What retro game are you currently playing?

Me on the other hand didn't do anything on IV since I posted this
i kinda force myself to play by scheduling what i want to do in day. end of the year i'll have stripped 50+ games of the backlog, upwards of 100 movies and 10 books depending what i focus on.

Devil May Cry 3 by 7498468664898938726347128914 time and tales of phantasia cross edition. Both excellent games.
Going through Cross Edition myself too, actually. I played through the PS1 port of Tales of Phantasia last year, so this is technically a replay; it's honestly become one of my favorite RPGs.

I've been mostly playing the Spanish version of Weird War (2003), a beautiful cursed game. Plus started the classic point & click Nightlong recently.

I also have two PS2 action platformers on hold, Kya and Asterix XXL, but its kinda hard to come back to then after not having played for a few months. RPGs are much longer, but somehow I feel its easier to play then slowly.

Monster World 4 on Sega Genesis.
Monster World 4 is great! Played a bunch of it and love the Arabian theming. That being said, I still largely prefer Wonderboy In Monsterworld and I really don't know why. I think it's just simple, accessible, and charming (which 4 shares a lot of the same qualities of, now that I think about it). You're just going around at your own pace, stabbing things, collecting gold, and upgrading your weapons set

Crisis Beat. It's PS1's equivalent of Die Hard Arcade and Dynamite Cop. Not as good as either, but still fun. The game is still one of the better 3D brawlers on the system, and better than a good amount of them. Both Fighting Force games and Gekido. The only thing I really dislike about the game is the lack of music or ambient sounds/noise whenever you're on the outside parts of the cruise ship. The pacing goes to crawl, and makes the decen combat much more dull.

Mr._Nutz_SMD_cover.png

Aside the name, is one of the best games from the "mascots with attitude" era from the 90's

Tomato Adventure (English v.1.1.1).2026-03-07 05.15.31.png

Tomato adventure :)
it's a weird japan only GBA game (with a fan english translation) that i didn't know existed, from the same devs of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and it shows in every aspect of the game!

I got TLoZ OoT on my phone currently and i also decided to play remaster of Scrapland from Americam McGee. I vaguely remember my sister playing it for a bit. The game is... Peculiar. I wouldn't say its Goty 10/10, but its got style

Playing a romhack of fire emblem that turns it into pokemon. And starting on Dark Cloud 2 on the PS2. I hear it's a really long game.

Ridge Racer on the PSP. Super fun game and it's really impressive that it runs at a stable 60 FPS. However I feel like the AI rubberbands sometimes and it makes me remember the crazy NFS Underground enemy AI
Oh man, Ridge Racer 4 has been honestly a mood on the PS1 for me, finished Grand Prix in January, and since then i just play time trials and start grand prix with a different team, it has been good.

I started at least Final Fantasy 8 on my PS3 and also booted up to test Final Fantasy 9 on my Computer if it even works and it did.

hm....Skyrim likely does not count as a retro game ::sailor-embarrassed

I sometimes may put in Dead or Alive 2 on my Ps2 or Tekken 4 for the hell of it.

I am currently playing Disgaea 1 the em remake (Only for the convenience sake for the qol improvements like actually leveling trough heals which is absent in the Original making healers suck at leveling)

the Complete Edition Etna Mode at the moment and severely under leveled at that, most of my high leveled characters where the main cast besides Etna Ironically and they well got removed in Etna mode with now high level enemies talking about 100 and above level wise and highest one is 99
with most of my cast being around 60 and lower and Etna herself 70 something and not that strong rather weak.

I am screwed am I ?....painfully grindng it is and no I don't have cave or ordeal as the dark assembly turns it down every darn time.
My man here literally TANKING the Disgaea experience, also your dark assembly sounds like the actual senate of the US, just turns every plea down every time::warcraft-skeleton

Kotobuki Grand Prix: Mezase! Genchari King (1999) on PlayStation

I just finished Sunset Riders (arcade two player rom) and Wild Guns (SNES). Still some of the best wild west video games ever made. These two, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, and Evil West are all better than Red Dead Redemption franchise.

Not playing any retro games, my addiction to Kingdom Come Deliverance wont allow it.

Crisis Beat (PS1). It's an actually decent brawler that's better than Fighting Force. There are actual hidden moves and pause combos. The final boss is nothing special, though. Why didn't Bandai bring this over to the states? Europe/UK got a release and it could have made a few sales. My big brother and I definitely would have played this back in the day and would have at least been worth a budget purchase or rental.

Played some of Roller Coaster Tycoon today (though the always lovely OpenRCT2 source port) and beat Bumbly Bizarre

Had heard about the series in my youth, but unfortunately never got a chance to play it until I got into my adulthood. Would have adored it as a kid

One thing that's always given me trouble however is the elevated coasters where you have to build up the walkways. Always stumped me, but I think I have the hang of it now
