What kind of hobby you have that no one around you cares for?

Black and white movies, like German Nosferatu, The thief of Baghdad, Modern times and most from Chaplin, etc.
I try to reverse the always connected, gotta go fast mentality of modern societies by taking my time and doing more traditional jobs, like carpentry(ones that i can do with my own hands).
thoughts on the new one? everyone raved about it. I've not seen either. Heard the original is a masterpiece. Don't know where to get the best version of it anymore, though.

Chess! I suck at it so bad, but playing it is my way of remembering my dad, who taught me to play. Can't fuckin sit still for two seconds so I got into minipainting during the pandemic as a side gig, but as I am also a massive toddler I ended up keeping most of my works (28mm, 3D resin stuff, nothing wowza.) I collect VERTIGO comics and graphic novels in general. Last thing I got were Grant Morrison's The Invisibles (9999999999/10.) and the six TPB volumes of Preacher by Garth Ennis. I train muay thai since 2019 and must be the one thing I do every day and try to keep sharp so I don't become a bad or lazy instructor in the future. I used to write too, but I suck at it as well ::irockand legally grow my own weed since 2017... which is for certain the only thing my relatives and friends don't think it's lame weeb shit or a waste of time :ROFLMAO:

I think the Kino Lorber bluray is still the best option, they managed to get the most of the original color tinting and a recreation of the original score from 1922.

This one.

For someone that originally saw this movie in some low quality VHS bootleg, this look like night and day and the orchestral brings joys to my ears.

I Really wanted to Watch the new Nosferatu in theaters. but Sadly RL had other ideas. I'm waiting till it gets Played again <There is a Theater here that plays movies Month's after they leave the Theaters on their Initial Release.> I'll Catch it then. Think it need's to be seen on the Big Screen

Figured there was no point, till I'd seen the original.

"a hobby no one around you cares for"

Anime, Gaming, Movies, Warhammer "even if im to poor to own an army", and well ME
Those first two are pretty common. I find that hard to believe. Where do you live? fucking Nevada?

I like fishkeeping, I don't own any fish or aquariums myself at the moment but I love learning about them, they're fascinating little creatures and making your own tiny ecosystem inside your home sounds incredible.
I used to own fishes with my family as a kid, I want to do it again in the future, but now with all my extra book knowledge.
Red Cory Catfish (Corydoras aeneus), Tank-Bred - Aquatic Arts

Look at it's widdle whiskerssss

Im gonna go against the flow and say that im way too awesome for anyone around me they always care about my hobbies , from friends to family just like ryder said "im the real deal fool" ::agree

I thought it's a simple hobby at first, until I saw my friend's dad who's been in fishkeeping game for years, he told me he spend thousands of USD just for the upkeep alone every year.

There's a lot of science and planning beforehand, not to mention all the stuff you need to buy to have something both "pretty" and capable to sustain healthy life of everything inside the tank (that you want to keep alive). Not only the fish (or other animals) themselves, the filter, the lights, the substrate, thermometer in some cases, medicine in case of an emergency, water test kits, food, and if you have plants that's a whole other monster.
It's rewarding seeing everything come together and eventually stabilize on it's own.

I like to read Philosophy. I'm currently reading Bertrand Russell.
I am also learning to code in C.
Every other hobby of mine is shared. :)

As a kid, you really think weed is cool until you actually try it and realise people don't care and don't see you as a badass.

That said, doing it with friends is a fun pastime when you’re at their house.

Also, Skateboarding, super fun.

...huh... I can't think of anything.

I'm going to ponder for a bit, because there has to be something.

I will say very few people I know in person have any interest in D&D, but I live with two people who are regular players so it doesn't really count.

...listening to pop music? I can't think of anyone I know who does other than me.

Pro Wrestling.

