As far as TV goes one of my fond memories was when my dad and I were flipping through channels and we accidentally came across some Spanish or Italian gaming programme (Hotbird and Astra satellite programming for the win). It was around 1999-2000 and they were running a segment on Age of Empires II. We intuited that they were going to give out cheat codes and we furiously scrambled for a piece of paper and something to write with. We got all the resource cheats and a few others. It was a glorious time.

Mine was the Atari Lynx amazing for its time (still have it now).
The Lynx exists in an interesting interstitial generational space, like the NGPC and WSC, one foot in one generstion, one in the next.

The coral pink translucent GBA I got for my 6th birthday together with Link's Awakening DX.
We were pretty poor when I grew up so I've been told that the first thing I said when I opened the gift was "How did you afford this?!"
I didn't mind that the Zelda game was a GBC game, I played the crap out of it and it's still my favorite Zelda. That christmas my aunt gave me Wario Land 4 which was my first actual GBA game and I love that game to death too.

The system hasn't been played in ages since the d-pad stopped working, but it still has a cherised spot on my shelf.

My uncle gifted me his GameBoy Light silver when he picked up the Gameboy color in America. I could stay up at night and level up, but I dont recall having many batteries at our disposal

Hello everyone!
I’d like to share the story of my first portable gaming console, which was bought in 1997 at a store in Kyiv. At the time, it wasn’t that expensive, and somehow I managed to convince my parents to get it, even though I already had a PlayStation 1 at home.

It was the R-Zone by Tiger Electronics – a console that rightfully earned the title of the worst portable console, according to Angry Video Game Nerd. I still can’t understand how I ended up choosing it.

Yes, this console is still in my collection, but… I can’t even begin to explain how bad it is. The screen is a disaster, the game quality is awful, and the actual gameplay experience leaves a lot to be desired. I played it for maybe 2 months, and then it was just abandoned.

Nearly 9 years later, the PSP came along – a true, full-fledged portable console. Life with it was simply amazing! The screen, graphics, games – everything was top-notch??

If anyone else had this gadget, share your thoughts on this engineering “masterpiece”!

A black Game Boy Advance SP with A Link To The Past, Crash Purple and Jimmy Neutron, and as a curious fact, that was the first Crash Bandicoot game I played in my life and I really liked it a lot, I never thought it was a very criticized game until years later, the other games came later. My first experience with Game Boy Color games was when a friend of my brother's lent me Donkey Kong Country.
The list of games would be very long, I would never finish... What good memories...

Used GBA SP around 2009 or something. I remember my mom called it a "toy for kids" and I felt offended lol. I was in a situation at the time that required me to sit on a bus for about 6 hrs total in a week at the time and it was basically a pokemon machine for that time. Never had many other games for it.

Mine was a hand-me-down grey DMG from my older brother - it had Super Mario Land, Tetris, and the first Mega Man game -- I remember my Mom used to "ground me" from just my Game Boy so she could play Tetris uninterrupted lmfao

Game gear, was a big sega fanboy back in the day, now i have alot of issues with the company wearing it's skinsuit.

AtGames Sega Mega Drive handheld console

A red Gameboy Pocket with a copy of the first Game and Watch collection for my 7th birthday. An original Nintendo DS was the first one I bought myself.

A Dingoo A320. Back in 2010 it seemed to be sensational, it was a craze on some forums and blogs that I followed, everyone bought one. I finished some GBA and Arcade games on it. But it was a very limited device, which even had problems with SNES games. And mine bricked after a few months of use. I was still lucky enough to sell it in the condition it was in to someone who was looking for replacement parts.

Months later I bought a DS Lite and it was a huge upgrade, I had so much fun with it.

Is Gamewatch from Nintendo back in 1981 recognised as handheld console?
