What's your favorite rhythm game? And what's so special about it?

I play Beat Saber almost everyday. Also RagnaRock, Rocksmith2014 (but use ToneLib Jam instead) and CloneHero (with edrums).

Beat Saber is maybe the best rythm game out there. And last I checked Meta was OK with torrenting terabytes of stuff, so dont buy it, just get it for free.
Ragnarock is also extremely fun, french indie title, and I started to create my own maps for songs that are not available in the main game.

Right now Sound Voltex.

Gameplay is rad and the difficulty gradually increases allowing you to get better without frustration.

Instinctively jumped in to see who'd mention Vib Ribbon before me
No one did, I'm disappointed now

Best part about this game? PS1 game. PS1 can load any CD ever and you can set it like it was normal in game music. This applies to Vib Ribbon too, as it creates it's own unique maps based on how the music plays.

The Michael Jackson map is insane

If I ever stop slacking around and get my DDR Mats figured out on Batocera I would be dead set voting on Dance Dance Revolution Extreme. But for a Rhythm game that doesn't require extra accessories it would have to be DJ Max Portable International on the PSP.

for a few years now its been stepmania but played with a ps4 controller in the way id play project diva. its the only way i know. i did tape a cheap dance pad to a piece of plywood but i never got the hang of ddr

More recently, Hi-Fi Rush

More recently, Hi-Fi Rush. Feels like a throwback to the highly stylized games from the 6th generation, like Jet Set Radio and Samba de Amigo (in fact, one boss has a pretty blatant homage to Space Channel 5).

My favorite is Project Diva 2nd on my PSP Go. The loading screens are just too charming and could only be a product of early 2000s otaku culture. Other than that would be any Project Diva arcade cabinet, though I really want to give Jubeat a try.

Dance Dance Revolution. it gave me finger endurance for fingerbanging chicks. i never used a dance pad, just played on a controller.

Definitely Rhythm Heaven DS, but the Wii version is great too. We can't ignore the contributions the barbershop boys have made to our culture.

Does the Karaoke in Yakuza counts? That's my favourite among the ones that I've played so far.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, because... well, it's Final Fantasy :)
It's chibi, colourful, full of FF music, lots of modes and characters and collectibles.
I've loved both titles for DS and the Switch one.

I also quote the post about Deemo and Cytus: bought them for my Vita back then, "Cytus" on the PSM store and "Deemo" physical from PlayAsia
