Full translation by morelikejonarbuckle0. "The foundation of this translation relies on Deepl, an AI translator. It's the most accurate one I can find. Otherwise, I used ChatGPT for phrases that don't translate well. This was originally done by @jjjewel (who's pretty much gone from the internet past 2015). I kept noticing little differences and oddities in the text and I thought I could try and rewrite everything and a bit more. @LandonAndEmma was going to do a similar thing, so I wanted them to join me so we can make the best version of Tomodachi Collection (in English) possible. Just disable the comments on machine translation uploads. These children cannot help themselves and will bitch and moan while contributing nothing themselves and suckling at all the free uploads. AI translation is nothing but an early access to a rough version of the script for us to be able to at least get a grasp of the script. Human translation will always replace it. There is no need for this pointless debate

Thank you CDRomance for making gaming as accessible as possible to everyone.

"you hate x so you must hate y too! because that's somehow the same!" lol lmao
That comment really makes me laugh because what he said was completely irrelevant; it's like saying that if you like The Binding of Isaac you have to fight with your own mother.

Also, you, William guy, I find it quite ironic (and hypocrite) you being anti AI and all that, and then have Sage, an Artificial Intelligence, as a PFP. Shouldn't you be hating her as well, mh?

I wasn't asking for a download link, I was making a point about the pointlessness of a machine translation.
These translations have more of a point than anything you've said so far on this site.
The only "point" you're making is that you don't like them, therefore no one else should be allowed to use them as well.
Want to wait for a human made translation? That's fair. Wait as long as you want, sure.
But if anyone else is fine with a machine translation, that is also fair. You and no one else have the right to tell others what they should and shouldn't enjoy.

Like others have pointed out, if you don't like something, you can simply ignore it, instead of wasting your time harassing others for your biased preferences. No one's forcing you to use these translations, or anything or what.

How does this game compare to Tomodachi Life?
if you mean the 3ds version, the game mechanics are almost the same. Of course there are small differences... like that you can't write your own lyrics of the songs the islanders can sing, you have to choose from the words on the list, less items to create your mii ect.
I think it's still worth a try, even if you can play the 3ds version. Personally, I liked the music and the voice of miis more on this version, it has it's own charm. I'm glad and surprised to see it finally fully translated!

I wasn't asking for a download link, I was making a point about the pointlessness of a machine translation. I know literacy is dead in the age of AI, so I have to explain it to you like this. If you get confused again, please plug my response into ChatGPT and maybe it can give you more information.

There's a magnifying glass at the top of the header of the site. At the left side of it, there's a search bar.

If you search the name of any game there, it will show you which games are available to download from the site.

I recommend using that instead of making sloppy questions.

Not the only time i was harassed on my socials.
Anytime i post a game here, it having AI or not involved, people from these comments go into my youtube channel to say toxic stuff about games i make, personal vlogs, etc...
This harassment has been happening for a while now. Hard to ignore.

Mind you, i have only friends following me and i make a point in separating my personal life from all of it. They actively searched me up on every site they could find me.

This is valid for both sides.
I had no plans on engaging with these comments, until the "slop" and "hackjob" words were used.

One has to be respectful to expect respect back.

You could even say "People also need to learn to ignore games that are not translated the way they want"
Thank you SO MUCH for not censoring the names. These types of people have incredibly disrespectful behaviour in general and they're hating on a thing they haven't even tried. Like yeah the translation is not perfect but how would they do by themselves??

i agree with you in that sense, not every single thing created with ai (or made with its help) is ai slop. ai slop reminds me of that distasteful, polluted images posted on facebook and tiktok.

that's awful, i didn't know that. there are somewhat despicable people across the entire spectrum of this discussion.
nevertheless, this was just one case (i believe and hope it was the only one) among several involving people who made non-offensive complaints and were themselves insulted.

regarding it being a disservice, i believe i raised valid points about the consequences of frequently using ai for translations and the constant promotion of such projects.
if a human translation replaces the ai-generated version, that's great. the problem is that this rarely happens, given that the existence of ai-translated versions often discourages new projects. that's one of the several reasons i don't release the xros wars translation i made for myself (not to mention it’s full of bugs and i don’t know enough about programming to fix them, yet another reason not to trust translations done entirely by ai - i'd genuinely be interested to know if anyone has actually finished any of those ai-translated games from start to finish without crashes or bugs).

I can not be more agreed with this, I used to love this site so much, it was my favorite corner of Internet.

I have recommended to a lot of people in the past to come here to search their old games and to discover new ones and I was gladly paying for this site to be alive but a curator here got so offended when I pointed their use of genAI in bsky that they refunded my money out of rage.

