I thought Drakan was an epic game back when it came out. Yeah it had some jank and the loading was annoying but damn, the open world aspect of it combined with free roam dragon flight was insane for PS2. Drakengard did it too but it was plain, repetitive, and uninteresting in a masou type setting. Drakan was a full fledged open world RPG with explorable caves and treasure, merchants, villages. I still think about it.

Probably Earthbound. Not that it's bad, actually because its been so praised that its become a meme but I still play it every year. I would say Katamari Damacy but they should feel guilty for not playing it enough tbh.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The FGC and casuals loathed this game back when it first released. It nearly killed the Tekken franchise, and suffered from questionable (at best) balancing. I had to outright ignore forum posts and Youtube discourse over it to enjoy it in peace.

It came out during my freshman year of college and it helped me through all the stressful work. The vast amount of characters and customization helped me experiment with teams and combos. Every time I finished overwhelming work, I hopped on TTT2 and all was right in the world.

I'm just going to ignore the complete 180 shift in the community's opinion over Tag 2 since Tekken 8's release.

Everybody hates them, but I don't understand why.

I'd like to gently prod you in the direction of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, mainly the first one and probably Lightning Returns. I haven't played LR but I definitely don't like the growth system of 2 even if the gameplay itself seems good.

Hmm.....Bookworm adventures on the DS? Actually, any Popcap puzzle game might be a guilty pleasure depending on how you look at it (I downloaded Chuzzle again 2 years ago and got so much nostalgia)

This game was considered a joke back in the day, people called it "the game with the blue guy," but it's actually a pretty epic little action adventure game. Its weakest aspect were the animations, from combat to jumping, it all felt very stiff. Still love it, though.

Yes, it's bad. Yes, I know it. It's a terrible concept from the ground-up, the type of retail game that simply shouldn't exist... but it does. And you'd better believe I'm grinning from ear-to-ear every time I play it

I genuinely like Bullet Witch because of how bizarre its development, marketing and the game itself is. Same with Dead Aim but its actually a pretty decent game with interesting take on 1st/3rd person hybrid gameplay. And lastly, just finished Remember Me yesterday for the first time (I played it back in the day but didn't get that far) and while the writing is all over the place (its so edgy they even have a character named Edge!), combat is fine at most, but the real appeal of this game is its art direction. I don't know how to describe it other than "its like a living concept art". Also the game overall looks awesome 12 years later and its sad that its the game with the most ironic name ever since nobody remembers it, lol.

Something something roaming farm country, raiding local meth labs, and pitchforking your way through hordes of strippers and nazi sympathizers and such because the governor banned some OTC headache remedy so the meth folks just smash and grabbed it and the MC happens to have a headache.
Zelda 1 total conversion. Completely new levels, graphics, and music, and a very deranged and distasteful premise. Not hosted on romhacking anymore.

Drakan: The Ancients' Gates was a great game, still play it occasionally today! Otherwise I'm going with Lilo & Stitch and Tarzan on PS1, Atlantis also gets a nod. Love me some Disney PS1 mediocrity!
