What's your favorite anime movie?

I know these aren’t movies, but I don’t watch a lot of anime movies. I prefer series. Apologies, test subject.

Hellsing/Ultimate
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls
Blood-C
Genocyber
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Higurashi: When They Cry *It's a long series
(Mind you, to get the full story, you have to watch them in this order:
When They Cry (2006)
When They Cry: Kai (2007)
When They Cry: Rei (2009) Specifically the "Saikoroshi-hen" arc (Episodes 2–4).
Higurashi: When They Cry – Gou (2020)
Higurashi: When They Cry – Sotsu (2021)
Nekogoroshi-hen (2007 OVA)
Higurashi: Kira (2011 OVAs)
Higurashi: Outbreak (2013 Movie)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shigurui: Death Frenzy
Berserk (1997) *Not that awful POS 2016 Netflix atrocity.
Tokyo Ghoul
Deadman Wonderland
Highschool of the Dead
Ninja Scroll (1990's)
To name a few

Loved Vampire Hunter D the original, and Bloodlust. Still watch them again from time to time. My favorite ever would probably have to be both Midnight Eye Goku movies. It's just the subject matter that captivates me the most. Plus i'm a sucker for anything late 80's early 90's Madhouse.

Throw in another point for Patlabor 2, that movie really was something else.

You had great characterizations, good dialogue, a critique of government handling of a conspiracy (in early 90s Japan!), character driven drama and well paced and staged action with an intelligent plot that developed as the movie went on.

The giant robots were pretty much an aftertought.
