What is an Unpopular Game You Will Defend Till the Day You Die

Persona 1 and Persona 2 Duology ik they're not liked for some reason but I like all versions of these games yes even the PSP versions like they're not the best remakes but I'd still say they're passable. Except for Eternal Punishment PSP it's basically the same as the PS1 version just a different UI and the Additional Scenario so I'd say that's the best one lol

Oh I still don't get the hate for 6, ppl who say "it's not survival horror anymore, it's a shooter", that applies to RE4/5 too, and to some extent to 2/3.
For sure, i still enjoy them as games, but i still also agree with that they are not survival horror games. But such feed back is what led to 7 and 8, which are improvements in the horror and shock department, but linear games, with little mystery imho. But none the less, i also still enjoy them for what they are.

Chaos Legion.

People just call it "DMC at home" but it's so much more than that. It's a weird "musou-actionRPG-beastsummoner" hybrid of a game that I love pretty much everything about.
It's based on a novel/gothic opera, the aesthetics are unique and the music rules. It's got some uninspired and boring characters, but the game itself is one of my favorites and I have fond memories of it.

Yeah it actually plays nothing like DmC, and it was a badass game.

Oh and of course

Reviewers took the opportunity to indulge in some virtue signaling by boiling the game down to "pervert game bad me holy", turns out it's deeper and more subtle than you'd expect.

I bought it because I always loved the whole design and atmosphere of the Nippon Ichi games (my brother is a Disgaea fan), but I don't like tactical RPG, so I was hype to play a Nippon Ichi RPG. Had no idea what the game was about except the whole going through hell concept, I was suprised by how minimalist it was in terms of aesthetics (the attacks aren't even animated) and the weird pacing of the game.

In my top 5 vita games, and I love the Vita.
This has gorgeous aesthetic

My point was that Resident Evil was always "blow up zombies with grenade launcher" series, claiming that 6 is the only one that has too much action doesn't make sense since it was the same as 4 and 5.

Chaos Legion has that unique semi-direct gameplay style like Overlord, or Bladestorm, where you still control your main character to fight but it's more effective giving orders to your troops than fighting alone, any other games like that?

Epic Mickey 2

Yup, the game is shorter, yup, the mood is lighter than the first one and yup, the camera is still a mess and a half

BUT!

It has far better characterization, Ortensia, petrified in the first game, now can show her love for Oswald in all her ink and paint, the Prescott boss is in par with 1's Clock Tower, the Mad Doctor is as cheesy and delicious as Deep Dish Pizza and i actually LIKE the ligter atmosphere of the game, since my poor bunny suffererd too much in the first game

Not without its flaws, Epic Mickey 2 is still a good Disney game and the inspiration for me to become a fan of Rubber Hose Cartoons

Duke Nukem Forever.
DNF was such a colossal disappointment back then. We’d have all been better off had it been shelved indefinitely.
The funny thing is if they had just made a warts and all throwback to 90s first person shooters it would have done much better and could have been almost a decade ahead of the curve of retro style shooters. Instead it was a greatest hits compilation of all of the genre‘s worst qualities at the time. Still it was kind of wild to see a game released into my adulthood that was first announced when I was still in elementary school.

I have mention a lot Sonic cd and sonic riders zero gravity. Also already mentioned a lot of times Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance. Also i mention Fire emblem shadow dragon as my favorite Fire emblem. What other unpopular game should I say now…? I know :3

Soo “Mario party” the game that u are supposed to u know play with friends, have a party of people to play with??? Yeah i like Mario Party Advance, as a kid i didn’t understand the hate, and i still kinda don’t get it fully. But yeah that game was fire, it had a really fun humor, even the Spanish version that i always tend to dislike because is the European spanish is funny af. Also the minigames when they happen are a lot of fun, some my favorite duel minigames are on that game (yeah the chainsaw one is probably top 5 on my duel minigames tier list).

Soo yeah, funny singleplayer mario party my beloved ❤️

Well, it isnt that complex but it surely is a gem with its status being the last game to utilize the AKI Engine.

If this game is unpopular, then I'll die defending it.

It brightens up my day.
Will defend for the sake of my love for Japanese Wrestling shenanigans.

It's not a Nippon Ichi-made games tho
It's by Imageepoch, which in itself basically the king of niche RPGs yet beloved by people who actually play them all (7th Dragon, Fate/EXTRA, Luminous Arc, etc)
Speaking of, it also leads to my favorite proclaimed "kusoge" which is actually way better than what garbage critics said back then and contributed greatly to Imageepoch's bankruptcy:

The first game that comes to mind for me when it comes to this subject is Okamiden.

Yes, there's so many plot holes for a sequel to the original Okami and it definitely needed a lot more time in the oven before being released, but I found it to be honestly very charming especially if you consider it an AU sequel.

really, what were they are saying? Because ive seen reviews and the general consensus is that the game has some really great concepts and a unique and evocative art style but ultimately just isn't that fun to actually play

River City Ransom
River_City_Ransom-front.jpg

It is a masterpiece of perfection in the early pioneer days of Nintendo gaming, a bold entry into the NES and Famicom libraries and not afraid to take itself less seriously at times just to make sure the crowd has fun. It's got enough content to keep people interested and the replayability as well, just needs a fix for that horrible lag problem and we'd have the perfect 2-Player NES game.

Picked this up in 2001 and I loved it. I had a multitap for my PS1 and even got some friends together to play the 4 player mode. No one else enjoyed it as much as I did. Sure it was janky, but it was also a lot of fun.

I wish I played it as a kid! The only PS1 brawlers I had were Fighting Force games. Gekido is talked now as the best PS1 beatemup now, but it's absolutely flew past most people's radars.
