What are you excited about?

I find that pot makes me awful at pretty much everything but Shmups and Sonic the Hedgehog. Very instinct-based games like that, I guess I just zone-in and can turn a blind eye to all the distractions.
Sonic games aren't meant to run without looking at where you go. I think the principle is to use momentum instead of dashing.

As for shmups it's also a matter of placement and rhythm.

I'm looking forward to finishing Archie Mega Man soon and finally being free (for the time being, anyway).

That's so awesome! I can assure you with 100% certainty that true love exists in this world. Anyone telling you to be realistic or settle is full of crap. Chase your ideals. Whoever you are, I'm sure you're a real catch if you're posting on here. She'd be lucky to have you!
You good sir just made my day with that message. Thank you :)

Right now, about all I have to be excited for is @Mr. Daddy making progress in ASOIAF so we can watch GOT with him. I have a lot of things to dread, though.

Honestly, I play Shmups very similar to how I play classic Sonic (all three of which I've played more times than there are grains of sand in these Nowhere Islands). Starting out, it's a lot about momentum yes, but after a while it's about developing a sense of the rhythm and flow of the level design. There are certain set pieces that tip you off that enemies are nearby, or level gimmicks that signal hidden rings, for example. It's why I kind of knew how to navigate the Triple Trouble remake on first playthrough! Developing a sort of spidey sense, etc etc.
I find a lot of Shmups to be similar (although I certainly wouldn't presume to know more of the genre than a poster whose name is almost Ikaruga), wherein you can kind of go on instinct after a while, even on new levels.

Well, I turned 29 today and I feel old. I can say I am most definitely NOT excited to hit 30 next year. Though, I am excited for the rest of what is to come this year! So far so good!
