N64 What's your favorite Nintendo 64 games?

QUEST 64 RRAAAHHHHH
But seriously, Kirby 64 is majorly underrated, truly depressing that it's wonderful final boss shares a name with the fringe saving grace of a mediocre mecha anime.

Two of my favorite gamers growing up were Gex 64 and Donkey Kong 64 i assumed everyone loved them too but it doesn't seem to be the case. My Childhood games have been turned into lame irony memes :(

I genuinely dig DK64. Game rules. I actually had no idea people hated on it for the longest time. I've read why peeps find it problematic, I can respect that perspective, I just never experienced the same frustrations; they simply don't ring true for me.
This game makes me smile like no other. I think people are just jealous of how much fun us moneky enjoyers are having

The N64 was my first console I ever properly owned so I have a lot of fond memories of it. Lot of games for this system I enjoy but my absolute favourites are Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, Lylat Wars and Sin and Punishment. All of these titles have in one way or another influenced a lot of my gaming tastes and preferences to this day. The N64 may have had a quite modest gaming library comapred to the Nintendo consoles before it and especially the Playstation at the time but what it had made a huge impression on the gaming industry as a whole and really showed what 3D graphics could bring to the table.

Aside from the heavy hitters like Paper Mario, Banjo-Kazooie, Pokemon Stadium 2, and Majora's Mask (best Zelda game by the way), I've gotta shout-out my main man Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon.

Such an imaginative, eccentric Zelda-like experience that, in spite of its flaws, is just so fun to play. In lieu of any particular objectively measurable qualities, I'lll just leave it at: It's got the vibes.

To put this simpially and easy, all you guys need to know about me is that Im a Huge Bomberman Fan,"Bomberman 64" (Released in japan as Baku! Bomberman) was one of my fav Nintendo 64 Games growing up and it's what got me into the "Bomberman" Series in general,I also Own Bomberman Hero and Bomberman 64: The 2nd Attack ^^

but I do love alot of other N64 games as well which include,Mischeif Makers,Super Mario 64,Diddy Kong Racing,Jet Force Gemeni,Mystical Ninja 64: Starring Goemon (Released in japan as Ganbare Goemon: Neo Momoyama Bakufu no Odori (がんばれゴエモン~ネオ桃山幕府のおどり~? lit. "Go for it, Goemon: Dance of the Neo Peach Mountain Shogunate"), Goemon's Great Adventure (Released in japan as Ganbare Goemon Derodero Dōchū Obake Tenko Mori),

tumblr_nqydws3x571tu022ro2_1280 SDDDDD.jpg

These 2 along with "Legend of the Mystical Ninja" (Super Nintendo) were the only few Goemon Games in Konami's Ganbare Goemon series to ever get official localized releases back in the day which sadly none of the Later Super Famicom Sequels nor any of the Playstation 1 Games ever got localized over here, but i'm real happy that one of those PS1 Ganbare Goemon games finnally got an English Fantranslation here,Which is why I love this site and CDRommance (Which i;m also happy you guys also finnally fan translated the Bomberman Jetters Game Boy Advance Game!)

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards,Zelda Ocerina of time. Gex 64: Enter the Gecko, and Castlevania 64 was also a guilty pleasure of mine despite it's huge flaws.lol (Carrie Fernadez was my fav character to use in that game!)

So many good entries in this thread... I'll not comment on every single of them because it's easier to name which of my favorite games aren't on the N64. ::biggrin

This game is the love of my life. I've started playing it not too long ago and I've beaten it 14 times already with Carrie Fernandez every time

I love Enter the Gecko, but I prefer the ps1 version

My Childhood games have been turned into lame irony memes :(
If I hear a Scott the Woz joke in this thread I swear to god I'm going to lose it ::mad

Now for my own contribution... behold the best Tetris ever, the one that truly pushed the formula forward while staying true to its roots. I'll never stop shilling this game.

Super Mario 64, BomberMan 64, Kirby 64, Sin & Punishment, Banjo-Kazooie, Majora's Mask & Donkey Kong 64. The real question is which is the best N64 Zelda game?

