I used to like them a lot, precisely because they weren't trying to be "cool," if you know what I mean. Especially back when everything became so story-heavy. I'm one of those people who'd rather go to the theater to watch a movie or read a book for a good story. When I'm sitting on my butt with a gamepad in my hands, watching characters talk for, like, half an hour? Or just, you know,
walking? I start feeling like an idiot, like I'm wasting my time and stuff. I didn't even like the third Witcher.
Maybe it's one of those things you're supposed to get used to as a kid, but since I grew up in the '80s with my Atari 2600, I just can't stand all that. And that's why I liked Nintendo. They were pretty old-school. All gameplay, no "water." Just give me Mario and let me jump on some turtles. I'd take that over the "new" God of War or The Last of Us any day.
What's funny is that I don't like them anymore. The Wii U was the last system I liked, and they treated it like trash, which it wasn't. Heck, they even scrapped the whole gamepad-oriented concept from Breath of the Wild just to promote the Switch. And while being a big fan of all previous Zelda games (well, not the CDI ones, but we're not talking about those, like, ever), I ended up... kinda hating what we got in the end. I can actually add both "new" Zelda games to my list. Hated my time there.
It looks like they managed to deliver what the modern audience wanted, but I just... fail to understand why it was supposed to be Zelda. It felt a lot like taking, say, Morrowind and turning it into Minecraft. That's why I stopped enjoying Nintendo's games, I guess. Those aren't old-school anymore. And with them overdoing it with both DLC and Amiibos? While also milking the hardware part? I've found myself having much more fun with indies on Steam. Modern Nintendo just makes me sad most of the time. But I really liked the old one. I mean, some people like soy, right?

That would be me, I guess. I like simple fun with that "just one more minute!" effect. That's the fun with Pokémon, for example. You just... want to catch 'em all. That's the fun
