What Game Mechanics or Gameplay Features do you wish were in More Games?

I want the chance of your pilot dying upon ejecting to be on ALL fly simulation games. It makes failure all the more punishing, but no less realistic. So far, I have only seen it on Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator.

RPGs with optional town building like Suikoden or Digimon World (1) I want to recruit characters and unlock the systems in the game by doing it.

Not Much Of A Game Mechanic, (I think this maybe a rant, sorry in advance) But Having The Lack Of Old Style Games From Real Creators With Original Ideas And Small Creative Team Efforts Rather Than Making Remakes And Rehashes And Making Stuff A P-2-W (Pay-to-Win) Or Making Games More Lackluster. No Offense To The Big Companies For Using The Same Formula Over And Over, But We Only See INDIE Dev. Create More Original Ideas Then The People Who Literally Made Most Of Our Childhood. If I Was To Go Back To The OG Console And Start Naming Original Games (Example: To Many To Count::cool) All Were Made With One Thing In Mind, The Player Is Having Fun Then The Profit In Mind.

Companies Have Way Too Much Budget For Creating Games That Were Trash To Begin With (Looking At You Skull & Bones) And Calling Them The Peak Of Gaming, We've Already Peaked With Great Games Like The Latest Monster Hunter And Yakuza And Son Wu-Kong, Space Marines, Sekiro, Elden Ring And Many More. Heck China's Variation Of Marvel (Marvel Rivals) Bought More Profit Than The Whole Of Concord, Marvel Avengers and Star Wars Outlaws Combined ( no offense to anyone who have played and had a good time with it).

We Need Games That Don't Take 1.5 TB of Nothing Fun Or Original, Remember Gears of War 2 or Vanquish, Those Games From Less Then 10 GB games, Heck Metal Gear Solid 3 Was Less Then 2 GB.
So Many Missed Opportunities Like Spyro, MediEvil, Berserk(Sorry I Had To), Breath of Fire, Parasite Eve, Koudelka, XenoGears And Many More That Could Have Been Made But Are Left To Collect Dust.

In The End, We Need Smaller Games With Original Titles Rather Big Games With No Originality Or At Least Old Games Having A New Title Launches With A Fresh Slate.

Wow, what a rant!

I think you should make this an article. And no worries, there's nothing wrong with a rant at all! It's actually pretty enjoyable to read ::dkapproves

Also, welcome to the forum!

I like when jrpgs let you have 5 or 6 characters in battle. It gives you more options and more ways for different classes or whatever to interact in combat.
So many games only let you use 3. Maybe 4. It worked for Chrono Trigger, sure, but more is better imo.

Maybe this is just because my first jrpg was Final Fantasy IV and it uses 5 characters in combat, but I've always wished more games did this.
Xenoblade 3 lets you have 6 active characters (7 with a guest). There's also an indie game (looks like RPG Maker) called I Have Low Stats But My Class Is "Leader" So I Recruited Everyone I Know To Fight The Dark Lord that lets you have 99 characters in battle.

The problem isn't that it's long, but that you use poor structure. Don't capitalize every single word; it makes your writing less readable and negates the usefulness of punctuation by deluding their visibility. I read a sentence or so and gave up because it was tiring to read.

I love the PS2 Shinobi game's tate system for boss fights. I want to see some other games do that. I like when games give players different ways to beat bosses. You can knock them off platforms in Prince of Persia (2008) to end the fight, and you could use specific heads against certain bosses in Puppeteer to easily take them down like a Mega Man game. Just a few examples. Give me something more than just "keeping hitting it until its HP is gone" all the time.

I like when games incorporate the environment into the action. That's one of the best things about Sleeping Dogs, X-Men Wolverine Origins Uncaged Edition, and Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, killing enemies using things in the environment. Again, it's about variety. I like having different ways to take out enemies besides, "just hit them until all of their health is gone".

I also like enemy manipulation like we see in games like Mischief Makers and Wild 9 where you grab enemies and do fun stuff with them. Or like in the Oddworld games where you can mind control enemies. I loved that. In Mark of the Ninja you could terrify a guard, causing him to get trigger happy and accidentally shoot his allies.

The Deception series from Tecmo have cool, trap based gameplay that not many games utilize and I don't think there are any games that do it like Deception does it. I need this in more video games:

I wish we could get more rail shooters like Star Fox. Seems like a dead genre.

More beat 'em ups! People say the genre is in a renaissance but I still see very few of them come out every year. That's not a renaissance to me.

I like rpg turn based combat systems where you can manipulate turn order like we see in Grandia, the Legend of Heroes series, or Tidus' Quick Hit+haste in Final Fantasy X. I also like when you can interrupt enemy attacks like in Final Fantasy X-2. I like being able to strategically control the flow of a battle instead of waiting for enemies to hit me and not being able to do anything about it. That's actually one thing I like about Mario rpgs, you can actually defend or dodge enemy attacks.

And another thing about rpgs, they should all have a new game plus mode.

I want to see more games built around multiple characters working together, kind of like what we saw in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Or leading a squad like Freedom Fighters, the Pikmin games, or some of the Oddworld games. I like cooperating with others and it shouldn't be something that only exists in multiplayer games with human players. I loved how they incorporated Elika into everything the prince did in Prince of Persia (2008), or how you teamed up with Robin in that one mission in Batman Arkham Knight.

I wish musou games would start making use of morale again like in the older Dynasty Warriors games (DW 3-5). Morale is a non factor in most modern Warriors type games. I also hate how in many of them your army never does anything useful. The first Hyrule Warriors game was basically you running around the map fighting everything and doing everything. You have an entire army of troops basically doing nothing.

Card based mini games! They're a blast. I liked Triple Triad in Final Fantasy 8, the card game in the game parlors of the Voice of Card games, and I think even Xenosaga had one too. Having something that is like a virtual Magic the Gathering where you can collect cards is awesome.

Why are there so few RPG fighting games? I think Red Earth was trying something interesting that we don't see in other fighters.

The sword mechanic of metal gear rising.
Injuries that affect the characters performance, soldier of fortune and Bushido blade are the only games that I know of and both are pretty old by now.
