What retro game are you currently playing?

Mobile Suit Gundam - Federation vs. Zeon_SLUS-20382_20260420200424.png

finally got to finishing gundam: federation vs zeon.
i can't say im too much of a newtype but i did achieve the rank of a rear admiral.
this game was really tricky to play. the enemy ai is really good at dodging when it wants to, so you really need to time your shots. like right as/before they land, run out of boost, or shoot. this is easiest to do with beam weapons. machine guns require you to really lay each shot down and rockets are especially inaccurate, despite being homing rockets. they can also get shot down. better to use those on navel ships.

otherwise its a pretty fun game. campaigns are 100+ missions on both sides. mobile suits retain damage between missions, so you have to keep rotating between them. i recommend it if you like gundam or arcady action games.

I picked up the Mega Man Zero/ZX collection recently, and I've gone on a complete Mega Man kick. I really like the Zero games, especially with the collection's enhanced save feature which really removes a lot of the painful points.

I haven't finished ZX yet, but I would so far say
Zero 3 > Zero 4 > ZX > Zero 2 > Zero 1

Wild Arms 3 right now. I have it on my modded PS2 with the McBoot SATA method. It looks as beautiful now as it now in the early 2000's.

I've never beaten it!

Just Nabbed Dust An Elysian Tail, nice animation for a game literally made by a single dude

I'm currently trying to beat this one on my PC using ePSXe.
i have no idea what counts as getting hit in this game. some enemies will do nothing to you while blasting from their side of the screen, while some do. pretty cool game though. i like virtual cop more
just because its clearer when you're going to get shot.

Please do us a favour: get DuckStation instead of using this emulator, you will see the difference.
I like ePSXe better. Maybe it's old, but i like how much i can adjust games by different shaders and plugins. Finally, my PC is like toaster and ePSXe has lover requirements.

I mean "lower" requirements. I think all people make mistakes like this from time to time. :loldog

Farland Story IV for the PC-98. The first three games all had the same MC with returning characters, but this one is completely new in terms of setting, characters, and story. For the most part, they play like Fire Emblem games, but with less stragety and more annoyances. Art is nice and the game does have funny battle animations so if you're looking for something with some charm this series might be it.

I'm currently replaying Chrono trigger for SNES and the nostalgia alone is overwhelming. It's like falling in love All over again 😍

Lately I've been rotating Suikoden 2 and Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance.

Suikoden 2 is a game that I've started before but never finished. The last time I played I ended up missing Clive and lost my motivation to play. This time I'm pretty sure I've gotten all the missable characters so far. I've been enjoying the game, but I never knew how buggy it was until now. I've had multiple times where I've had to reset the game either because it crashed or I ended up stuck in a room and being unable to load into another zone. I've also managed to glitch out the sound after getting bugged item drops. Recruiting Annabelle just makes you sit there with no sound playing for multiple minutes because her song is bugged. This is on an original disc on an actual PS1. The localization also seems like it was extremely rushed for the US release with obvious grammatical errors repeated and Jowy's name being spelled different ways. It truly is a product of its time, and it's surprising that the game is still good in spite of the multiple issues present in the official release. I might end up buying the remastered version at some point if they fixed these issues.

I've also been enjoying my time with Harmony of Dissonance, but it's been a bit annoying in the back half of the game. I think most of my problems with it stem from traversal. There are no warp rooms to cycle through, so backtracking is a huge pain in the ass. Whenever I have to go back somewhere I just end up mashing the shoulder buttons to move around. Switching between A and B sides is annoying because there's no convenent way to get to the gates. I've been keeping my sessions relatively short, but sometimes it just devolves into getting from point A to point B and stopping. It's very oddly balanced for a portable game.

Crash Bandicoot and Wipeout where the last two I was touching.

Already got a hankering to move onto Crash 2 or something lmao.
Also tempted to do a run through of Rayman, Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 for the nostalgia, and cus its on-brand
