Dragon Quest IX. Whenever I'm feeling down, I'll go and play it a couple hours, do a treasure map. I have about 500 hours in the game.

Katamari Damacy and it's sequels.

The soundtrack alone is enough to be a mood uplifter, but the gameplay itself is soooooo soothing.

The other is Age of Empires II. Whenever I'm stuck waiting for something and I'm a bit anxious about it, I just open Age of Empires II on Black Forest with eight bots and just turtle in the corner somewhere. It does the trick every single time.

I recently went back and started playing the old PS2 games again. We Love Katamari is definitely my favorite one in the series.

I usually just put on OSTs but if I had to choose I guess it'd be a Fighting Game, Musou or a Hack n' Slash and some racing games for the fun. As per go-to, I don't have one atm
A good musou game will have me covered for like a whole year. I played Hyrule Warriors religiously when that first dropped on the Wii U and once I get my buddy to play more Zelda games I'm definitely diving into again nonstop with them with the Switch version.

Comfort game? Never thought of it actually. But I'd probably say Crash Twinsanity, Resident Evil 4 2005, or Saints Row 2. I can load any three of those up and be okay within an hour, and in the case of Twinsanity I do yearly runs of it. My fastest time was an hour and 50 minutes. Actually hit WR with that but didn't have proof so it doesn't count. I don't record shit lol.

Diehard Resident Evil 4 fans will just go "hmm I'm bored today" and just blast through that horror action game like it's some zen experience in about three hours. It's scary.

The fastest I beat that was 2 hours and 55 minutes, but I was on easy. I was practicing movement because before that I couldn't dodge shit for my life.

statistically i feel like it would be Team Fortress 2 from my weekly playtime, but that game usually winds up stressing me instead. now the mod Team Fortress 2 Classic on the other hand may fit the bill better with its much more streamlined design for a lot of weapons, no hats, etc etc. And most importantly a new healing gun for medic that makes him way less frustrating.

if it didn't require an available and willing friend, i would also say some Mario Tennis 64 netplay is consistently a great time i can always count on even if i choke a match

Quake. There is always some new custom map I can play. Gameplay is always solid, level design permitting.

the original xenoblade for the wii is the big one. specifically the wii and 3ds versions. there are many things i do not enjoy about the definitive edition. this game is half of the reason i fell in love with jrpgs (the other half being pokemon rse, mother, and fire emblem). i own it in every conceivable way because im a sucker

to the moon also got me good. i have yet to play its sequels cos im Scared™. ive played and bought several versions of it because it had such an effect on me
