What is the worst SEGA game?

Alex Kidd: High Tech World

The game needs a freaking guide to beat and the time limit is stupid but the ninja level is fun. If there was a hack that removed the time limit or gave you way more time to beat the game it would be actually fun. It would have actually been like a Master System point and click game. But yeah as it is the game is terrible but still not the worst Sega game ever made.

The Master System had way way way worse games. For example the Master System version of Alex Kidd The Lost Stars lacks Stella and multiplayer, not even turn based! And remember Super Mario Bros 1 had multiplayer, it suffers from garishly overcolored graphics, and a soundtrack that's flat-out butchered on the Master System's sound chip. Sure if by miracle you have the FM sound chip the sound is okay but lets be honest almost no one had that back then, and that still doesn't fix the lack of Stella and how horrible the game looks.

The Master System had some really horrible ports, but I usually do not count ports as a worst game because it means there is at least a version of that game that's good or slightly better... sometimes.

Now what is the absolute worst game for the Sega Master System that wasn't a port or a reskin?

20 em 1, the worst Master System game ever made. 20 horrible games for the price of a good Master System game? No thanks. Thankfully this piece of guano was only released in Brazil.

And no is not a port or a reskin as far as I can tell, even if the terrible games are probably copies of better games.

Anmitsu Hime is dece I guess. realized RN that SF6 World Tour n High-Tech World have a common thread - grindin on idiotic, hokey but fun questgrinds.... the 2nd n 4th stages with the 1-hit game over xD n also that hot dog vendor dude jumpin 15 ft into the air to land n cook a hotdog lol. the Miracle World 'sequeL' hacks are the only justice Alex had been done after OG Miracle World. the 2020 remake's fine. Shinobi World is too goddamn'd easy or wouLd've been ace. Enchanted Castle was colorfuL but a bit lacking in the inspiration department n the Janken/PRS matches make no sense. then again they sorta didn't in Miracle World either.

The Cyber Shinobi. I've already stated this in other threads n possibleh even this one lol. at least the SMS Shadow Dancer had impressive graphics with large chars for 8-bit. n OG SMS Shinobi - Musashi moved like he had an accident in his unconcealed semi-ninja getup n is just fighting enemies on the way to the restroom. but for memory limitations I guess lv 1-2's music pLays on nearly every part of every damn lvl. STILL IS NOT AS FECAL-PANTS'DeD AS THE CYBURNT SHITPHOBEY. Sega's shame wiLL never die as this game is an Stinkubus/Suckubus demon that pLagues every Sega employee past/present/fvtvre!!!

The Cyber Shinobi <--- OMAE WA MOU SHIN DEIRUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuboooohooohoooowahhhh wHY Willem Dafoe!! whyyyyyy did you endorse this cartridge (OK goin a lil too far down the left-field of Irreverence Ave now)

Shinobi World is too goddamn'd easy

Maybe playing in an emulator with save states, I got killed in that game a lot. Yes it is a tad easier that Miracle World but not that much. What makes Miracle World so hard is that the Janken matches can kill you and several guide damn it moments. Without that it would be almost as easy as Shinobi World.

no, I owned the physical copy n found it much, much easier than Miracle World in about '90-'91 right before I left Jerz for Vegas... maybe it played a lot more to my strengths? idk The Lost Stars I found to be a bigger challenge as weLL n I beat both 'quests' n Kung Fu Kid often in those times. a lot of SMS games were tougher than Miracle World though IMO

after the 1st Janken match you get the telepathy baLL or wutev'R but stiLL requires twitch reflex to shift when the enemy changes their mind at the last moment

telepathy baLL

Fun fact; if you DON'T get the telepathy ball the janken matches are always the same, so is better to use a cheat sheet that get the telepathy ball. What got me stuck for years was the easy to miss code you are supposed to write down and use later. That's why it took me over a decade to beat Miracle World cause guess what? It wasn't possible to just look online for a guide when I first got the darn game.

Now getting back to topic about worst Sega games what is ridiculous about Sonic 06 is that it was only released on consoles that could get online updates but Sega DIDN'T BOTHER TO FIX THE GAME!!!

While nowadays day one patches are not only common, they are expected.

