It's Fine for Your First Fighting Video Game but I prefer the Arcade or Saturn version more than the PS1 version.
yes but I didn't have a Saturn as a teenager and there were no arcades around. I had no way of getting a Saturn. I had no means of getting the game or the 4mb cart for it. I did have a PS-One. I got the game for 20 bucks. IT WAS ALL I HAD. BUT I GOT GOOD.

I understand you friend and for some reason the port of X-Men vs. Street Fighter of the Sega Saturn was exclusive to Japan obviously.

Either the 84 Konami Yie ar Kung Fu or Data East Karate Champ 82, played both around the same time on the arcades in the late eighties.
I think I can relate, so my first fighting is not street fighter, I forgot which one, but I think i'm sure it's Yie Ar Kungfu first. I recall my tv is not good, which the 5th enemy ( i guess the name is mu) looks like naked flying fighter : ))

I think my first was Smash Melee, but I know there's still some debate over whether or not Smash games are "true" fighting games, so if we wanna take that into account then it was this:

3rd Strike was the first Street Fighter game I ever played.

Yeah those games played more similar to side scrolling Beat em ups(Like Kung-Fu master) than what we normally associate with modern(post Street fighter) games.
Don't remember seeing the first Street Fighter in the arcades, but World warrior an onwards were all over the place though.
