When Super Mario Land DX finally let the original sprites for Mario and other things in the game I got happy.
Well, I'm kind of a semi-purist in a way, changing things that needs improvement is a yes but I want to keep the original aesthetic that doesn't looks like a fangame.
I'll be honest and this Mario head does not look like "Made By Nintendo" in my book
On the other hand having Luigi playable and Hard Mode right on the go from the title screen made that romhack a replacement to the original.
I kinda regret that the original didn't let you play the hard mode with a special code like Kirby's Dreamland 1.
We can appreciate something the way we want too.

Yeah, if someone wants the "authentic" experience they're free to do so.