I know I'm not a pleasant guy to contact with, however, I would like to make my point clear when I was saying that if another sites are blocking this kind of content it may be for some good reason and that's all.
Just to clarify, not every mod or curator represent the entire community, I admit there is a bit of miscommunication sometimes among the staff and we do get a bit of too much freedom (for better and for worse) but also know that we work for free, taking time out of our lives, jobs, and families to try and do a nice thing here to help others, it is understandable at some point people might get frustrated and snap out, it's highly unprofessional and I am not giving us any excuses, but you also realize these things are inevitable when you work hard under pressure and feel unappreciated and being ungrateful to.

People also need to learn to ignore other people who disagree with them. i don't see why the curators need to endlessly reply to anyone who doesn't like this stuff. its our opinions and this constant defending isn't gonna change anyones minds.
It is not our intention to change anybody's minds, I agree with you, it's just at a certain point there was cyber bullying, which as you witnessed before, lead to the closure of the comments section a few times, an action I do not like to have to resort to because not only do we need to keep informed for any updates or bug reports, but me personally I welcome constructive criticism and civilized conversations, sharing opinions and engaging, talking about the actual game and not fixate on a tiny detail that is irrelevant while shaming those who are not bothered by it, we do not support AI, we are not allergic to AI either, we only do our job providing options for people, you are more than welcome to share your opinions just as long you are being civil and open minded.

People who speak up against ai-generated content went to my personal social media, to my youtube channel, and to others sites where i may have an account, to attack me.

And all of this because i posted a game translated in english using AI, and they dislike AI.

I don't care if someone says "i dislike AI, so i will not play this and wait for a human translation".

I care when they call others "obtuse", or "this is a hackjob" or "this is a disservice", or "this is slop", as if they're entitled to being disrespectful to someone else's hobby project, just because this is the internet.

Worst case scenario, they go to your personal social media look up your name to harass you.

People need to learn to ignore the things they don't like and move on. The world is not going to adapt to you, you need to adapt to it. AI is not going away, for better or worse (mostly worse I know), so just deal with it.

this is a perfect example of what i was saying: people who speak out against ai-generated translations get attacked (either directly or in a passive-aggressive way) that makes genuine criticism seem invalid. any people, myself included, have raised points that deserve consideration, such as the issues with relying entirely on ai to translate roms without understanding the underlying code, or the possibility of hiding machine-translated entries in search results, yet all of this gets dismissed as "luddite" behaviour or a failure to adapt to the modern world. meanwhile, bandcamp bans ai-generated songs, and the godot engine bans ai-generated code from its repositories. do *they* need to adapt to the modern world, too?
i'm not against the posting of ai-generated translations, but i don't believe every criticism should be dismissed the way it currently is. to me, that attitude comes across as childish and discourages people from supporting the site (myself included).

"Willingly obtuse", in a specific context, which one has to be ignorant on purpose to misinterpret – just to be clear, nobody called you stupid or anything. It's a "sloppy hackjob" because the author himself admits he doesn't know Japanese which is a highly contextual language that no model can currently handle properly (plus he himself made a weird thread for people to yell at him for the use of AI in the patch and everyone's replies there are just confused "huh?" or "who?").

And they call it a "disservice" because they care for what the website used to be. Nobody is angry in these comments because they don't value the immense curation work here, precisely the opposite, they're angry because every translation upload here was a reason to celebrate for a long long time and it no longer is. Like ever since Segagaga, I keep being excited by new releases here, and then I see screenshots or comments containing the most broken translations imaginable (despite my misgivings, I've actually downloaded that Dragon Quest GBA one and I have no words at how illegible it was). I have no ill will against the team here, I doubt anyone here does, but you obviously have different priorities than a lot of the community, so the friction is unavoidable.

The site purpose is to upload games that are translated in english, finished, unfinished, work-in-progress, etc.. etc...

Anyone's qualm against AI are irrelevant.
A game was translated in english, it will be posted. People have to grow up and learn that the world will not bend to their personal will and want. They're the ones that will have to learn on how to adapt to it.

Again, i doubt there are many adults in these comments, by such emotional behaviour.

They called curators of the site "obtuse". Called a game they haven't played "sloppy hackjob".
Called the posting of these translated games a "disservice".
Of course, they also downvoted the game they don't intend to play, just because.

Wasn't there already a translation for this game that wasn't AI slop?

While I'm pretty anti AI as it very often is used as a cheap way to cop-out of making proper art or putting in effort, I will say that AI assisted translations, especially when nothing else is available, are a great option to at least have an idea of what to expect... Although I can easily assume that a lot of jokes and witty comments lose their charm through the machine translation. As others have said, at least it allows fans who don't speak Japanese to create something accessible to many fans. It's a good first step, imo. Nonetheless, thanks for the upload!

"AI may get 5 words wrong (out of 500,000), so it should not be used"
That's argument isn't very strong.

I made a meme for fun.
That image is the perfect distillation of what's been going on and man I'm tired of it.
