If it's cars only though then this one

This racing game is curious.

And also those Arcade Racing games were impressive for the time.
Even today you rarely see, something like the multiple routes in Out run. The only ones I can think for is Multi racing Championship(n64) and Kat's Run snes and the Out Run sequels.

I don't even remember what it was. It was some NES game that I borrowed from a friend briefly.

However, F-1 Race by Famicom is an Official Game, But Very Common to Find in Many Multi-Game Multicarts in 1.

When I got a PS1 for my eleventh birthday I had this and Cool Boarders 3. Both are technically "racing" games, but this one was the standout.

Need for Speed III is a good Need for Speed game but it is not for everyone because it is a difficult game because I never passed the first level of championship mode or with the 3 cars available in the game I could not pass it either, I was always in 6th, 7th or last place and I feel that I can't handle the game and there was no choice but to abandon the game. But I prefer the fourth installment (Need for Speed: High Stakes/Road Challenge) because is fairer and more fun although you needed to replay the tournament cups to get more money to be able to buy more cars to participate in the next cup tournaments yes, but at least you had good memories with those Racing games at that time.

I definitely couldn't finish it either. I could scrape through the tier with the Porsche 911 (I think there was a Ferrari Maranello in that level as well), but those upper stages with the McLaren and Lamborghini were too rich for my blood.
Mainly I enjoyed the environments you race through, Kindiak Park comes to mind.

I understand you friend and at least you were able to go so far in the game.

First console racing game is OG Gran Turismo. This game really made me fall in love with sports cars.

Can't leave this one out. The first arcade racing game I've ever played is Midway's Crusin' World. A staple in my childhood ventures to Chuck E. Cheese & in general, my all time favorite arcade racer.

I've played both Racing games and they're good 👍🏻👍🏻.

For me, it would've been either the original Forza Motorsport, or Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge, both on the original Xbox. However, I think my first car game would have been Hot Wheels Bash Arena.

It's okay friend that you started with those racing games back then. Although I did get to play Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Challenge but in the PS2 version and it's fun.

I don't remember the first racing game I ever played (I was too young), but the games that made me fall in love with the genre are these two:
