Junpei.
People shit on him
all the time because he's mopey, or rude or whatever.
I think he's BY FAR the best "bro" type character from the "modern" Persona games. He's a genuinely nice guy with his emotions on his sleeves, who happens to be insecure as fuck and has bad days where he feels like he's not contributing simply because the player character is so good at everything he wants to be good at, and at certain points in the game he gets upset about it and gets rude. Which is accurate, because he's a
teenager.
What's so great about the cast of Persona 3, which 4 and 5 seemingly completely lack as far as I know, is that the other main characters are their own people, and they don't need you to constantly coddle them in order to make them feel better. Sometimes they get over their issues themselves after a good night's rest, and then they usually apologize too.
Junpei finds his own reason to be strong and confident, and whether or not you prefer either Chidori route is up to you. I think both are fine, but I tend to prefer the "other" one.
The main cast of P3 are so much better written than the main casts of P4 and P5 it's ridiculous. They're much more human, for the vast manjority of the time.
