PS2 What do I do with my original Phat PS2 model?

You can mod it by adding an internal hard drive and custom firmware. You can add your games to it and not have to bother with switching disks and you can add emulators/roms. That's what I did with mine.

Try to jailbreak with FreeMcBoot and hooking up a 1TB HDD with a SATA adapter.
There are tons of foreign and modded games you can play that way.

Those are easy to find online/garage sales.
Also, i recommend you using 8bitdo controller adapter instead.

unless you already have A PS2, id say suck it up and keep it. i know you may not be interested in collecting for the PS2 At the moment, but believe me, its well worth it. AV Cables, Memory cards and Controllers are super cheap. though you might have to get component if you want the best image if you have a HDTV.

This system's one of my favorites and i think it'd be a shame to throw such a beast of a console out

Building off of what everyone else has said... if it is a SCPH-50001, that is the final revision of "phat" PS2, and as such, it also a IR receiver for a remote control.

If you don't have a reason to get rid of it, I say keep it. I sold my Pokemon Emerald because I wasn't using it 5 years ago and regret it.
