I read the game is pretty laggy (specially as you progress) and I want to optimize it so that I don't get a bad experience playing it. Thx in advance

PS3? uhhh it just works. The best is too just play as much as you can since it has a memory leak issue. Game was ported on consoles by 2 monkeys and a hungry caterpillar. Your best bet is on PC, but its still somewhat playable on PS3.

There's not much you can do on console, sadly, to improve a game. If some sort of external patch could be applied at runtime, maybe, but it's doubtful such improvement patch exists.

if any one says install a SSD they are lying as most games run straight from disc and the Sata on a ps3 are not that good for SSD.

All can give tips on
Clear the cache by going into the power menu. Uninstall every game other than Fallout. Keep cleaning the save folder every few saves. Disable auto save on fast travel.

Other than this, DON'T INSTALL THE DLCs unless you want trouble.

But it will never run full 60fps but it will be playable. Best way is to use a PC but if you don´t have specs for it sadly nothing can be done and honestly it´s sad to see there are people out there today with PC´s that are old or way way out of specs.

I said this once and I say it 1000 times more today I prefer to play on PC but honestly how expensive it is I would almost say PC gaming is Rich people past time.

Another tip I can give you is if you have a PC with at least dual core cpu and 4gb of ram and win10 you and a good internet connect with at least 25 Mbps. And is willing to pay I think 9.99 bucks a month then you can use Geforce now which is baiscly cloud gaming then you can run Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 and even fallout 76 on max setting even if you PC can´t handle it.

I use Geforce now my self to play some games my PC can´t handle that well like MH wild and Cyberpunk.
Sure my PC can run does games but I wanna run them on max setting which my PC can´t so.

Just play it and if you like it, you'll like it.

hey man, Bethesda games on PS3 is a matter of luck. I played Fallout 3 back in the day on a fat PS3, launch japanese version, and had no problem at all. a few years later I tried New Vegas and, DAMN, it was just impossible. Skyrim was great for many hours, but ended freezing so much I gave up. try to play it without worring so much, maybe it'll go smoothly for you too.

I agree, Bethesda on console is a big lottery. On PC too, but there's more you can do on PC.

Stumbled on this old post from 14 years ago, and theyre probably just convincing themselves these things work somehow, but hey, why not give it a shot, check it:

One of the biggest problems of that game (and some other Bethesda titles) on the PS3 is the save data too. The more you play, the larger your save data gets (all the items you get, all the decisions, etc) and it can get to the point where the game becomes unplayable. Apparently the quick save (resting) and auto-saves aren't affected.
The best advice I can give you is to rely mostly on auto-save and try to focus mostly on story quests to try to keep your save lean.

I figured that was the case (love your avatar by the way).

I got the platinum on it back in the day and ended up having crashes every 5–10 mins towards the end. The save files get huge, so trying to keep the save as low as possible helps. Not moving objects in the environment around and not hoarding loot helps. Another thing that helps is to not use energy weapons. They make the save file bigger, as the ooze/ash won't despawn if I remember, right? Not 100% on the reason why but they make the save huge even if they do despawn, so the save gets extra huge from using them.
Hope you enjoy the game! It's definitely playable on PS3 just gets a bit laggy and crashy the longer your save goes on. ^^

Do as you will, but I couldn't even see the entirety of the PS3 version of Fallout NV due to savebloat. It WILL destroy your game. My PC is a joke with an integrated Intel GPU and I can run Fallout 3 just fine. Just make sure you disable shadows and turn all the shadow/light/specular sliders to 0. Turn down the water reflections to Mid/Low and avoid graphics mods.

I'm not sure how much a XBox 360 is in Venezuela, but the game is more stable on that console.

For PS3, set a timer later on in-game for 25 minutes and do system resets and save clearouts to help it run.

I’m not a tech guy but I’m pretty sure keeping a very light inventory, and deleting over your old saves may help a bit. I know the ps3 version is supposed to be worse than 360, but I did run into issues on the 360 version when I would store too many items in one place the game would crash and corrupt saves. If I had too much in my inventory the game would take forever to load and lag a lot. I don’t think either of those things would make even a significant difference but I know it helped me a little.

What I did to make sure it wouldn't crash on me is just disable all auto saves. Just remember to save.

the true game is to simply try to complete the game. those gamebryo games on ps3 were such crapshoots.

Okay, so, the PS3 version is built on sadness and prayer, but you CAN make it better. The main thing is how the engine creates markers. You want to look up what things create markers in the creation engine and avoid making markers whenever possible. It’ll completely cripple the game by the end of it if you have too many, since the PS3 will try to load in every single marker you ever made in the game world while playing.
