Underhated games

The Last Of Us - I feel it's overhyped due to it's zombie setting in a highly cinematic videogame, people praise it like it's never been done before, to me it's pretty much just Uncharted with zombies minus the parkour

Souls series - I said it before, Souls are not hard, at all, it feels hard because you as a player are constantly put at a disadvantage. Unfair is not the same as hard.

Square Enix games post Final Fantasy X except Dragon Quest - I dunno how they handle projects there but I believe you can tell they always do something very experimental with the gameplay, yet instead of refining the mechanics in the next series, they scrapped it and go with something else.
Look at Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Mana series and so on, it looks like they treat every new installment as a failed science project.

What the heck? I go to play Final Fantasy tactics for few hours and couple posts blow up damn man that's crazy!

I have no strong hate against a video game but I think WarCraft 2 is an outdated mess that people like to exaggerate how good it is sure it did x y z for RTS genre but as a game it sucks like the balance is bad the gameplay is shallow the story there is hardly one its just humans enduring genocide at the hands of the orcs , its only when WarCraft 3 was made did the lore of 1 and 2 started having any weight in my opinion.

Also we should hate Final Fantasy more really we should believe I don't know why but just lets all hate Final Fantasy fr fr

I feel that any FromSoftware game post Dark Souls 2 are some of the most milquetoast and sauceless games to be loved by the masses. Elden Ring is just the latest and dullest of a long streak of dodge-roll parry dreck. They have been making the same game for almost a decade and with every release, the gaming public's mouth hangs ever so wider open and leaks drool from it's fetid maw. Forget just rehashing and never experimenting like their early days, forget making memorable and immensely interesting games that were nothing like anything on the market, just make bottom-of-the-barrel slop to pour into the pig trough! Yummy! Slime! Yippee! Sludge!

Criticise warcraft for story? OMG you are the reason WoW is a thing... warcraft 2 is bad but still better than closeted dota that 3 is, mfer cemented lizzard as a shit tier dev and killed RTS genre, and you gonna hate on 2 that nobody even remebers instead?

Danganronpa_series_English_logo.png
I HATE Danganronpa (the whole series) and I think Kodaka is one of the worst writers of all time.

Doom 3. It should have been a Quake game instead. It doesn't feel like Doom at all.

I love the original three Warcrafts. 1 and 2 have aged, but once you get used to them, their depth its surprisingly awesome. 2's biggest issue is it's focus on boats though.

"Underhated" is a term I really don't care for. I don't believe anything deserves to be hated more inherently. The best I can take this as is "Overrated", and that's incredibly subjective. For example, I wholeheartedly disagree with you on Metroidvanias as it's one of my favorite sub-genres and I can't get enough of them.

That said, as a Fromsoft fan I have to say Demons' Souls and Elden Ring get too much praise. Demons' Souls has aged very poorly and there's a lot of sections that just feel terrible to play, as well as the world tendency system being a great concept with hoooorrible execution.

Elden Ring goes against several fundamental ideals of what made Souls so beloved and endangers the formula going forward. It heavily favors really precise mechanical execution and super high-end difficulty over well thought out methodical level and boss design. Souls in particular shines in terms of level layout and world design, and overwhelmingly the BEST parts of ER are when it's doing precisely those things... it just almost never does it in favor of a fairly bland open world with almost no sense of structure. I think Elden Ring is FAAAAAAAR from a bad game, but it kind of... bastardizes what Souls IS.

A bad game would be Breath of the Wild. An incredibly derivative game that does absolutely NOTHING new to a very (at that point) overdone and stale game design while also completely throwing everything its own series was built around out the window. It's so repetitive and monotonous, and pulls from so many different things that ALL do what it borrows better than it does.

It's clearly a nod to the original, but the original constantly makes the world varied and interesting while remaining challenging and really making you use your brain. You never "just find another shrine", even every dungeon is totally different. But it's not a particularly good open world game because it's a super cookie cutter, basic version of what came before it without doing anything interesting beyond that other than "having Zelda characters." And I haven't even mentioned the durability system. It's just so unbelievably bad. It barely even evolves the combat, and in several ways I'd say it actually takes steps back from Wind Waker and Twilight Princess! It's a bad open world game, a bad Zelda game, and I'll admit I genuinely hate how much love it gets. If you like it I'm totally cool with that and happy for you, but it got SO obsessed over just saying you didn't think it was GREAT got you harassed. THIS game? This? Really? -_-

Sorry... went full rant there. >>;;;

DOOM 3 - Might be surprising, but I do not like DOOM 3.
ok guys, but in context of the thread, Doom 3 is like the most hated Doom ever, ya know... and appropriately my favorite Doom... and BFG edition was a massive downgrade.

Really? I remember it getting tons of praise.

twas hyped up cause Doom and new best engine and everything, but after that it got all the hate for "not real doom", "half life wannabe", "shotgun not the most powerful weapon", "too dark", "ran out of ammo shooting zombie belly", "no room to circle strafe", "mosters too scary", and that's why they went full 180 with the reboot

Oh God, Skeetos is bitching about Crash Bandicoot 4 again.
People act like that game was Jesus Christ himself. God that game has too many issues. I'd rather have another Titans sequel and I mean that.

