What would Sony have to do to make you buy a PS6?

good exclusive games, that's everything a console needs, and ps5 definitely under delivered in that key area, they tried to monetize their user base with failed game as a service bs games such as concord in an attempt to eat a piece of the pie of an already saturated market

I'm divorced enough from the ecosystem that the argument of "but your trophies! your friends list" is really a non-starter for me. That also kind of nullifies BC as a selling point since I can emulate all that old stuff pretty well nowadays. Even if you went, "here's a new [some exclusive PS game I can't think of right now]!" I can't think of something that would pull me back in.
~OOC~

I 100% agree with this statement. The last PlayStation games I actively bought were for the PS3, and those were just a couple of titles I wanted to have physical copies of, Off eBay.

Honestly, I have never cared about online achievements, trophies, or other little internet-based awards that are rather meaningless in the end. I was never a team player game wise, aside from some dungeons in ESO where you had to have a team. I have a PS1 through PS4 myself and stopped there. The PS4 hasn't been on in I honestly couldn't tell you when.

As much as I have seen with the PS5, it honestly just doesn't interest me. I think at this point in my life I couldn't care any less about what game system has what APU or how much RAM or storage, etc.
I don't think there's anything outside of it being a full-fledged computer that I could put my own OS on that would honestly interest me in a new game console.

At that point, I’d just build a cheaper, better system.

It would be a really hard sell for me since I've been a PC gamer for the past 12 years.
Here's the list:
  • No charge for multiplayer and most online features: this would mean most games with multiplayer features having access to community servers.
  • Competitive price with whatever Microsoft/Nintendo is doing.
  • If the console has a disk drive, the console should be able to run at least most games from all previous Playstation consoles. I don't care if it uses software emulation, they should work day one.

Correction.
I'll buy a PS5 when it is fully and easily softmoddable, and when all the bug fixes are done for it.
Much like I did with the PS3 and my PS4, which is on firmware 11.50. Well, I'll get around to it whenever.

I've been playing mostly on PC and Sony stuff since I was a kid, with the occasional Nintendo portable console.
I don't think I'll buy a new console ever again.
Sure I still use sometimes my old consoles and my PS5, since I do like physical more than digital, but PC just does everything I need. I find myself emulating even the stuff I own sometimes.
I also find myself not really buying new games than much, but rather looking for older gems anyway.
The PS5 really is a letdown

If it could pay my Bills, and cook-me a meal, i would buy it day one. But right now best i can afford is a 3 years old DELL laptop with an I3 and 4GB of ram... The ps6 has to match my financial needs.

I think they got their priorities straight for the next gen:
bad news for xbox fans sony announced their new console wilol be a dead pigeon.jpg

:loldog

The title had to have a note saying "something realistic", not something we want that is not realistic like being priced absurdly low or playing everything because yes.
  • PS6 would have to be backwards compatible with PS4 & PS5, as they share same architecture.
  • PS6 price would have to be between 500-600€, and be around 2 times more powerful than PS5 Pro.
  • PS6 would have to stop being pretemptious and just be a console for playing videogames.
  • PS6 would have to stick with 2160p, as that resolution is still something most of hardware have a hard time with, and give the option to render at 1080p when a 1080p TV is detected, in order to be able to play everything smoothly.
  • As an extra, it would be a good practice to release a PS6 Lite, being as powerful as a PS5 Pro more or less, and rendering games between 1080p-1440p. Its cost could be between 300-400€. But this point is likely never going to happen, as Sony will never accept people is buying a console for the games and not for the graphics.

Nothing will get me to buy Playstation hardware again. I was a Vita customer at launch and they did nothing right with it.

Since then they cut their Japanese studios, stopped making games I want to play, and more recently it has become blatantly obvious that their studios employ too many deranged lunatics that praise violence and deserve to be unemployed.