How is Kirby 64 underrated?

Mario 64 has a special place in my heart: not only was such a great game but I played it in a bit of a low moment in my life. Some moments like looking up at the shining sun to unexpectedly get the Wing Cap for the first time still resonate with me. The "Wing Cap" tune still gives me a lot of nostalgia.

The Two Zelda were exceptional too. Maybe I lean a bit more toward Majora due its unique mechanic and more creepy, horror-like vibes.

Mischief Makers was really a blast: the design and mechanics were exceptional and I really loved the boss battles, especially the final Beastector battle!

I basically loved all the Rare games: I see DK64 being often hated but, frankly, I really don't see why. It's one of those games that really didn't overstay its welcome for me and entertained me till the end.

But maybe the game I played and liked the most was the first Goemon.
When I rented it I was totally unaware of what to expect and I was absolutely stunned. It has a lot of flaws but it had so much I really loved: from the bizarre humor, to the quirky characters, to a lot of homages to anime and manga. It was surprises after surprises at every step. And it even has a giant robot, Impact! The OST really had some fantastic tunes: the intro with Hironobu Kageyama as a singer but especially the Impact theme, with none other than Ichiro Mizuki as the singer! Amazing!

When I grew up I owned a playstation and I never honestly owned a N64 years and years later.

But if I had to say.
Ocarina of time,
C&C 64 because I find it neat we got a C&C game on the N64 at all
Star Fox 64
Mario 64 still a classic
Bomber man 64 Man I wish they made one again becuse classic bomber man so damn boring I rather take Bomber man 64 recuse it was more a fun neat adventure game.

I enjoyed a lot of the N64 classics, like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and Smash bros, but I'm especially fond of some of the wrestling games, specifically WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF Wrestlemania 2000.

Hmm, no love for Extreme G here huh? That was one impressive launch title for the N64, and boy did I play that a fair amount! I just replayed it again to completion recently, still got them bike skillz.
I recently bought a Summer Cart 64 flash cart for cheap and revisited a lot of games I had previously owned and liked. It’s quite impressive what some of these devs produced on the N64 such as Shadowman, The World is not Enough, Turok 3 etc etc. It’s gotta be the one console I keep, and not replace it with emulation.

First the very basic answer: Super Mario 64. I love that game to bits, easily my most replayed N64 game.

Then is Mario Party 3. Got a lot of laughes out of that one with my friends, we emulated on a every single notebook we bring to school. Mario Party 2 too. There is a gamer bar on Santiago de Chile we used to go a lot just to play Mario Party 2 and 3.

And finally my recent favorite: Doom 64. Man, what a great game is doom 64. Easily one of my favorite shooters of all time, a little behind Doom 1 and Doom 2 personally for me, but is still very awesome. The modern port is also great, but i still enjoy the og 64 version.

It's kind of surprising how little I've dove into the N64's library. I played most of the big first party titles but even then I've yet to touch games like SM64. My current faves are Ocarina of Time (first played in 2019), Super Smash Bros and last but quite-the-opposite of least Sin and Punishment!

I have some very fond and meaningful memories with both games in this series. Was first shown Star Successor on the Wii by a friend back in 2018 and was in awe the entire ride through. Utterly incomprehensible yet emotionally resonant nonetheless while being a ton of fun! Just had to seek out the original and it didn't disappoint one bit, with it being one of those games you're amazed runs as well as it does while looking as good as it does on original hardware. Bullet hell's as a genre rarely captivate me for longer than an afternoon, but Treasure was able to create something truly special here by combining the shmup genre's simplicity with ingenious use of the third dimension and the novelty of more or less playing the game on-foot. Also definitely has the bones of what action games in the 6th console generation would start really fleshing out as far as movement, melee and dodging in 3D are concerned. The story and characters are just as incomprehensible resonant as they'd be in the sequel, with the both standing fairly well as standalone experiences but being a touch more powerful if you have experienced both.

Not sure how it plays on Nintendo Switch's built-in emulator nor do I know how good N64 emulators are at emulating how specific the N64 controller's analog stick is, but I recommend trying it however you can with an original controller if possible.
