What do you use Discord for?

Discord is only for me to keep in touch with my small circle of friends. I agree with the negative sentiment about Discord, though.

Only heard of it, never used it. But it seems all the crazy, terrible, weird stuff mostly stems from there.

It's one of those things that makes me sound old, but Discord is just too new for me. I looked at it for a few minutes once and felt out of my element.

Woah, ok. with this feedback, it is time to migrate to something better.
thank you very much to everyone ._. (y)

seggs the same shit i use every single communication app today <3 to talk to friends and hope they dont switch app to left me alone again <3

Mainly for chatting with friends and checking updates for things I'm interested in that have discord servers.

I have never use discord

Never used it! I never played with someone else witu chat voice.
I always get stick with my good freind text.
As i play on Russian servers, which a lot of them dont talk english,so i rather to dont use the voice chat or discord.
I know some people use it to share memes and I heard some meber of 3K using it too.
That's why I never use it.

NGL - prefer a live chat to posting - though sometimes posting is better cuz in chat there's sort of an obligation for immediacy n response. building rapport n interactive debate can be more engaging for me - but that also works against me if I'm not in the mood for a fast-scrolling meme-a-thon or 'deep thoughts' binge.

I can keep the 'jokes' coming at a rapid pace n sorta tailor them to the read I get on the overaLL vibe of any 1 person or the room in general - which I suppose is pandering to an extent but it's a lot better than abrasive indivdualism/contrarianism for the sake of itself n refusing to be on the same page as someone or everyone whilst acting like promoting an uneven playing field is some kind of dubious achievement n juxtaposing opinion as makeshift fact

Got my own server with mainly friends and coworkers.. playing and talking about anything

That's the fun part.

I don't.

Shenanigans. I keep in touch with some irl friends that way since I don't use the messenger app any longer. My partner has a gaming discord we use for multi-player games, and we use it for D&D and MotW.

Work, as the group i do projects with are on there. Besides that, it is isolated on a separate system on a separate network on a different isp, in a different house, in a different box on a different planet full of apples!.

i only use discord now to keep in touch with my very very very close friends. if possible, i'd like to get us to all migrate off the app seeing as how its now owned by an EX Blizzard CFO and has gone public on the stock market ayy lmao. the problem is that screen sharing the way u can on discord is kinda rare it seems on other VoIP services but idk.

ive been using discord practically since the app was made back in 2015 almost 10 years ago now (i made my original account in Nov 2015). i ended up deleting that one back during last Christmas and made a new one just for my personal friends.

honestly ive grown to absolutely loath "devices" as my parents call them. think phones, computers, game systems, etc. i spent way too long cooped up in my room escaping from reality and living online that i lost myself. I find that especially nowadays, everything online is engineered to suck away as much time, energy, money, and emotional stability from us as possible. its extremely toxic and id much rather life in the real world, thank you very much.

this forum is a nice way of putting up and building that Online|IRL barrier. discord always caused me to always "keep myself available" in case someone needed me or wanted to talk. it wasnt healthy. having boundaries with my devices and being able to step away and do my own things has had such a positive influence on my life. i legit have made more progress on my life and my goals in the past 4 months than i had the last 9 years of my life combined LOL

tl;dr: Discord sux ass, stay away LMAO

100% apps these days do not respect a persons time and privacy and try to keep us wired and worn out. Barriers are needed for a healthy mind and to recuperate.