Seriously. Totally no one around me comments on this in any way. I don't even hear the typical texts like ‘Hahaha, you mean you watch these fake fights?'
(Perhaps because a large part of those people watch freak fights shows that are quite popular in Poland. Which results are certainly partly rigged, because situations like this, where a youtuber or rapper with no martial arts experience wins a fight against a former professional MMA fighter, are not very likely. )
Yeah, it's hard to find many wrestling fans. Even I myself have fallen off of watching it the past few months, but I've been a big fan since I was a teenager. I've gone to training for a bit a couple times, hoping to get back to it soon once I get back into shape a bit more. I hate how the mystery of wrestling is dead, wrestlers freely and openly discuss how things are done and intrigue about backstage drama gets people more interested than what's in the ring. If I were ever able to make a career of it, I wouldn't give away my secrets. Sure, kayfabe is dead, but why not at least pretend? There's a magic to wrestling when it's done well where you can suspend your disbelief and buy into what's happening in a way that you can't with anything else. The interactivity of it is unparalleled, but I don't blame people for not being invested when the big companies beat them over the head constantly with how it's scripted.

Hmm, no one I know streams on Twitch anymore or seems interested in it in general. I've been a part of a couple different household streams that fell apart for various reasons. Even people I know who used to stream regularly years ago don't do it at all now. I'd like to do it again myself, and I bought some equipment a while ago to, I just haven't set it up yet. I have a gimmick in mind, which I think is important since I'm not a pro gamer or speedrunner and don't want to just play what's popular or the same game over and over. I don't watch streams often these days compared to when I worked from home, but I still miss my friend's streams and even the microscopic community and the various memes my household stream once had.

I'm still interested in you doing this for me.

You could also make money with this hobby.
Really? I dunno and I can do it for you whenever you have an idea of what you want.

Some wrestlers actually pretend that kayfabe is not dead, at least a little. Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, for example, they stay in character in most of their interviews (although I don't know how much of that is gimmick and how much is truth when the topic currently comes down to CM Punk)
Similarly, Dominic Mysterio stays in character all the time, even when the questions are about his father.

That's true, I'm sure it's a little bit of both with those guys when it comes to Punk. He seems to elicit strong negative and positive emotions with most people who interact with him. I was a big fan, but him going back to WWE after his promos shitting on them in AEW and claiming that he wouldn't feel better by being in the place that made him sick in the first place makes all of his stuff ring hollow. I get that's business at the end of the day, it just feels disappointing I suppose. I hear he's been doing good work since returning. I'm far behind on AEW but I remember MJF following kayfabe to the letter, and perhaps coincidentally he was extremely over. Of course, he's insanely talented, but I do think there is something to developing a character and being consistent with it to allow people to buy into what you're doing that more wrestlers and companies would benefit from exploring. Not that that's knew, people in the 80s would get arrested to protect their characters if they had to, and it did happen at times.

To stay a little more on topic, I think I'm far more into finding deals on things than anyone else I know, to a slightly obsessive degree. Actually, in a minute I'm going to go to a big grocery store a town away, mostly to get some yummy Japanese snacks but also because there's a Target nearby. I saw online on a deal site I frequent that they are filtering out some physical video games on clearance so I figured I'd check it out on my weekend. I have way too many games to play, but something about the concept of saving a lot of money on something and buying a 70 dollar game for 10 or 20 bucks appeals to me. I almost never buy something new or on full price unless it's something I really really want or if it's something to play with friends while it's new and relevant. I'm not going to buy anything I won't play eventually, and I figure I can always resell it if I don't want it, or let a friend borrow or have it if they want to play it. At least, that's my justification for it I suppose. With food sales or clearance deals, well, I'm just a glutton I suppose. I'm generally pretty frugal otherwise, and have been for most of my life, I suppose now that I'm making a wee bit more money I'm loosening that a bit. If I stay in the Portland area, there's no fucking way I'll ever be able to afford to buy a house in this market, so I suppose renting and having video games and Magic cards that I enjoy and can share with friends is the next best thing.

I like to draw and make collages (in tradicional cut-and paste or digital form), besides that i love to read books and comics, watch vintage films and search for things like art-deco architecture, classical music like Schubert or photographers like Edward Steichen, Brassai, De Meyer, Bresson, etc.

I used to have a hobby of collecting these that no one cared for ?
But apparently they matter again ::cirnoshrug
