What did you play today?

Got more progress done in Super Metroid. Thinking I'm getting more in the mindset of the game, since I realized I could use power bombs to blow up the tube in the Motavia transfer between Brimstar and Brimstar's elevator.

I beat Disruptor on the PS1. It's the first game Insomniac and they would proceed to work on Spyro afterwards. Disruptor itself is a pretty middling FPS (or, in the terminology of the day, "DOOM clone") with the added hook of psionic powers. It's only four hours and would have made for a decent rental back in '96, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really into goofy live-action FMV cutscenes. Had fun streaming it for friends though.

I played 'Kowai Shashin' for the ps1, it's pretty much just spooky spot it. Wouldn't say it was very good. The target placements on the ghost is complete trash, which was the worst part. If it wasn’t so bad I would have actually enjoyed it for all the wackiness

for this one I had to put the curser on the license plate.

It really bugs me how all the photos are irl images, but the MC is a CG anime girl.

When fighting the ghosts, you just do the same combo every time, well there is only like 4 (but I only saw the 4th once) ghost designs for the battles

Shining Force 1 has been going back and forth between "tedious goddamn slog"/"kinda cute and fun". I think what really gets my goat is how every other map places you so far away from the enemy you have to spend the first few minutes moving your troops across the map before you see any action. The miss rate also gets frustrating, as does getting screwed on stat growth à la Fire Emblem. But dammit, the game has soul.

aside from a liquor store cashier's feelings, i played soul eater battle res today. fire game. huge shoutout to genderless pink haired lab children.

three minutes and eighteen seconds. ::thinking the first game was seven years long.
::apollo From seven years to 3 seconds? You sure this is right?

different cashiers. same liquor store. ::drink
Sounds a bit suspicious, nothing happened with the second cashier? You sure?

just a seven year long crush on one side. ends with someone named mei getting their life fucked all over. not really a game i recommend. ::thinking

I'm playing Metal Great solid V: the phantom pain. I'm being blown away by how much immersive this game is. Every small step can lead to being discovered by the enemy and it is extremely satisfying when they spot you from afar but you still manage to hide and get away.

Phantom Pain turns 10 this year and I don't think my fragile heart can take it. It feels like we've made zero progress in gaming since.

Today and honestly all this week.
Monster hunter wild
Fallout London
Atelier marie and Elie PS2 "fan translation" I wanna play the orginal of marie before I play the remake. still hoping Atelier Lilie gets translated so we have all 3 games in the Salsburg series in english.

But yeah I will be playing Wild till I 100% it and Fallout london until I beaten it same with Atelier marie and Elie.

Some Dragon's Dogma 2.

Glad it's jankier than the first. After the overall reaction last year I thought they went to the Final Fantasy XVI route.

Rage quit POE 2 about 45 minutes in, and then started replaying Shining Force Neo.

Started playing Chou Soujuu Mecha MG after looking through my R4 cart. I'm actually digging it quite a bit. The mech control is clunky but in a way that adds to the experience. I wish combat had more variety but it's all novel enough that I don't really mind. The missions are surprisingly varied too so that helps. Solid game overall, I can see myself finishing it

Kid Icarus Uprising has been great so far. I was an 3DS early adopter (sadly) but for some stupid reason I skipped out on this one. Were it not for the iffy ground controls (I don't mind the rail shooter sections) it would be an all-timer.

Ishin no Arashi on the NES, which got a playable English translation. The US have showed up in their big ass boats around 1850-ish and it's upto you to unite a divided Japan under a single ideology.

Today I progressed some more in the Samurai Shodown RPG game for Neo-Geo CD. I know you can turn it off in options, but I really enjoy doing the move command motions haha.

I don't know how long this game is so I have no idea how far I am in comparison to the end, but I am enjoying it, it is pleasant.

turns out i hadnt replayed Strider 2014 in about 9 years so i did a fast run through to also get the last remaining achievement for clearing under 4 hours. still a blast of a game with a lot of finesse and just plain great feel to its control. knockback on enemies gets a bit brutal in the late game and the gravity gimmick of the final boss is just plain bad, but i still thoroughly enjoyed a solid 80% of it. would probably fare even better next time when i'm not in a hurry either.

Bought Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time for the Nintendo Switch and am getting started with it so far.
Was planning on getting it on sale, but after seeing most of my friends getting it, I ended up not wanting to miss out.

Bloody new game vibes....
