Of course, gaming doesn't count, we are all gamers here. In my case, it is Riichi Mahjong, the Japanese variant of the classic Chinese board game. I'm not going to go on a long tirade here about Riichi, but it is the mostly widely represented variant in video games.

I first came into contact with it through a Anime/Manga called Akagi, it's quite interesting and actually teaches the game fundamentals unlike a lot of Riichi anime that involve fantastical powers and unrealistic levels of luck. If anyone is interested, I could PM with more details on the game.

It’s way different here. Anime and a lot of nerd subcultures are quite big here.
I’d say pro wrestling isn’t as relevant anymore which is a shame. That would be my answer for @RageBurner’s question

@Yousef Yeah, most people around me, Like TV shows i don't care for, Westerns... that Awful Country music and Mostly stuff that Bores me to Tears.
It's Fine if you like that Stuff, i just don't

Well in general I would say that most people around me don't really care much for any of my hobbies, would be strange if they did.

I love Akagi even if I prefer Kurosawa and Kaiji. I just want more FKMT adaptations!

Funny you mention this. I adore country music.

I understand your plight, mighty Zerpina.

Believe it or not, I kinda like Ten over Kurosawa.

I didn't mention it in the original post (wanted to amend it), but there are many Mahjong variants across Asia and other territories. Hong Kong, Macau, even the United States has its very own variant. Variants introduce rule differences as well as the usage of tiles the Japanese variant (Riichi) does not use.

Yup. I’m all aware. Riichi is the one I’m most familiar with.

Don't think that Anime is my only Hobby. i do a lot of other things, but most of what i do. Modding things, Tinkering with Electronics, Ect ect. is seen as Nerdy but not Odd. the Anime is Seen as odd
Think it more boil's down to, because it's Animation it's seen as Child stuff, Bugs bunny Disney ect.

I Could take any of 100 Anime movies. like say "A Silent Voice" and if they would give it a Chance, would bring them to Tears. Great movie btw
So i Generally don't talk about Anime IRL, aside a few people who actually like it enough to watch it from time to time <DBZ/Bebop ect>

Nerdy = brainy = sexy in my book.

But yeah, this preconception that anime equals children's cartoons is very widespread and very very mistaken. Those that profess this never take the time to really analyze the material.

I have a fascination with the Titanic, collecting everything I can on the matter... even this official key for a First Class cabin gotten when the World Expo landed in Buenos Aires.

Getting to watch actual artifacts from the sinking was a defining moment of my life.

Mahjong looks fun, it's a hobby that I've been meaning to get into. Now in my case I think for most of my hobbies I have at least one friend who is also into them, except fishing. I've taken some friends fishing and they all enjoyed it, but I'm the only MILF guy I know.
