Forcing people to pay extra money for some mega evolutions in a pokemon game IS greed, forcing people to pay extra money for a tutorial/demo "game" for the switch2
IS greed.
That's why there are laws to prevent company's from doing "anything" to make a profit; there are limits to what should be acceptablefor a company to do.
It isn't, though. Do you think they just trotted this out without focus testing it and researching whether or not the market would accept it? The market and customer habits shape what a company does. This isn't hard.
Also, no one said they could do "anything" to make a profit. I said they exist to turn a profit no matter what. That isn't the same thing. Thanks!

In the end it means the same thing because it implies that nintendo will stop at nothing to make money, no matter how predatory or corrupt the business plan/idea might be.
There will probably be a fan mod that fixes this at least. Seriously, stop paying for these games and you don't need to mald with each new piece of bad news.
Also, especially with these giant series, there are so many other Pokrmon games you probably haven't played yet. I haven't even played Pokemon Rangers yet.
Still doesn't change the fact that it is greedy and predatory regardless of how much focus testing they did.

To the first part: again, they have always been that way, as is their function as a business in a capitalist society. Has this always mattered to you, or are you only beating the drum about it now that it's something you're invested in?
To the second: no. 'Anything' and 'no matter what' are not the same thing. No matter what, is finding different avenues if the ones you're using now are failing. Anything implies illegality, and you know this. Please stop trying to inject your imagined definition into what I am saying, because that is not what I said. Thanks.
Quite honestly? I refuse to RENT my games regardless of what other BS they are pulling with them, so this is just icing on the crap cake. And weren't Nintendo guilty of selling you empty plastic shells for games whose entire data was made downloadable content because FY? Oh yeah, I can't wait to give them more of my hard-earned money.

Yeah, like 99% of 3rd party games on Switch 2 are download-only games tied to a physical cartridge. So they are digital-only but still need a cartridge to be inserted to play them. It feels exactly to me like what neither physical nor digital players want.
Couldn't find the original video, but that really reminded me of a similar song back in the day when Hasbro went after all the fan-made My Little Pony stuff:
Maybe the original video also got a "cease and desist"?

To the first part: "they have always been that way" so you admit that I am right when I say that nintendo is greedy and predatory.
To the second: 'Anything' and 'no matter what' imply the same thing as both can be understood as not caring about legality or morals, this is particularly true for nintendo considering how abusive it is becoming towards its customers.

To the first part, I said it earlier in the thread. Do try and keep up, or actually read what you're replying to before you worry about being right?
To the second, they absolutely do not. Nintendo isn't operating outside of the law, nor what is immoral. They are operating within their legal rights to protect their IP and investments, and to turn a profit while doing so. That's capitalism. That's the world we live in, for better or worse. You may not agree with it, but what are you going to do? Sue them? For what damages? I can't mega evolve some pokemon? Come on, man. They're finding new avenues to profit, and in this case it's similar to their contemporaries, so... I don't know what to tell you aside from voting with your money by not giving it to them. If that isn't a good enough way to stand by your principles, I don't know. Be sad about it, I guess.
To the first part, you finally admit that I am right, good.
To the second, nintendo can only do what it does thanks to all the power and money it has, any other company would already be out of business or at least be facing multiple lawsuits.
And now we are back at the start of the discussion when i said "gamers will have to start boycotting nintendo products, it's the only way"

There is nothing that makes me want to even support the game, every character design looks uninspired, the 3d models look without texture, the gameplay looks repetitive, limited and overall boring, the whole map looks like a generic ps1 city game but with more resolution, the fact you don't own the game and the console, but a license of use, the palword lawsuit, the fact Nintendo is trying to patent a game mechanic, its price, which is a third of minimum wage here in Brazil (btw only the main game, the console is 5 and the whole bundle is like 1 to 2 minimum wage salaries), their shameless act of releasing a DLC at day one, the whole subscription plan.
I love the Pokémon Franchise, I watch the anime and read the manga from time to time, Nintendo games were a core part of my childhood to teenager years and as such, for my love and respect, for the fact I root for their success, I hope Nintendo goes almost bankrupt, because, while most fans continuing to eat everything they throw, not only the quality, but also the disrespect to their fan base (Why the Virtual Boy, a failed console with 22 game library being 1/4 of them being solely Tetris being re released like full price) is not going to stop.
Unfortunately, they are only going to learn, when they are close to declare bankruptcy, until then, forget everything Nintendo related, garbage being sold at gold price is still garbage, men, how come they changed so much since the 64/game cube era? Pokémon has so much potential, it hurts to see it like that, Pokémon always had competitors, from telefang to Yo kai Watch, Palword only throve as a breaking record success, solely because of Pokémon current game status
Imagine playing this as a new kanto remake or even a Johto one: View attachment 112462
(sadly this is game sketch, a proof of concept animation made by fans)
You know, the technical power of the Switch shouldn't be used as an excuse when you could use good shaders such as cel shading to "cover" the low poly and low res textures.
Even Pokémon XY on the 3DS with an upscaled resolution looks decent (if not better than the Switch titles):
On the other hand seeing Kanto being remade for the third time may be too much.
A little below average since I see most of this franchise games getting full 80s (not that they're reliable. Pokémon Y has 88/100, which makes me laugh since it's one of the most boring gen IMO).
And yeah, I can see why this feels like a complete downgrade. Especially when we finally had a single-player experience can be fully complete without relying on multiplayer/HOME/whatever the hell TPC wants us to use out of their greed.
This said: I will still try this game very soon when it'll be released. I loved Arceus and feel curious on how the new battle system will feel like on gameplay.
