What is y'all favourite "bad" game

Yeh. That's all I got.
A very fun PSP TPS!

Deadly Premonition is genuinely one of my favourite games of all time. I don't think it should quite count as a "bad" game, but there are too many broken ports of it to be able to justify that hehe

Shadow the Hedgehog, it gained traction after the 3º Sonic Movie, this game is a mess, it is a 3D platformer with multiples endings where your kill count determines what final you get alongside the type of enemy you decided to face, but with all the chaos happening, explosion there, short cutscene here, time counting down, it is pretty easy to lose track or make a mistake and ruin the chance of getting the ending you wanted, the controls are good, but sometime seems like the floor is wet, but still, my first AAA Game from my first Videogame Console, I am very grateful for this game

I loved the Sonic 3 movie, and I do want to play this so bad now! I have a physical PS2 copy, so I might have to find a suitable older TV so I can set up my old PS2. I've been quietly hoping for a remaster to get announced. A bit surprised they haven't announced one yet considering how much SEGA were pushing Shadow last year.

Depends if you mean bad in case of broken or bad in the case of cringe? FMV games are my poisons and The Shapeshifting Detective with it's over the top recreations center theater charm I have to keep playing. One day I'll buy more of these FMV stuff.

For me, it has to be The Legend of Spyro Trilogy and Shadow The Hedgehog.

Also Sonic 06 as a guilty pleasure.
Came to this thread just to toss Shadow into the ring, also to be fair, I do think that game has been given a bit of a positive re-evaluation by most people thanks to Shadow Gens and the third Sonic movie, which makes me happy. (also, i love that m-flo video)

3 of the first 4 phantasy star games were incredible. But the third phantasy star game misses the mark due to sega shifting the original team to work on a sonic game instead (they rebounded by making ps4 which is like one of the greatest jrpgs ever) so 3 never had the proper team to make it
with that said, i love the ambitious idea of ps3 and its characters too much to dislike it. the generation of doom plot is really cool and even the devs that work on the later ps games like it too cause they always reference its music or setting in one way or another

People love to hate this game for good reason because it has a genuinely one of the worst story of any video game ever released, however it has a really good gameplay , amezing graphics and one of the best videogame OST, which makes a very good game with a very big flaw.

I barely like Zelda games and I like Adventure of Link, take from that what you will.

Goddamn Too Human; it's so (good) bad.

I don't know nowadays but for awhile you could get this game for free in Xbox store backwards compativle, and for a game that you can get for free it's not terrible, I really like the right analogue to attack idea, even if it isn't polished

Personally a bad game that I like is a PS3 game called Last Rebelion.

NISA even apolozided for publishing it, and while I don't think this is a good game , it's a short game and I had fun while playing it

Another game that I would like to mention is Left Alive a game.

Many people dislike Death By Degrees but I ended up enjoying it despite the flaws it has
I wish I could play but I have performance issues when I try to play it on a emulator.

I have mixed feelings about the game as I got it from a school friend and kind of forced myself to like it with nothing else to play. It feels ambitious but doesn't exactly follow through on a lot of it's design choices because it feels like they gave up halfway through? Do love the soundtrack though

Also, I feel like B.O.B. is one. Neat design, but the worlds are generic and B.O.B. feels insanely clunky in a game that feels like it was trying to be Turrican

I agree totally with your view, the whole alignment system seems out of place and is impractical, also the whole 50 ends looks unnecessary.

They also might have been extremely limited in what they could do considering that all the early 3D Sonic games basically used the same engine (and if I'm talking out of my ass here, please call me out on it)

A friend of mine really likes Left Alive, but I think it's more in an ironic kind of way

It's actually one of my favorite RPGs, but most people hate it.
Looks like I have a new RPG recommendation!

video game shadow GIF

The ultimate guilty pleasure game for me.

I've heard of it more as a "cult classic" kind of deal. Don't know for myself, though.
It did come with high expectations. It was apparently the first game of its generation to be revealed.

There are no bad games, only bad players.

*This is actually my all-time favorite Zelda game honestly*
That is NOT a bad game.

Hearing a game is shit with that man's artwork on the cover is genuinely soul crushing.

The director of the Sonic movies actually started out doing animation for this game.

Is this really a 'bad' game?
I loved Dark Sector back in the day. It was a 7/10 game like Singularity, Dark Void, TImeshift, etc. I even have a Dark Sector pre-order hat somewhere in storage.

That said, I always wanted the tech demo version that plays like a stealth game. While it may look like Warframe, and yes you can sneak in Warframe, this was not live service slop. This was the first 7th generation tech demo that I can remember. As you can see, though, a lot of the ideas and assets were used in Warframe, from the suit, to enemies, to the ship, to just about everything.

Probably my favorite bad game is...

Pacman2_snes.webp

As a kid, it fascinated me since as a rental game, it was pretty good back in the day. Wasn't as gripping as your Final Fantasies or your Mega Man Xs, but the world in the game was fun to explore and poke.

The box art there looks worse than it is, the actual box had holographic 'turn it to see things happen' stuff of Pac running to the edge. Which might've been a part of the whole 'interactive cartoon' thing they advertise there too.

As an adult, it still fascinates me. It's a game of a genre you typically only saw on PC once or twice, but deeper. Everything you do in the game is fucking around and finding out, learning through trial and error until you get the answer and move forward. Or move somewhere else, there's a lot of environments and a lot of things to interact with and a lot of unique weird spritework that sometimes only shows up once? The game despite being kind of a shit game at the end of the day reeks of effort and care, misguided though it sometimes was.

It was an experience. Not necessarily a deep one or anything, but it kind of makes me sad in a 'what does the alternate timeline look like' kind of way where more of these might've been made. Maybe there would've been a good one or two?

Incidentally, there's an arcade in the town that you can go to and just play regular Pac-Man, and if you find a few things, you can also find Mrs. Pac-Man carts and go play that as well. Both of those are the first ports Pac-Man had on the SNES, until a couple years later I found out after a bit of research. There even exist romhack patches to just remove the entire rest of the game and just get those instances of Pac-Man and Mrs. Pacman.

As a side note, the Genesis version of Pac-Man 2 had Pac-Man Jr. instead of Mrs. The same romhacks exist to surgically remove them.

It's a very weird little bit of gaming history. Part of me loves it despite the goofy fuckup it is sometimes.

And before I forget, several things I've said here may have been paraphrased from other retrospectives and reviews I've seen on the topic. I wanna talk about it, but I also don't wanna just... repackage the things people more talented than me have said on my first post.
