I just want a perfect emulator to play the forgoten classics of this console, but every single saturn emulator has flaws and the only one stable for my pc is bettle saturn for retroarch, but i dont want to use retroarch anymore i want a standalone one, any sugestions in mind?

i prefer to play on pc with a xbox controller i dont play on android that much.
It has its issues (some of them glaring), but... Yaba Sanshiro (Android) is stable enough and fast enough to let you play pretty much anything. I beat Magic School Lunar with it.

I haven't emulated Saturn in a while now but SSF has always been a trooper for me, even with its quirks. Other than that I hear Mednafen is pretty good though you'll need a frontend for it. I recommend Mednaffe. I only ever used it to emulate other consoles but I hear its Saturn core is good.

i tried mednaffen but its to complex to setup for me.
installing roms is easy but install mednaffen is in another level.

Then you can try SSF or have a look at this list: Saturn emulators. There are a few more options mentioned there, maybe you'll find one to your liking.

I'm actually planning on setting up Mednafen with Mednaffe soon, specifically for Saturn emulation (I want to play Policenauts lol), so I could probably help you out if you want as I figure it out. But yeah, Mednafen might seem a bit overkill if you just want to play Saturn games since you can more easily install a dedicated Saturn emulator instead, however I've also heard that the Mednafen core is actually the best Saturn emulator around atm.

I use Yabause - which was always an unstable, unpredictable n finicky emu up unTIL... I put 'proactionreplay.rom' in the Yabause main directory - n you get that prompt askin if you wanna put in a code to cheat - but for reasons I can't completely fathom, it turned Yabause into a stable, decently compatible emulator. I've done this on several laptops over the years with different Windows versions n different brands - so seems a legit option. which is good cuz I've tried other Saturn emus n they're even spottier than Yabause was pre-Pro Action Replay add-on file

okay i will try mednaffe when i have time.

What is it about the Retroarch/core that you don't like that is making you want a standalone emulator?

Bizhawk has been my main method of Saturn emulation for the last couple of years. It’s reliable, very accurate and seems to have the least “quirks”. The only problem I occasionally have is an incorrect aspect ratio though most games do display correctly.

Other than what's already mentioned (Yaba Sanshiro, Bizhawk)

There's an emulator called Kronos, developed by FCare, it is based upon Yaba Sanshiro and Yabause. It's pretty great and got an update not long ago (29 SEP)

I usually use Kronos, but it has its issues and one time it completely broke my graphics driver (whoops), but overall it's worked for me pretty well. I managed to play all of Sakura Wars from start to finish on it with little to no issues.
If you're looking for something more consistent tho, while also taking into account you've used the beetle core in retroarch, then I'd recommend mednafen (alongside mednaffe so that it doesn't fry your brain). I've only used it sparingly but it seems to work well, although it doesn't support stuff like Playstation controllers unless you use something like DS4Windows, but that's a minor issue, really.

SSF is the one I use.

I have none. Tried several of them and i didnt find any of them satisfying. I'm hoping that stenzek stop focusing on ps1/ps2 and try saturn next. ;)

i think Mednafen is the same thing as the beetle cores
it has no UI by itself so you would have to set a shortcut targeting the .exe & the rom
and settings would be in an .ini file
but at least you wouldn't have to deal with retroarch's ui

apparently you can also just drag/drop the rom onto the Mednafen .exe
instead of setting up a shortcut

SSF is usually the Saturn Emulator I utilize in combination with Daemon Tools Lite (it's also recommended to try out various versions of SSF to see on which games can run well in them). My second alternative is Mednafen utilizing the Mednaffe Interface.

i agree with bizhawk, played baroque on it and didn't have any problem, i think is one of the best multi-system emulator that you can find

Use Mednafen with the Mednaffe frontend. You won't have too many issues. If you need help setting up drop me a line on PM.

I use the Beetle Saturn core in RAlibreto (can't stand retroarch). SSF have a massive input delay in Burning Rangers.

I tried Yaba Sanshiro but in OpenGL it is extremely slow and in Vulkan the screen keeps flickering. Man I just want to play Burning Rangers with bigger internal resolution...

Either stand-alone Mednafen, which is more accurate, or Retroarch (BeetleSaturn), it depends on your setup: do you have CRT hooked up to you pc?

It's easy, just read the Documentation on their site and edit the .cfg accordingly. Feel free to ask if you need help though.

Use Mednafen and learn the command line.

I wasn't able to find this rom file, where did you get it? I'd like to use it with the new YabaSanshiro release.
