What did you play today?

Because I got excited for the trailer to DK Bananza, I've been playing a bit of Donkey Kong 64. The 'Tag Anywhere' mod really does make the game flow a billion times better.
Currently in the second world fumbling around in the sand.

That was one of the high-profile 64 games I skipped growing up. Well, more accurately, my older brother skipped it because I was still a child and it was his console. Anyway, without the proper nostalgia, that games looks like a waking nightmare to play whenever I see footage. What are your thoughts on it?

DK Bananza does look hype as fuck though. I'm getting Mario Odyssey Lite vibes from it which is a very good thing.

I actually didn't grow up on it, but I played it a lot at my friends house.
The mod I'm using makes it so that you can switch character at any time using the d-pad or the L button, and so far it alleviates the games most fatal flaw, which was that you had to return to the barrel in order to switch character, which led to an insane amount of back-and-forth.

So far, that annoyance is totally pulverized, and the entire experience is flowing WAY better.

While I didn't really care for Odyssey, I agree that Bananza kind of looked similar, but one glance at the destruction gimmick had me hooked instantly, and looks like it could be so much fun.

Played the Steam version of SVC Chaos. The only game I'll ever bother to get it full price. (which is just 10 dollars, anyway.)

It's good fun, my only complaint is that I have no idea how long this game is gonna take to enter a sale or something, sheesh. xD We're all cheap bastards in the end of the day.

Since i joined the forums, i almost never played any game anymore... because i spent all of my gaming time here! 😊

This forum was the best game for me! 🌟

Been playing nothing but Metal Slug X non stop, and STILL TRYING to beat the first level without dying a single time.

I've been playing Virtues Last Reward and recently I played a bit of Silent Hill.

The controls for the original Silent Hill are more annoying than the later games, so I'm taking a small break from playing.

Last month I picked up Monhun Generations Ultimate because Wilds was mid as hell and I'm 100 hours in at G2 rank absolutely loving it

I'm currently playing Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow and having a blast!
After that, I'll continue Metal Slug X.

Played some classic mega man (4 and 7 in particular). Also unironically started playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I know next to nothing about Sanrio but figured why not

Played a bunch more DK64, unlocked Lanky and Tiny, and beat the second boss. Tag Anywhere continues to prove to me that the game’s biggest flaw is having to switch Kongs at set points in the levels.

Now I’m playing some Persona 4. The PS2 version on my CRT really looks a gorillion times better than Golden. Just trying to speed through the intro and then I’ll take a break for tonight.

Which Persona game is your favorite? Also been meaning to tell you I luv the Snufkin av. Moomin is peak

two rpg maker games made by the secondary artist of undertale/deltarune. They were kinda boring.

Then I proceeded to not play with cars.

I’m actually not a terribly huge Persona fan.
Throughout the years I’ve tried 2, 4 and 5 at different times. I get a ways in then kind of lose interest.
I played 3 Reload on Gamepass last year and got completely hooked. I kinda rarely finish games, but I got completely absorbed in it, and I really loved it. The atmosphere, tone, script and cast was much more appealing than the previous ones I had tried. So I’d definitely say that one’s my favorite, or at this point maybe even the exception.

I do find them more enjoyable in general now than before, and I like setting and tone of 4 much more than 5 because it’s very relatable to me as the town feels similar to the one I grew up in.

I’m kinda new to the whole SMT world in general, and I do like ”core” SMT more than Persona, but that’s just because it’s more my style I think. Love Press Turn and that you fight alongside the demons.

Oops sorry for the long reply!

Lol no worries, I've got the attention span to read for 45 seconds. And I 100% agree, I worked a shitty overnight job at Dunkin Donuts and this was still when I smoked so I would go home, get stoned, and play Persona 3 FES on a crappy little LCD television and it was an absolute blast. The tone is just magnifique, and this might be the edgy 16 year old inside me talking but shooting yourself in the face to summon personae kicks ass. 4 didn't really hook me with the Scooby Doo theme though I did appreciate its vibe, and 5 Royale is probably the best gameplay-wise but it was about 30 hours too long and felt so moralizing it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

I’m only at the post-Kamoshida part in 5 (my brother is a huge fan and gifted it to me randomly because it was on sale so I wanted to give an honest effort) and even this short into the overall game I agree that the gameplay is definitely the best out of the ones I’ve tried. According to my brother I picked up on the apathy theme of 5 super early, and I kind of think that part is more interesting than the main conflict theme so far.

I’ll continue playing it, but probably only when he visits because it makes it more fun.

Oh right I also tried Resident Evil 4 today to check the iso but that game stresses me out so much so I quit at the first save point lol

Then I checked the iso for Dark Cloud and beat the first floor. Love that game to death.

Played the 6th gen Hobbit game on PS2 for a bit.

Of course I’m a bit biased since it’s Tolkien and childhood nostalgia combined, but I do think it’s genuinely good.
It’s no masterpiece or anything, but it’s a really charming action platformer type of game, with excellent music and a really neat presentation overall. It feels like the developers really tried with the license.

Some parts are kind of bogus because the jumping can be awkward, and the combat is very easy (until you get stunlocked), but it’s still a good bit of fun.
It’s one of those games I wouldn’t mind seeing an HD remaster of.

I've been playing R.E.P.O. with a group of my friends a ton recently. It's one of those co-op horror quota games, if you've never heard of it. Think Lethal Company, but... actually fun past the first couple sessions.

Today I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 because it was on sale on Steam.
I've been wanting to get it for PC for a long time but I always put it off because I wasn't sure my computer could handle it, but since it was on a huge sale for €14.99 and I had a few coins to spare I figured I could just refund it in case it didn't work.

Good news, it plays perfectly! I've been playing it all evening and I'm having a great time. I played a bit on PS4 years ago, but the better looking, higher framerate PC version was very tantalizing.

Been playing the remaster of Xenoblade X gritting my teeth trying to barrel through all the crap before I finally get a Skell. They like to drag things out with level requirements and prerequisite quests before you can go to the next mission and I am incredibly not fond of it. But if I could do it on the Wii U I can do it on the Switch

I wasn't sure what to think of Linda Cubed Again because it looked like one of those games valued more for its "exoticness" than its gameplay, which is something that happens a lot with obscure JP-only games (and I'm as guilty of it as anyone else). BUT. It's actually really damn good. The battle system is a little unbalanced and standard turn-based fare but it's the mechanics surrounding it - the transformations and the animal collecting - that make it so good.

For you Linda, anything.

Not today, too busy running around.

But, YESTERDAY, my oldest daughter, who's really into horror and macabre (total Hot Topic kinda girl) asked me about Silent Hill for the first time. I .. sadly didn't have a way to play any them in the moment, BUT, I fired up my copy of P.T. and had a great time with her getting through that. I then introduced her to Devil May Cry and Resident Evil. It's been amazing getting to show her these things

Tonight me and a friend booted up Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for the first time in eons and got everything working in order to play an online multiplayer game. We started the scenario "Dragon Pass" and so far it's going really well, with us against bots, and it's super fun and nostalgic. His army almost got wiped at a bunch of dragons, but I obliterated the ones that were in my way, usually it's the other way around with games like these lol ::terriermon-happy

Such a good feeling when you get to introduce the people you love to the things you love, great stuff!

It is simply the best, especially when they come away from it wanting more 😈

100%!
My little brother is 9 years younger than me, and a decade ago when he was 10-11 I showed him Dragon Ball for the first time and he got hooked and read all the 42 volumes I collected as a kid in a few months. It was really fun and special getting to share that with him.