Is amazing how many Sonic games got fixed. Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Soniic 3D Blast all got updated and improved versions.

Sonic 1 is fine as it is, sure the extras are nice but it doesn't really make the game better.

Sonic 2 was fun but a buggy mess, so you literally couldn't get all the rings due to all the out of bounds rings.

Sonic 3... well that's complicated.

Some prefer the original, some prefer it with the prototype tracks, some prefer Sonic 3 Complete or Sonic 3 Air.

Sonic 4 really needs a fan made mod that remakes part 1 with the playstyle of part 2, ands a fanmade part 3 and includes the Metal episode all in a single game.

Anyway, do we have a thread about Sega Master System games somewhere? I want to write about actually good Sega Master System games.

if you make one I'll fer-Sher hit it

me mum clearly remembers how she would get me a $30-$60 SMS game every time we went to the Depford MaLL in South Jersey. I think Phantasy Star might've been $70 or $80? not sure n neither is she but that was definiteLy one of the very last SMS games she would fork out fer meh lol then in '93 got a gf who had a GameGear n she asked "wiLL you gimme aLL your SMS games if I get the converter?" - n even months later, I should've been more like "BISCH PLZ" but you know how that horseshit goes in aLL likelihood.... you live, you learn, you get burned, cynicism earned

I stiLL have a coupLe SMS controllers n the Light Phaser, though, the OG MK III console I had that accepted my card games like Ghost House n My Hero - it feLL a long way n SMASHOLA so that shit didn't make it but at least a couple remnants did n emuLation covers the rest

if you make one I'll fer-Sh

Now to get back on topic the reason that Sonic Boom Rise Of Lyric is so bad is both being unfamiliar with the hardware and the game engine they used not being made for a Sonic game.

Also the game honesty feels like a Crash Bandicoot game modded to have Sonic and company on it, Lyric would definitely have worked better as a Crash Bandicoot villain.

i know some people have said it but to be honest i'd personally say : ecco the dolphin

i own a new version Sega mega drive that comes with a build-in games and one of them are ecco the dolphin. at first i thought the games isn't bad and saw a few people say it's bad and i told myself i'd give it a try

and holy cow

the time i wasted playing this game is what i regret

I said the worst 1st party SEGA themselves game last thread so I'll say what IMO the worst game on a Sega platform in general is here.

Fatman/Slaughter Sport on the Genesis is the worst fighting game I've ever played and a serious contender for worst fighting game of all time. There is legit nothing to be enjoyed nor any redeemable qualities to it. Graphics are God-awful and serve as a poster boy for how American devs had no idea how to work with the console's color palette, music is nothing but shrill shrieks and GEMS farts, the character designs are as bland and unoriginal as the genre gets, and the gameplay is equivalent to two slugs with weighted boots trying to partake in a kickboxing match. The game is of such nonexistent quality that ACTIVISION didn't even want to publish it, and removed themselves from the game before it was released. When goddamn Activision doesn't want anything to do with your product, THAT'S how you know you've fucked up.

Toxic Crusaders and DJ Boy are serious contenders for the "Worst Sega Game" label too, but at least those two have ONE redeeming quality to them such as the music or having a decent idea that was just executed badly, Fatman has NONE of that.

Sonic and the seven rings, easily.
I've stiLL yet to post-traumatize mehself with that one

your av - nice corpsepaintin. NergaL only wishes he looked that cool anymore

DJ Boy in the arcade had that both annoying-n-awesome-simultaneousLy announcer constantLy frogthroatin it n the GenMD port ofc was completely devoid of that. in the earLy 90's that's when you take your rentaL back n punch the employee behind the counter even though they had nothin to do with anything

lezz get on some Ex-Mutants n Dinosaurs for Hire Malibu comixx tie-ins! lezz not but say *WE HID*

I'm not a fan of these topics tbh, but if I had to choose a very disappointing SEGA game I pick Golden Axe Beast Rider, it may not be their worst games but it is one of my biggest disappointments, I was excited for the game and it ended up a complete slop.

This is a Square Enix game.

Considering this is the only game my normally-chill bf actually hates, I agree.
This isn't even the worst Sonic game imo let alone the worst SEGA game, I'd take it over Sonic Boom or Sonic Labyrinth, heck, it's even better than Bug!
