Goddamnit, reading this thread was extremely painful. I like both Sonic and Rockman, so... I felt double pain.
Hey Fake-kun, please, please, please don't judge Sonic for his adaptations - they're all bad. In the games he's a pretty likable character, and is nowhere that talkative. Sometimes I even want him do talk more because I love his japanese voice.

I think the first one may not age that well despite that it set up some major lore elements and the origin of Eggman's hatred. Sonic 3 cannot be seriously considered bad whatsoever though.
PS: I still have a fondness for the OVA simply because of the retro drawing style and soundtrack despite the rather simplistic story.

I have to somewhat agree. Without going into too much nerdy details, I’d say The Sonic Bible (yes, that’s a real thing), is the biggest contributor to making non-JP so big as unlikable as he is, conceptually speaking. Execution wise yeah he’s not consistently terrible, but JP sonic is the best.
Ahhh it’s a very “he says, she says” kinda thing where it largely depends on who’s asking and the context of the question, and what they’re being compared to. Individually, yeah they’re great. But in the grander picture they each have something holding them back. Jaleel Whie is the worst sonic voice…. Ever, sonic x is great but only in Japanese, sonic boom is funny but is actually somewhat repetitive, the sonic OVA has a charming roughness to it, but it’s still rough. I like everything I’ve mentioned here but I don’t see that as a reason to not mention their flaws. I don’t think sonic discussions need to be so black and white.
I hate them all. Sure, they're popular, but they suck - Excluding Sonic OVA and Shikkoku no Harinezumi - Shadow The Hedgehog, I like those two. SatAM is Sonic in name only, people just like it because of nostalgia. Sonic X is very badly done. Sonic Boom I don't even wanna talk about. Archie and IDW sucks.
The movies I couldn't even finish watching the trailers, I was having so much second-hand embarrassment...

I didn't liked how Shadow saw Maria as annoying in the beginning - in the games, they became friends very fast. But maybe it was just Black Doom messing around with Shadow's memories? But excluding that, I liked it a lot, wasn't expecting it, to be honest.
