What is the worst port of a game?

This is definitely nowhere near the worst of all time, but the XCom 2 PS4 port was pretty damn atrocious. Incredibly long load times, awful performance, severely downgraded visuals, constant bugs and crashes. That said, it's not like such things are a rarity these days...

Ironically and perhaps even bafflingly the Switch port actually plays and performs way, way better.

Doom on the SNES was soooooo slow it was practically a slideshow!

The other one I can think of is Final Fantasy 6 on the PSX. Despite having similar visuals to the SNES, it was so poorly optimized that everything took forever to load. Even going to the submenu took a minute of loadtime!

Need for Speed Most Wanted on Nintendo DS.

It is so bad that sensory sweep, the company who made this port, was basically put on a "never contact us again" list by EA after they swapped out Pocketeers for them for this one after Pocketeers took too long to make the arguably really excellent Underground 2 port for DS. (which only happened because the DS ended up more powerful than both EA and Pocketeers thought it would be which is a completely different can of worms)

Alternatively, Need for Speed Prostreet on PSP, unironically the DS version is better and one of the most exciting NFS games was made sterile for the more powerful handheld, but then again, NFS was mostly a crapshoot on PSP outside of maybe Carbon: Own The City, but even that felt sterile.

The No More Heroes pc ports are really bad. The first one was playable for me but had awful audio issues, and the second one is just unplayable because it crashes instantly when you start a level. I was really disappointed because I always wanted to played them (I didn't have a Wii).

Casting my vote for the PC port of Saints Row 2.
Even with the community patches, I couldn't get it to behave well enough to actually play it.

I know right!
My computer, can barely play it (I mean admittedly my computer isn't very powerful, but it should be able to run a game that old with ease). Not only that, but the car physics were way off compared to the console versions..

It's Hard Drivin' on the Commodore 64 and there isn't much in life I'm like "this isn't even a discussion" about, but this is one.

ive talked about Rayman Advance before, so lemme pull a new one out: SimCity 2000 for PS1, specifically the PS1 classics version on PSP. it's truly breathtaking how obscenely slow it is, and it's pretty much unplayable because of that. like, not only did they decide to officially release this on PS1 in the state it was in, but then decided to OFFICIALLY RERELEASE it for PSP and have people pay REAL MONEY for what is essentially an unplayable game. it may have run better on original hardware, but on the PSP i can confirm it's total dogwater.

I think that has more to do with the PSX emulation on the PSP than the actual game release. Still, they could have optimized their emulator better for paying customers.

For me is Shadow of Mordor on 360 and PS3, it runs like at 20fps, doesn't have the DLC and the Nemesis system was eliminated.
Another one worth mentioning is Black Ops 3 on the same consoles as the prior example
At least it came with a code for Black Ops 1 ?‍?️.

okay so this is a little strange as i havent played the windows version of this game but i DID play the wii version back in the day and while i havent gotten the physical game again i thought i could just buy it on steam and just relive nostalgia
APPARENTLY NOT. half the animals that are available in the wii version arn't here since the the dev team got sacked during the pc port production

$10 on steam when you can get a rom or pay at cheapest $3 or $4 on ebay or something

SFII on SNES feels pretty terrible to play, I'm sure there are worse bootleg ports of that game, though.
anything ported to psp
Manhunt on PSP is actually OK. I haven't played any of the other games in the series, but it was an interesting experience. Granted, I didn't pay for it, might feel differently if I had ?‍♂️

That's $10 you could've put towards a dolphin bar, bro :U

Not that it was the best game to begin with, but the SNES port of Pit Fighter.
OIP.jpg

Massively scaled back, missing all stage/weapon interactivity, and you have to beat the whole game on one life with NO (!?) health recovery between matches.

Borderlands 3. The framerate there is so shit, that even Payday 2 handles it SO much better.
On what system? It ran fine on base Xbox One and I don't remember anyone saying that the PS4 was any worse. I still remember Payday 2 dipping to almost single digits during some heists on PS3 lol

Lone Prayer slaps tho
Never liked it. It's too short and repetitive. Encounters make the song that more annoying to hear. Bloody Destiny should've been the normal fight theme since it goes a bit longer and would fit. Lone Prayer sounded more like a boss theme anyway

Here's a few

Pretty cool cover art though

Obligatory answer of the SNES port of Doom as well. The port itself is a miracle that it exists at all, but it had to be heavily, deeply compromised to work.

I'll raise you Duke Nukem 3D on the Sega Genesis
duke-nukem-3d-mega-drive-review.jpg

It was exclusive to Brazil from Tec Toy. It contains only the second episode with extremely simplified levels and in general is heavily stripped down to fit. The voice clips are in, but Duke sounds like he's 12 whiskeys in with how slowed they are.
