What game development projects are you working on?

As the title says. I've been working on a RPG in SmileBasic4(It is basically BASIC for the switch). Still in the early stages so nothing to show off.
What have you been working on? Perhaps you've been working on something in Unity, GameMaker, or even Assembly. Lets see it!

I've been working on an FPS in Godot. I tentatively call it DUAL since it focuses on dual wielding.

I've actually been in and out of a couple. Most never seem to take off, unfortunately. Usually collaborators lose interest. The snags of working with strangers
I'm willing to bet that's how most of these kinds of projects die, lol

I'm a designer, software planner, and audio engineer so my wheelhouse is using the tools as opposed to building them. Thus the snags.

If anyone needs help in those departments, HMU (y)

I've been working on a Strategy RPG romhack for Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones for like forever. Slow progress. I would like to step it up to a real game engine someday. I don't mind C# or Python but I'm not an expert in either. I took some Java courses in school but that was a long time ago.

I've been playing around with Phaser for forever... Haven't ever completed anything. Tried playing around with Twine and was able to get the skeleton of a game going. But fell off of that.

I have used Godot before, but wasn't a fan of their GDScript or C# (I do prefer JavaScript), but with so many others on here using Godot, I might just have to get back into it.

I've been trying to develop a game for quite some time, but grad school is hard lol. Although the development is slow, I am going somewhere I think.
Anyway, I've did some stuff with some friends, but we've parted ways.

One of the friends that worked with me on OTW is now developing a super cool Mega Man-like game, you guys should check out -> https://twinklesoftware.itch.io/robogal

Very cool! I only just started my Itch.io page/account. I have a tarot app that I put together and am actively working on, and then a Twine story that I started, which is more or less just an interactive design doc at this point... Which is maybe what will happen with what I'm working on now. We'll see.

Dude its so hard to keep a low/no budget team together. Basically, you need 2-5 people with complimentary skill sets, too much free time, and all are excited about the same project at the same time. (not to mention hardware, software, and connections...)

It's that excitement part that's the killer. As soon as someone starts with any sort of low-key management or suggestions peeps get so discouraged.

Yeah, its usually the part where i say "we need to set up a perforce server because this project is already 2 GB and we cant just email all these files back and forth"

people are like a per-what?
perforce
a what-force?
perforce
a what-what?

ive realized you just have to set it up... and possibly install the client for them and just be like
"files go here"

haha

Effectively, lol.
Was lucky enough to have work with folks who were down with github as a shared point.
Chasing bugs without old versions is a bitch pain, my friend.

i mostly had problems with artists who are making good art or animations, but it just gets out of hand quickly if you don't have some version control for the art too...

especially if you are getting all kinds of file sizes and resolutions, and you have to refine the style into something coherent somehow... AND make it fun to play... and then it's like, lots of times i will end up working with girls who have a job and are in college and get pregnant... etc... d'oh.

...

ok, but i don't want to derail this thread with all that... i should just find some more girls who make sweet looking doodles aren't pregnant yet and make a new project to post. haha

Not working on something at this moment, but I recently completed something. I had been wondering for some time if anyone was working on an uncensoring patch for Abadox (NES), which I figured would get done any day now, so I patiently waited for it to get done. I eventually decided to just do it myself, which turned out to be incredibly simple, as all the data that needed to change was put together in the file in a very convenient way. I'm guessing it was never posted as a patch online because someone figured the rest of us should be able to figure it out ourselves.

So, like, make with the patch!

I am working in a dream-like style turn based RPG that uses a mix of 2D and pre-rendered backgrounds and some strange mechanics that I still have no idea how to implement. In Godot. I hope I can release its demo in time for this LSDJAM.
What is the LSDJAM???

is that like geltabs that somebody put too much water in the batch

(ive never done this)

(...ok, maybe twice)

Unfortunately, I haven't had a place to post hacks since romhacking.net stopped hosting. The good news is that I can give simple instructions for how to get it done:
  1. Get Abadox (U) and Abadox (J).
  2. Get Tile Layer Pro (I believe romhacking has it in utilities).
  3. Open both files in TLP.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of both sets of tiles.
  5. Both have the tiles for the princess aligned already so the images look like they would in-game.
  6. Drag and drop the (J) tiles for the princess over to the (U) file.
  7. Close the (J) file.
  8. Save the (U) file and exit.
  9. Optionally, use 7zip to compress the (U) file.
Pretty simple. Had I known they had the whole sequence set up for easy editing, I'd have done it sooner.

errr Thankfully not. If someone is curious, LSDJAM is a itch.io game jam inspired in that cult classic ps1 game LSD Dream Emulator, so its more focused on dream-like and surreal games.
ahhh cool! i've never played that. I'll check out the jam, too.. i always forget about itch.io

Ahh... thanks... it's really a shame about romhacking.net... seems like they could switch to off-shore hosting... i guess everything is just super sketchy these days with the out of control Nintendo lawsuits...
