What's the story behind your username?

My name most other places is some variation of "Ad Noctem". Ad Noctem Media, Ad Noctem Gaming, just AdNoctem, etc.

I came up with it when I was first diagnosed with and having a really bad flare of my narcolepsy, hypersomnia, and delayed sleep phase syndrome. It was so bad I lost my job at the time. I could sleep 14-15 hours a day. And during the winter, with short days, I could go a week or more without ever being awake to see the sunlight (sounds crazy but when you're waking up at 5 PM and going to bed shortly before dawn it happens). I was super depressed, feeling helpless and lost. I decided that if I were losing my career and losing so many hours of my life to uncontrollable sleeping, I could at least do something fun with the time I did have and start a gaming channel like I'd thought about doing since I was a teen. Ad Noctem (Into Night, roughly) was a way of taking ownership of the hours I did have for something that brought me joy despite the circumstances.

NoctemDead is just because I was feeling silly and it's one of the little puns we make about my name sometimes. Noctem (Knocked 'Em) Down, Noctem Dead, etc.
Amazing...! 🔥_🔥👍

I am (named after) Zengar, Zengar Zombolt! The Sword that cleaves Evil!

One of the first characters from Super Robot Wars I encountered on my first months on youtube, I got attached to this German weeb test pilot and Ship cleaving sword enthusiast. And with SRW still existing, and Zengar showing up in odd places (Hello Project X Zone) I always have a consistent character to roll back to.

"There is nothing I can not cut!"

For the longest time I went with "Mudstoise" (Mudkip & Blastoise), and on one other forum I changed it up with DarkRiku (Kingdom Hearts). But MegaHiro, which I call myself in most places now, is stolen directly from my favorite German anime magazine.

I am Danish, but I had a friend in middle school whose mom imported various anime mags for him, and with this one I just really liked the name and the font.

91 is straight up just my birth year, because I thought "MegaHiro" alone looked bare, so now I have outted how old I am.

not gonna lie ... i want to change it because i couldn't come up with anything at the moment and the original intention was to lurk around and just check out the repo ... but yeah i mean it's not my main phone but yeah was the phone i'm using to play games on nowadays

Was the same for me initially, just wanting to lurk around, but then I made the "mistake" of checking out the forum and I am a man of opinions who couldn't shut his trap if he got paid for it, so here I am now, being an active member of the community haha.

I used to say "xd" a lot and I added "qwerty" bc I couldnt think of anything else. But I recall having other usernames that included the letters "CJ" because those are my initials

Mine was given to me by a friend, after yet another round of back-and-forth, lighthearted trolling. She kinda just threw it in there and then convinced everyone to call me that, so I just adopted it and rolled with it.

A bit later I realized that I could score mad points with it on Scrabble, and that sorta sealed the deal XD

What about you?
5thsenn because..
1st user, i went with 1stakira
2nd user, i went with 2ndfenn

It was the name of a section of a magazine that I followed twenty years ago, when I was 15 years old. I found it interesting, I started using it as a nickname on a forum I participated in, and I never thought about changing it to another.

I'm a fan of Initial D. I'm also Filipino and I want a Filipino touch in my IGN or username so I translated "tofu" to the tagalog version of it which was "tokwa".

I like both the name and its backstory. That's cool!

Someone told me in front of a bunch friends that I 'looked like that ugly motherfer from the Crash Bandicoot games' meaning Cortex and it just kind of stuck as a Nickname

I wanted to name one of my characters Revan, from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, in FFXI back in the day.

This is what I came up with.
