What are some genuinely bad games you enjoy?

Resident Evil 5 is a game I spent a summer playing with my friend in our shared apartment. Its not a great game, but every time I go back to it, I always remember the good times.

And how much I hated those late game cockroach enemies. 😐

Zelda 2, but I've felt that game has been given a reappraisal in the zeitgeist in recent years, so maybe it doesn't count as "considered bad" anymore.

The title sequence alone makes me melt:

Plumbers don’t Wear Ties (so bad it’s amazing)
Spider-Man 3 (It’s not crap per say, just pretty average)
Big Rigs
The Zelda CDI Games (I enjoy them only for the iconic bad cutscenes)
Hotel Mario (same reason as above)
32X Version of Doom (that soundtrack tho lmao)
Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast (just because of this game’s running gag in Scott the Woz)
The numerous amount of the PS2 ā€œSimple 2000ā€ games by D3Publisher

This made some quality of life improvements over C64 but neither are liked very much and i enjoy both.

I think a lot of the hate towards Zelda 2 came from the internet era. Back then it was fairly normal for sequels to be pretty different from the first game. I had both of them on the nes as a kid and I'd switch between the two of them and not really think much of it. If anything Zelda 2 really felt like a sequel. It was bigger. It had npcs, towns a full on leveling system.

Spider-Man 3
Youre right about the game not being bad, just mediocre, but I think a lot of slander for that game comes purely from how great the previous two games were (Spiderman 2 and Ultimate Spiderman) and then how much better the game after it (Web of Shadows) was. Its an OK game sandwiched between what many people would consider the best spiderman games prior to the ps4 one

If anything its roller-coaster reputation has kind of made it a unicorn as far as NES games go. Tight Nintendo gameplay that people haven't really tried to replicate as spiritual successors or whatever so there's always a good excuse to revisit it.
I've been playing that recomp for PC and super impressed with it in general so far.

I beat Lennus / Paladin's quest a few years back, it's a very flawed RPG, it's got a questionable magic system, grindy gameplay and dated graphics, but all in all I think it's artwork has a very distinct look and it managed to hook me anyway, there's not a single game that looks quite like this one

I haven't tried the recomp yet but I played the Redux hack a little while ago and it's really well done. It removes a lot of the tedious stuff and streamlines things a little bit.

Especially these days with metroidvania's being as popular as they are it would be a good format to revisit. It always small tedious things that brought the game down the overall design is solid enough.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 video game) - Wikipedia

I just like it man also I played it one Xenia which is 60fps and load times are like a few seconds. I really liked how depressing and dark this game feels especailly with Mephiles and Solaris. This game is basically if Final Fantasy Versus 13 didn't get cancelled but turned out to be a buggy mess with great stuff.

So, so many. I guess you could call Deadly Premonition and Alpha Protocol "crap games" because their gameplay wasn't their strength, however I think their strengths make up for the weakness of their gameplay.

I kinda liked Mindseye. It's dangerous to admit that online without getting crucified, so that's probably the most recent one.

Okay, but Air Boarder 64 look dope, tho.
It totally does!

And on that note, I like a lot of N64 jank. The possibilities are endlesssssss.

Roadsters is considered a really good game, but I can't quite put it in that category, so it's my pick here.

Kingsley's stupid buggy Adventures
its such BS, janky controls mixed with impossible 3D platforming
so impossible that glitching through a wall is the best strategy in some areas
no save points, you can only save at the end of a level and the levels are painfully long.
yesterday i spent HOURS to get to the 2nd boss 'Snuff The Dragon' AND beat him!
i was literally shaking with adrenaline but that wasn't even the end of the level, it just kept going!
eventually died and lost all that progress.
could use save states ofc but im trying to get achievements on RA
i like this game though,

this guy speeds runs it and makes it looks easy

a similar game i love/hate is Jersey Devil
and this SAME nerd speed runs this game too! 😵

While it's a dreadful Ninja Gaiden game, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is a fun trashy action game in the vein of Lollipop Chainsaw.

Zelda 2 is a masterpiece, not even close to the worst games.

Having said that, it is one of the hardest games I've played ever.
