i think this game is the reason why i love poorly aged 3d games

Major League Baseball on NES is objectively a bad game -- it's a glitch fest that plays like ass, but I can't bring myself to hate it. It's too damn historically important as a game and I had a lot of fun battling it as a younger lad.

I'm the Crash Bash, Gun Survivor 2: Code Veronica and Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop apologist.

I'll only elaborate on Dead Rising here though. Honestly? It's not bad. Probably more so in the context of someone who only had a Wii as an option for a long time way back when, and who absolutely loved playing Resident Evil 4 on it. It'd never be on par or surpass the original on the Xbox 360, but some of the additions are definitely interesting or nice, like added enemy variety with the parrots or undead psychopaths. Some elements are compromised due to the platform, like the enemy count and truncated/condensed areas, but I feel those make it different rather than necessarily bad. It's 100% one I'd recommend if you love Dead Rising and want something a bit different to play through.

Tricky Question on my end as most games Ive Played are pretty well received. So it's often games that once had good reputations that now get a ton of flak for seemingly no good reason. Such as Pokemon Sun and Moon and Sonic 2. only true game i can think of that's considered a black sheep to this day and not retroactively is Ace Attorney Justice for all which i don't understand the hate for

Tbf I know Mega Man X5 has seen a bit of a reappraisal in recent years, but it still gets a lot of hate every now and then. I've always genuinely liked that game (I agree the original localisation sucked ass, but the gameplay was still fine), in fact I'd even go as far to say I like it WAY more than X4.

A lot of people dislike 3rd Birthday but I thoroughly enjoy it, it’s very different from the first two Parasite Eve games but that doesn’t bother me.

I also really like Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and consider it to be the best in the series for the fun puzzles, stellar graphics on the DS, intriguing story (that i wish they’d continue), and definitely not making me a furry.

Drakengard 3 is another one that I’d throw up there but I don’t know if people really hate that game or not.

Wouldn't say hate, more so ignored, but as the years go on I really enjoy Yoshi Touch & Go. So much so it's the only video game I ever made a proper review on

Yoshi Touch & Go | Nintendo DS | Games | Nintendo UK

I'd say, Dark Souls 2 and Monster Hunter: Rise. There's probably one or two more but I just can't bother to work up my brain to think for it.

- Dark Souls 2 -
You know the deal (probably), pretty much if you want to get into Dark Souls series, you have to pretend Dark Souls 2 does not exist because "it's shit, B-Team ruin it, Soul Memory suck, quantity over quality bosses, jank movement, level design suck, yada-yada-yada". But in all honestly, DS2 special in its own way even with many flaw. PvE-wise, it got the most content (with many frustration), it has unique interaction to progress and minor stuff, and NG+ difference (which unfortunately not many people experience). PvP-wise, most weapon viable for random invasion as long you gain the upperhand in jank battle.

Even Aava battle where she invisible if you don't take detour to get Eye of the Priestess, it's still doable, you just really need to git gud in order to beat him. Same for Ivory King, you want to help the knight around the map to freeze portal mid-battle unless you want adds keep spawning while fighting Ivory King. The famous Alonne seppuku if you no-hit.

That little detail and charm what makes DS2 special in its own way even if the majority of people hates it.

- Monster Hunter: Rise -
I'm just going to keep it brief since I already talked about my preference in MH series. I love Rise over World/Wilds due to decoration is easily farmed (in fact, crafted), and Qurious Crafting got a lot of shit for being RNG-fest when World/Wilds deco drop is far more freaked in RNG. If anything, you could ignore Qurious Crafting and still have decent build, and that's already significantly better than World/Wilds.

Optimizing for every juice drop kills Rise, in my opinion. I ignore Safi/Kulve in World, and still have a good time.

HONESTLY i loved dark souls 2 and every single time i've tried dark souls 1 it suckss so bad so i never finished it

When I decided to play Fallout 76, I received an unusual amount of grief from several people I know. That's about the closest I've had? Usually it's the other way around, I don't care for a game that people fall all over themselves for.

Most of my favorite games from my childhood are also some of the very same titles that a certain... emotional video game nerd has also convinced people are garbage 😛

I've replied about this on another topic, but the easy choice for me is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on the NES. Mostly because I was a huge Indy fan as a kid, and it was by far the best Indy home game I had played to that point. That, and my Mum bought it for me randomly, unannounced - just came home from a shopping trip with it, and said, "Here ya go." Dawwwww.

Runner-up is P.N.03 on the Gamecube. Game got totally dunked on when it released, and my friends thought I was just plain th00pid for buying it... but I loved that damn game. Still do 😎

Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. I have no idea why everyone hates it aside of being the second game with the same assets from SMB1. It has a great challenge, and some of the levels were used for VS. Super Mario Bros.

oh my goodness i've never seen P.N.03 but it looks like exactly the kind of bad 3d retro game i would love im totally gonna try it eventally

This is funny one to me, but in my case, it's Geometry Dash.
I asked few of my friend for it, and of them says it's just a boring jumping square game, which potentially rage inducing (I don't know if inducing actually a word).

Said it multiple times already, but both Castlevania games for the 64 are pretty darn good.
I also like MegaMan X6 a lot, and honestly, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was really fun.
The Castlevania 64 games, like FFXIII and Sonic Unleashed had one hell of a switch up where a lot of people now agree that they're good.
And also I cannot understate how overblown the Mystic Quest hate is, like the game was literally meant for babies new to the genre, what did people expect, Dark Souls the Final Fantasy game? Makes me wonder if they'd have this same energy for a lot of educational games.
Ace Attorney Justice for all which i don't understand the hate for
I kinda understand it, a lot of the cases feel like filler and Turnabout Big Top was probably the one time localisation changes could've been for the better. I didn't think it was that bad when I stop thinking about how it's essentially the filler arc between two story heavy games.
my personal favorite hated game is
Sonic 3D Blast. I feel like Sonic spinoffs get a lot of flack for not being the same as a mainline game. Some cases are understandable like the Storybook games having terrible control, Sonic Labyrinth being a slog to play, Sonic Drift suffering from being Game Gear exclusive, Lost World having a nothing villain team and sluggish gameplay in between levels, etc. Then I look at how Sonic the Fighters was called a terrible game for literally no reason for decades. Unlike that game though, 3D Blast never really got that redemption. It was going for something unique and not trying to get in the way of any other Sonic releases and people just hate its entire existence solely because it's a collectathon...either that or because Sega fell back on it once Sonic Xtreme had to be canned. It's not that bad a game imo, played it 3 times.
