I always named him after my name.

Not specific for Pokemon, but I tend to name my male MC's all the same name so long as there's no canonical default. The more serious the game, the more likely I'll name the MC... "Dicky."

There is a reason. I do not like to talk about it. ?

For me, it was ASH. In all caps because I didn’t know the difference of caps lock at the time.

I know that’s super basic, so here’s a fun one: when I stumbled across a Pokémon Red cart for $2 at the bottom of a garage sale bin (probably my best ever garage sale find), it was half completed with the name “Dobi”.

Ever since, for titles I’m playing for private use and not to connect with friends, I name myself Dobi in honor of that cart!

I always used my first name and never gave my Pokémon nicknames (because Ash didn't, so nicknames didn't seem "proper").

I think I picked one of the defaults for the rival character in Gen I, which I believe was Blue. And I want to say that for what little I played of Pokémon Silver, I named my rival Silver, which I think (?) was a default as well.

I have always hated that there are certain Pokémon that you can only get by trading in-game and that always come with nicknames.

the first i remember, from pokemon ruby, was Blaze, and i chose the name because it was what my mum almost named me, which woulda been hella rad cos then i wouldnt have even felt the need to change my name after figuring out im trans lol. Blaze is now my go to for namable characters who are supposed to be me