I also think that people who say that Persona 5 is one of the best JRPGs of all time have probably never played many JRPGs.
Eh, I'd put it somewhere near the lower end of the top 50. Which is still great considering the thousands of JRPGs out there. One thing very true that's depicted in the game (at least up to the time of its' development, don't know about today) is that Japanese police have carte blanche authority to torture a guilty confession out of a suspect.

What, you didn't think their 99%+ "criminal justice/conviction" success rate was due to solid police work, do you?

Come to think of it, the Persona series takes a dim view of police in general.
Persona 1: Cops sell guns to kids
Persona 2.1: Have yet to play this despite having it on PSP since launch...
Persona 2.2: Iirc...
Persona 3: Once again sells guns to kids
Persona 4: Dojima is over-worked, but his partner...
Persona 5: Cops are child abusers

The first that comes to my mind is Red Steel for Nintendo Wii.

That looks like a blatant NMH ripoff. Am i right or not?

Preach brother. Every Purse Owner 5 fan i've seen online is some ironic weeb dickhead who thinks Persona 5 is the greatest game ever made because it's the actual first actual game they've played that isn't COD or GTA V.

I feel disgusted when people say that Persona 5 is a deep or intelligent game with profound social commentary when its message is so incredibly empty and hypocritical. There are so many JRPGs with much better written stories that respect the player's intelligence and don't appeal to the lowest common denominator and that have deep, well explored and meaningful messages and themes like Xenogears, Mother 3 and Final Fantasy Tactics and you're going to tell me that Persona 5 is a "deep" and "well-written" game? Give me a break!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. Talk to any fan of that game and they'll try to convince you it's the greatest piece of fiction ever concieved, an emotional masterpiece without a single flaw. Don't get me wrong, I do like the game, but the plot barely makes sense, the worldbuilding is utter nonsense, Every character other than Grovyle and the partner are very one-note, and the gameplay is a hollow imitation of Pokemon and Mystery Dungeon mechanics.

I do think it's a cool adventure game aimed at kids with a killer soundtrack and some brave narrative choices, but I just can't pretend it's the greatest game ever made.

Hate isn't really the right term, as I don't really like to hate on something just cause it doesn't resonate with me, but I have tried to play the FF7 remake multiple times and have bounced off it each time, and I love the original. The pacing is so glacial and the combat feels like a slog. I just don't get it.

The entire Assassin's Creed franchise post Black Flag. Moved away from interesting stories and characters and became... well became just a nothing burger of boring/repetitive game design and cheap gimmicks. The modern games are seeing a resurgence of popularity and its not deserved.

See, the problem here is that they dropped straight turds after Black Flag, and then randomly dropped Origins, which had a really good story and the rpg mechanics didn't feel overtly repetitive or grindy, then followed that up with Odyssey and Valhalla. Like how do you even figure out how to fumble that bad. Boobiesoft is the bane of my existence after Far Cry 6. I didn't even like 5 that much but 6 seemed like it was bringing back some things I liked from 1-Primal, then it was just even more cut down than 5 was. At least 5 had an entertaining plot.

The exact opposite, this one is older than Noi More Heroees.

When was 3 dota? Or a closeted version of it? Its better than 2 yes it may have resulted in dota but that doesn't make it less good its a game where you can play every single game genre from RTS to RPG to puzzles to platformers WC3 is that good.

I went through all of WC2 story in a month of continuous play , didn't get that good in fact it got worse for the humans since bloodlust is overpowered and humans have no answer not to mention the lame mirror balance.

I didn't try 1 and played a remake of it in WC3 the remake is decent.

When was 3 dota?
It has barely any armies and is all about heroes
everyone who ever play rts: just stop with hero units already, is bad
lizzard: hero units, am i riiiight?
people who modded dota into it just fixed it to reveal what it actually truly was, and it took off, cause it was better than base game

Obviously the game before it was turned into RTS was along the lines of role playing strategy or something like that I can't recall , heroes been a thing since WC1 and all subsequent RTS games tried to have them and ended up flawed whether its age of empires or CNC , WC3 took the hero units and turned them into something more ,the idea of WarCraft was to command small squads of units emphasizing tactics and careful play and not spam gameplay similar to CNC , thats apparent in 1 where you can only command 4 units at a time , WC3 solved many issues with RTS like turtle gameplay and those who hide in their base and build up a massive army and then attack , by introducing the upkeep system and creeps exploring the map became very meaningful add on it shops and mercenary camps and more....and one if not the best story telling in an RTS ever! Rivaling other games in terms of story so what the heck are you talking about? Bring me a game that has a complete all in package that does everything right? Blizzard used to make games that were groundbreaking its evident by WC3 spawning an entire genre , its editor allowed for endless user generated content where you get that in other games? You DON'T that's what makes WC3 so good skill expression is melee in endless with new strategies popping up every now and then the heroes allow for so much playstyles whether you go death knight onto death coil or tank your way with death pact or be very maneuverable around the map with heavy focus on unholy aura so its the pinnacle of strategy games.....

Shadows of the colossus, this game is one of the few that a gave them a second chance , but still is a boring , empty and the game controls like ass .

*yawn* I'll just show them my 0.5-2.0 games on Backloggd to hopefully get them to understand what underhated games I'm talking about. Obiviously removing the obivious choices here.