If they dropped the payed online, had backwards compatibility via hardware, doubled down on exclusives I'd be happy to get one on launch but that's just a pipe dream. They closed down so many studios I have no idea what CAN they make now lol

Drop the paid online. At the least, make a much cheaper online play only tier since Essential is mind numbingly expensive.

Improve their controller so it uses TMR Hall Effect sticks. Stick drift on PS4 and PS5 is just untenable especially when I watched a video that described what really causes drift. Something that looked like...mud? It looks so outrageous, it can raise your blood pressure.

By the way, we did have our controller recently upgraded just like the video. It seems to work fine but it'll take some time to see how long the stick lasts before I'll fully endorse it.

Personally, if this thing catches on, I can imagine Sony will make sure you can't upgrade a PS6 controller just like the one on the video. I will consider that an unforgivable offense if they try to prevent repairs that doesn't come from Sony itself.

For me, the only way I could consider buying a new playstation is by it not having any AI in any form, including dlss and things like that. Im just tired of that things. I wont accept drm for reading discs either. All of that is already impossible but, if it wasnt, I would be looking for some good exclusives and a good price for the console/games.

At this point there would have to be some pretty remarkable exclusives as well as physical games to get me back. I've had every PS console up to 4. The only game I want to play on 5 is the Demons Souls remake and at this point I'll just wait for a PC release.

Honestly I think I'm done with consoles. I hate to say that, it's depressing and I feel bad for all the kids that missed out on the good old days.

These are all nice wishes, and I agree with most everything, not that touching peepee and tea thing.
But aside from that. They are never going to let you own your games, not for much longer anyway.

They are never going to make it playable offline, as soon as they can fully get away with it.
They are never going to remove AI from the systems, and everything else is not going to happen.
As much as we hope it won't or want it or yell "We will vote with our wallets!" It won't change anything at the end of the day.

The next PlayStation will come along, make millions upon millions of dollars, and that'll just be how it is. Much like the next Xbox and Nintendo console and so on. I hate it as much as anyone else, but it's just how it works.

And, in 15 or so years, no one will blink an eye when you have to give a thumbprint, facial scan, and DNA sample to play your game library.

I forget who said it, but "Don't ask questions, consume product, be excited for the next product."

man i was an obsessed PlayStation kid!
i went PS1 > PS2 > PS3 > PC and never looked back
never wanted a PS4, PS5 or any of those trash games
they definitely wont convince me to buy a PS6 lol

If they are going to sell the PS6 I want it to be cheap and have a DVD player so I can watch all my movies from all countries with me, something that allows me to play games on my cell phone on the Playstation.

They did miss the era but as long as these old games can be played either on their own or via someone else they may be interested in old games and may even play Atari 2600 games and like them like what we did with one of my friends' son. He is a little kid who is rather I'm jealous of his energy, so to anchor him down we bought a fake NES and some games to hook him up. Boys will be boys, it didn't matter he ain't a kid from 90s, he enjoyed playing Contra Force like we did back then. Better than having shitty toys and watching brain dead cartoons of today for sure lol.

I don't often see kids being interested in retro games especially because as their age increase post-puberty they care too much about visuals even when it comes to games as if they looking for a mate to fuck by their primitive monkey neurons being activated, yet even in this craziness of puberty I see some of them being interested about PS2 and it makes me glad because they are aware how current games are shitty and they are so shitty some kid who did born in 2010 says "fuck this L shit yo" and wanna play God Hand. When this shit happens some twat says "Games never meant to be played forever". But on the contrary as long as one copy of a game exist it can be made playable no matter if it is physical or digital. Unless you try hard to destroy a game it will exist "forever" (until the universe is no more) but video game companies and whoever work for them are the one never meant to exist forever. Their shitty existence is just a blink of an eye. For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return!!!!!! Amen!!!! lololol

let me run linux on it, make the online free, have awesome exclusives, have a simple yet unique UI, have the ability to watch media on my home server and oh fuck i just described the ps3 again...
