What was your first PC game?

Commander Keen
Specifically Commander Keen IV - I think my dad got it as shareware.

Notable mention though (it may have been around the same time or before) to Rescue Rover.

My father and my brother claim we played Diablo 1 when I was very little. Haven't got any memories of that so let's say my first PC game was GTA San Andreas which is the one I do remember being first.

My first PC game… (you’re probably going to laugh) was Disney’s Winnie the Pooh: Tigger’s Honey Hunt. To put things into context, the CD-ROM came with the PC (a Packard Bell), because back then, when you bought a computer, it often came with several software and game CDs. That was the case for me, and the first CD I ever inserted happened to be this Disney game.

I like the honesty! Also, lots of people are really fond of the edutainment games they played as children. No shame there dude!

prince of persia
could I beat the first guard?
did I play the first level up until the first guard bazillion times?
was I in awe of my aunt's mad esport skillz seeing her play a later level with MULTIPLE guards?
nobody will ever know...
I scrolled thorugh the messages to find the first occurence of this. I think it was page two.
I share the same, Prince of Persia.
Was fascinated. Went to my mother's workplace where they had some 386's or something. Offcourse my mother had to do some stuff and left me at a computer and someone presented me with the ultimate cheat code to get to a game. I remember it now, written on a notepad:

CD games
CD prince
prince

that's what I had to type to play it. And when that sound came up, with that amazing graphics.... Oh man...

Played the game for 8 hours straight, I don't remember when my mother came back, I remember I finished it right before she took me home.

showing my age but this was the first video game i ever played

I don't remember first PC game I played, but first I owned was Settlers 2.

It was an old game called Total Annihilation. Very fun building and real time strategy game. Was more of a futuristic Civilization game, but so much better IMO.

First PC game was probably one of these:

Frankie was the OG. My little bro and I were absolute beasts on that cafeteria mini game. I learned some reading on it, which was cool. Didn't teach me any math though, 'cause I always got filtered in all of the math games, lmao. Those damn math caps were always out of reach for me.
We played this so much that we still meme about it 25 years later. It came with an activity book you could do over summer break.

When this one came out we thought it was the coolest thing. Doing tricks and getting all the fireworks was a great time. I also loved building my own tracks.

For me- it was, aside from flash games, Minecraft back in the ~1.5.x days around 2014. Played the hell out of custom maps, mods, and multiplayer servers! Never could get enough; never have!

Minecraft, I mostly played servers online.

I didn't haved a PC on my house until like 6 years ago, so I don't have a big backstory...

The game was awesome ! I got it from a magazine with Disc that had alot of games and this gem too .

The soundtrack and gameplay are still peak and the humour just hits in the bulls-eye .
I still miss those magazines that would come with games on a disc.

I remember getting one of those "200 PC Games!!!" Bundles and it being filled with a mixed bag of abandonware legends.

I miss those magazines and its game CDs too . Not only tripple AAA PC games were in those CDs but alot of those small games were in those too that were really great and were from underdog developers that made those in their freetime . Often RPG-maker masterpieces were there too and upcoming projects that sadly never were finished because the devs lost their interest for their small projects .

Had a box with a "Collection of windows XP games" (was even marketed and sold like that) and alot of it were those small indie-games before indie-gaming became so huge .

I remember that online-legend of zelda in the looks of the Snes Zelda which you can interact with other players and explore the island for what it had . I think its called Grail-online . But its been ages since i saw it .
