosses, animated cut-scenes, memorable soundtrack are few of my reasons it's my favorite game. To be honest I never finished the game back in the day, it was only recently when the Saturn English translation patch was released I eventually completed it and seen the ending all these years later.

Two contenders though would be Metal Gear Solid and Monster Hunter (starting from Freedom Unite) series

First is known for it's polished, attention to details and great story, while the other is because YOU'RE HUNTING A BIG MONSTER over and over again to build your own armor off it (trying to kill it is the fun part though)

For me, i came in at around tri, i rented it back when rental stores were on their final set of legs i didnt officially settle in until about i want to say 4 on 3DS
as for MGS...

This is almost impossible to answer. I could give some contenders maybe but there's no way I could definitively state my favourite game of all time. Would it be something that impacted me the most? Something I always replay? Something I had the most fun with? I guess I'll give a little list of games in no particular order of some of my favourites;
-Diablo 2.
-Mass Effect 1-3 (I know, three games- but I can't decide between them)
-Neverwinter Nights.
-Street Fighter 4.
-Dragon Age 2. I love and hate this game, it is terrible but it is also beautiful.
-Ninja Gaiden Black. I played so much NGB when I around 13 or 14, I got to the point where I was doing no item master ninja runs with specific weapons.
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
-Might and Magic 6. It was my first article on this site, even.

Replay-ability - nearly endless

Its just great and its the only game I would truly miss if the power went out forever.

Also, I can't answer that question, but I can say that when it comes to classic JRPG, Chrono Trigger is the perfect JRPG game, like, peak 16 bits era jrpg. Everything that was learned from Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest up to that point cooked in a delicious jrpg soup. Not many games are like that.

I hope you enjoy the series. I also love Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2, but to play those, you'll need an Xbox.
As for Chrono Trigger, I always see people saying great things about it! There are so many great games and so little time. I feel like I've just started gaming.

Silent Hill 2 (2001) a beautiful and bittersweet pain in the very core of my soul. (I'm not played the remake yet). Shadow of the Colossus, MGS, GTA Vice City, most wonderful soundtrack and list songs of all GTA games even better than San Andreas in that sense.
Once, I played a game called Blood Will Tell and I have good memories about it, so I'm gonna include it here. And my always beloved RE4, RE1, and RE1 Remake of course.

Blood Will Tell?

Yeah, man! That Dororo game is great style-wise. Jank and can be pretty obscure, but, man, I love the atmosphere and the way they handle the story that adapted the manga.

That's for sure! When I started the game I remember to be absolutely caught up with the plot. A samurai with a machinegun, transhumanism in the feudal Japan, blades and hit all kinda hellspawns. I couldn't resist that.

Games like Arkham city, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Dragon Age Origins and FF6 are what I would consider Goat. Also would like to mention the 1997 Blade Runner game, it deserves more praise.

- As a 9 year-old when it released, Super Mario 64 felt revolutionary.
- Shortly after, FFVII also felt like another huge leap forward.
- Resident Evil 2 a year later was a big deal, every dude in existence owned this game. Code Veronica was owned by everyone with a Dreamcast.
- Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 2, and GTA 3 all came out within a month of each other, and again it felt like things were taking big steps forward.
- Consistently high quality games were made for the rest of the PS2 era, but it took a few years into the 360/PS3 era for things to move forward again. Bioshock, Fallout 3, GTA 4, Bioshock 2, and Red Dead Redemption (along with the best DLC in the history of gaming, Undead Nightmare). Those 5 (well, 6, if you count Undead Nightmare) games were hugely important.
- The Last of Us felt like the next big step forward from this point.
- Now, games have progressed so much, it's rare for anything to feel epic or unique. RDR2 is one of the last games I can remember where it felt like a big, societal event, The Last of Us 2 probably counts as well.

Out of all of these, Super Mario 64, FFVII, Code Veronica: X, Silent HIll 2, Bioshock 2, RDR 1, The Last of Us, RDR2, and The Last of Us 2, are in my top 10.

This is easy for me, because it's been Dungeon Master since I first played it on the Atari ST. A number of factors at the time cemented it–the atmosphere and immersion, the visuals (being an early 16-bit game for me having come from the ZX Spectrum and C64), the feeling of freedom it gave within its world in terms of taking things at your own pace, and then the overall design of it. The layouts and puzzles, the sense of delving deeper into the dangerous unknown, the arcane but logical magic system.

Importantly though, it holds up. Through emulation and source code reconstructions it's remained very available, and I've re-played it countless times over the years. Nigh on 40 years since I first played it I can't imagine anything coming along that has the same impact or lasting effect on me.

Things below it shuffle about but there are constants there. Phantasy Star Online, Diablo III, Vagrant Story, Celeste, Fez, and Final Fantasy Tactics are probably staying in my Top Ten forever.

It's a pity that there are no other game like it.
It's the excelent mix of Diablo and JRPG.
I've try other Diablo like games to try to replicate the experince but its not the same.

I never put more than a cursory amount of time into the other versions I'm afraid, aside from its direct follow-up Chaos Strikes Back on Amiga. Even the eventual true sequel was a disappointment to me. Nexus seemed interesting, but honestly once you take away the grid-based movement and M&K controls it removes it enough from what I like to make it kind of irrelevant.
