What are your favorite artists that have worked in the game industry?

Probably due in part to nostalgia and growing up with Dragon Ball, but I love Akira Toriyama's work on Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, Chrono Trigger etc.
I also love Akira Toriyama so much, but I see him more as a mangaka, which doesn't mean that his works for games aren't fantastic. He was the man that made me pursue my artistic career since I was a child.
And I also love Toyotaro's artworks, and I hope to see more from him, since I've already finished all the DBsuper chapters.
RIP Toriyama ::heart

My number 1 answer would be Simon Stalenhag. I was surprised that he was asked to make some visual artwork for No Man's Sky but it made sense lol.

However never cared about who exactly does art and shit in games because since they are a company product and despite one artist did the work naturally even shareholders' decision would have a great impact on how the artwork is done. So simply mentioning what games' visual art I liked makes more sense lol.

For example I like pixel art in Breath of Fire 4 and overal visual design of Radiata Stories. They are like modern visual artworks like a painting!!!

As for music I like Megan McDuffee among "popular" video game music composers because of her great variety of skills for music styles in games that most people know from River City Girls. She is good at retro game music style and cyberpunk stuff. Another artist I like is "2 Mello" for the same reasons that he was known more from 2064: Read Only Memories.

That is completely fair. I think I also mostly see him for his manga work, but his distinctive character designs have really helped draw my eye to some fantastic RPGs. I haven't read all of the DBSuper manga, but I hope they work out how to proceed with the franchise eventually.
RIP Toriyama

I really like Jen Zee's artwork - with Hades being the studio's breakout hit, I assume people associate her most with that game, but my personal favourite of hers so far is the Art Nouveau-inspired stuff she made for Transistor.

Another would be Henk Nieborg's pixel art. Top of the class stuff, sadly most games he has been involved with in recent years have been fairly hit-or-miss. Still absolutely gorgeous though.

There are WAY too many for me to list, but here are some of my favorites:

Samwise Didier (Warcraft)
Ayami Kojima (Castlevania)
Mineko Ueda (Boku no Natsuyasumi)
Mutsumi Inomata (Tales but I mainly like her Dragon Quest "fan" art)
Akihiko Yoshida (Tactics Ogre, FFT, FF12/14 NieR Automata et al)
Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy)
Doug TenNapel (Earthworm Jim)
Michael Kirkbride (Mainly the Morrowind concept art)
Nils Gulliksson (swedish TTRPG legend)
Mason Lindroth (Hylics)
Xavier Houssin (Wakfu, Dofus)

The Tales games do have some of my favourite cover art designs!
Never played Wakfu, but the animated series had an amazing intro song.

If we apply musicians to the conversation of artists, I also really like Shoji Meguro's work on Persona.
I was wondering that as well, but I decided to go with illustration artists only as everyone was doing.

But now you dared to start, I will join: Yuki Kajiura.

My favorite artist in the gaming industry would be Hidari who worked on Fire Emblem Echoes and his art just hits the spot for me, there's no artist within the franchise that hits that style for me and especially for a series like Fire Emblem. He's an artist I do love a ton and hopefully he does more designs in the industry cause a style that just stands out really well alongside his great designs is a dream to see.

Honorable mentions though!
-Sachiko Kouno (Super Robot Wars).
-Shigenori Soejima (Persona).
-Kazuma Kaneko (Shin Megami Tensei and any projects related to Atlus).
-Mayumi Hirota (Fire Emblem: Thracia 776)
-Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear).
-Koya Katsuyoshi (Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and Genealogy of the Holy War).
-Benguis (Marvel vs. Capcom).
-Shinkiro (SNK).

Illustration Artists:

Takashi Miyamoto (The Silver Case games and Flower, Sun and Rain)
Ayami Kojima (Castlevania)
Kazuma Kaneko (The previous demon and character designer for the Shin Megami Tensei and lots of ATLUS related stuff)
Shigenori Soejima (Persona and Metaphor)
Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear)
Takehiko Inoue aka the mangaka of Vagabond and Slam Dunk (he only did the character designs for Lost Odyssey and 1 on 1 but his art is amazaing)
I broke the rule as "always". Who said music composers are not an artist!!! lol
then we broke the rules lets go
Composers:

Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill and Shadows of the Damned)
Chihiro Aoki (some yakuza games, her work on Lost Judgment and LAD: Infinite Wealth is awesome)
heaven pierce her (ULTRAKILL - he is also Hakita anyway; the creator of Ultrakill)
Masafumi Takada (his work on some SUDA 51 games such as The Silver Case)
Shoji Meguro (Shin Megami Tensei and Persona)
Michiru Yamane (Castlevania series)
most of Sonic games composers such as Hideaki Kobayashi and Tomoya Ohtani
Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear and Blazblue)
Kenichi Tsuchiya (Persona 2 Duology)

I've been a bit obsessed with the OST for Silent Hill Origins. Still haven't actually played the game though... ::sailor-embarrassed
