Malifaux.
In general, tabletop wargaming is fairly popular around my neck of the woods - but like most places I've known it's 40k or nothing. And between finding 40k (and most Games Workshop products) an absolute bore to play and spectate, and it generally attracting the sort of crowd that I don't want to associate with, I have found myself in the throes of playing most of the major alternatives that see some play.
And the best of the lot? Malifaux. (sorry Infinity-heads, your models suck)
Malifaux is great. The weird western theming is probably what initially sold me, but the relatively low cost barrier of entry (you can start playing for around $50 - rulebook and materials are free, it's just minis - a single core box is enough for skirmish scale battles), lovingly sculpted models, and highly active gameplay simply stole my heart. One problem: nobody plays it.
Which is too bad! We've got creole goblins, awkward automatons, undead cowboys, and more!
