Video Game Novels

It was a whole series called “Worlds of Power.” That one (and maybe all of them?) is about a kid being teleported into the world of the game. It’s Nintendo Power reader submission tier stuff, but charming for that reason. There’s a Metal Gear one I’d love to find to compare to the writing in MGS4…

Oh, did anybody ever read those godawful Silent Hill comics? I [PURCHASED FROM WALMART] them years ago and don’t remember anything about them except they could’ve been mistaken for a Something Awful shitpost.
if you are talking about the same ones that i'm thinking of, i didn't read them but i saw linkara's videos on them. they are truly awful, in every sense and meaning of the word.

I would like to read the novel version of FF2

Problem is its not fully translated to a language I can read.

I've just gotten Halo: The Fall of Reach.

It's cool to see pre-Halo Reach stuff set on this planet.

These are unironically fun reads. I'm not sure what the general consensus online is, but it really feels like they were written by someone who actually likes the games. I liked 3 a lot.
Sorry, should've mentioned by 3 I mean the Nemesis novelisation!

IMO lots of video game novelization tend towards "schlocky" and "immature"... just plain bad, most of the time.

This is a great exception to that trend.
Focused, thoughtful, atmospheric.
She was evidently given complete creative control while inventing motivations and backstories for characters and events and, IMO, does so brilliantly. She, as the kids say, understood the assignment, and the source material full-well.
Well worth a read.

From Akira Himekawa? They're good. I've also enjoyed Cagiva's ALTTP and LA as well as Ishinomori's ALTTP.

I liked the thing the OoT manga has added.
