What would Sony have to do to make you buy a PS6?

low price, and every unit must have a disk drive
and also free online play, along with the ps6 being backwards compatible with the ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, and ps5
but sadly that's only in a perfect world though

Including pre-installed games

I want to purchase a PS5, but if the PS6 is right around the corner I'll hold off.

What I want is this: my current PS4 library available on the PS6. If that's a no go, it's a no buy.

Sony should change their HQ from L.A. back to Japan. Maybe then I’ll get something more than another boring Open world game or another TLOU clone which I hate these days. Last time I had a thought that when PS3 or PS2 gen was out I was a teenager who couldn’t afford for any new games and there was so much variety in every one of them. Now I have money but don’t have time and games on PS5 so I play PS1/2/3 games that somehow missed my radar.

If they're good of course.

Yeah, it's no longer the 2010's, we should let Open World rest for a bit.

You can make an open world game like Rockstar Games and make masterpieces like RDR2, GTA4 where you can interact with many things and can see intricate details in simple things. Good Open worlds like Nintendo in Zelda games. I remember details in Shenmue on dreamcast were fuckin insane. Or you can be like ubisoft SP or guerillla games and make another boring AC GoT/GoY or Horizon where only things you can do are: talk with NPCs which you don’t give a fuck about, climb on tower, kill enemies, ride a horse.

Be cheap and have backwards compatibility.

It’s backwards compatible with all previous PlayStation consoles.
At this point. Ps6 should be powerful enough for this. Even if its only select ps3 games.

Should it need to be able to read every type of disc? Or make every game from their back catalogue and available to play via emulator?

I think that the latter option is probably more reasonable, and would hopefully enable them to create trophy sets for earlier games too.
It should be a blue ray and dvd drive so no reason ps5 cant read ps2 games already for example.

Have games on it. They really seem to struggle with that.
Put waaay to much time into live service slop. Most of which never even released.

How much would a 4K disc drive be costing? How many GOs can be put into such disk?

They'd have to give me the money to buy it ::eggmanlaugh
I'm just not interested in consoles nowadays, I prefer PC for modern gaming.

Exclusives...but fortunately those are coming to Steam as well. If it wasn't that the PS5 was backward compatible with PS4 games I would have sold it. I'm basically keeping it for Demon Souls, Astro Bot and few other things.

I'm not gonna sugar-coat it:
I think the PS5 is a let-down.

Don't get me wrong: It's a graphical powerhouse, and the PS5 has one or two significant advantages over its predecessor, namely the higher performance and improved ventilation. It also comes equipped with arguably the best modern controller on the market, the DualSense.

But for every step forward, there has been an equal or greater concession made.

I've owned every PS home console except the PS3, so it's fair to say I've been a pretty consistent and life-long Sony fan. Yet undoubtedly, the PS5 has been (for me, at least) their most disappointing outing.

For those who feel the same way, or anyone else who hasn't really been interested in Sony's gaming hardware as of late, my question is this: What would the PlayStation 6 need to do in order to win your hard-earned money?

It's undoubtedly going to cost more than the PS5, so we're likely going to be talking somewhere in the range of $700 ~ $800 dollars.

What features would the PS6 need to have to convince you to buy one?

Make new interesting games that aren't action walking-sims/open-world RPGs.
Something like Astro and Rift Apart.
I would love a new IP that is either a shooter or a sandbox.

Output a large amount of great no-bullshit games for the console and don't gouge the consumer with the prices. But, unfortunately, I won't hold my breath on this...

I don't enjoy playing on home consoles nowadays. I still don't have a PS5 all of these years later. I like gaming in two formats nowadays: PC and modern handheld. So... they'd have to make it hybrid like Switch/2, but I don't see them doing that.

I'll be sad when Kingdom Hearts IV comes out and I can't play it until it gets a PC release. But I already did this with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, so I'm used to it.

i mean realistically i'll get it if they put a new final fantasy on it. playstations are final fantasy machines to me tbh. also physical releases, if it's digital only then why bother?
region free blu-ray would also fucking rule. why is this still a thing? i get licensing restrictions and all but i mean is it really anyone's business if i decide to import dvds/blu-rays like a crazy person?
everything else is a nice bonus. would love to see the death of paid mulitplayer but i think the industry's going to claw onto that with everything they've got.
im fortunate to have a great pc that can run pretty much anything but it's really nice having a seperate machine for video games that just works.

God of War 1 remake or a new Twisted Metal (None of them gonna happen)

Disk drive, backwards compatible, and not obscenely expensive

At this point I don't know what would make me even consider wanting a new console, let alone a single reason why I'd ever consider getting a PS6.

My only reason for getting any console has always been for 1 or 2 games, and my library would just expand from there. So it's fair to say that I don't even look for the most powerful or the most popular console, just the one that can give me the most personal satisfaction.

So not getting any new console since the PS4 is quite the statement, at this point not even PC games have hit the same highs they once did for me.
